Said id post the pictures (like a week ago) but anyway, here they are. i gave them as Christmas presents, and everyone seemed to like them, and a few asked for more. the only problem i had was keeping them from being flat once mixed and then poured into bottles, so they are somewhat flat.

A Loose Index of "Supernatural" Stuff in the Fallout Series

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 12:27 PM PST

As we all know, the Fallout series may be sci-fi, but it clearly takes numerous licenses with the laws of physics in order to tell interesting stories. Still, this series is ultimately sci-fi...kinda.

As the series has gone on, there's been more and more examples of - for lack of a better word - "magical" events in the Fallout series. Of course, almost all of them come with their own possible scientific explanations, but the mystery of the supernatural is still there in this series. So, below is a non-exhaustive list of the supernatural moments in this series that I could fine from the Fallout wikias and TV Tropes. Enjoy!

  • The Psykers (The Master, Hakunin, the Forecaster, and Mama Murphy are the only examples I can think of right now) and their telepathic abilities. Is this just a trick of the FEV/radiation...or is it something...else?! (Twilight Zone Theme starts to play)

  • Anna Winslow in Fallout 2, who might just be a woman with mental issues and a faulty Stealth Boy...or might be an actual ghost haunting the Den.

  • Sulik (a tribal warrior and possible companion of the Chosen One in Fallout 2) communing with "Grampy Bone" (one of his grandfather's bones that Sulik uses for a nose ornament). The Chosen One ask Grampy Bone for advice and, while it may not always be the easiest to understand, the advice is always valid. It's never really established how much is genuine spirituality stuff, how much is Sulik being kinda crazy and really superstitious, and how much is just Sulik figuring things out way ahead of the Chosen One and just messing with you.

  • The Church of the Children of Atom, and (by extension) the Mother of the Fog. It's possible that their resistance to radiation is a natural mutation (we saw characters with that mutation in earlier Fallouts, I believe) and the Mother is just an impostor/crazy hermit...but we don't know for sure.

  • The Grandchester Mystery Mansion in Nuka-World. It's possible that it could all be holograms and other "smoke and mirrors" (especially because a Gunner is in the building trying to scare everyone else away)...or maybe the building really is haunted.

  • Speaking of Nuka World, there's Oswald the Outrageous. On the one hand, he's a former stage magician (explaining at least some of his abilities), and his ability to resurrect Feral Ghouls is an ability all Glowing Ones have. But on the other hand...Oswald's throw-a-smoke-bomb-and-disappear trick enables him to leave locked rooms without any opening he could possibly fit through, as well as him covering vast distances in the blink of an eye. How is that all possible? And while it's likely just game mechanics, Oswald's also absurdly resistant to injury in combat. I mean, sure, Ghouls are tough, but Oswald's boss fight is arguably tougher than fighting the entire Nuka-World Raider army in "Open Season." Is he perhaps sheltered by genuine magic?

  • Everything involving Dunwich Borers LLC - especially the Dunwich Building in Fallout 3 (along with the Krivbeknih's involvement from the Point Lookout DLC) and their mining operation in the Commonwealth in Fallout 4. Some of the stuff going on in these locations can be chalked up to just hallucinogenic gases...but not everything can be described like this.

  • The Cabot family and the lost city of Ubar, especially the stuff revolving around Lorenzo's crown, in Fallout 4. Since this questline is clearly based after H.P. Lovecraft's work to a certain extent, it's possible that Lorenzo may have made actual contact with eldritch entities (or have been closer to aliens than we ever thought).

  • The Mysterious Stranger - who we know is at least a real person, considering how the Lonesome Drifter in NV is implied to be his son, and Nick Valentine in Fo4 is actively trying to track him down.

Please correct me (politely) about anything that I was mistaken on or add any examples of stuff I missed. Happy New Year, everyone!

My painted minis for the Fallout board game

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 02:31 PM PST

Just wanted to share some pics of the figures I just painted from the Fallout board game that came out in November. I looked up a lot of reference photos from the games to try and match the shades of skin and clothing, and the amount of dirt and rust, and all the other little details.

TIL There's a single bottle of Nuka Cola Quantum in all of New Vegas

Posted: 30 Dec 2017 04:37 PM PST

I've never found Quantum in New Vegas, despite 400 hours and many playthroughs through the main game and its DLCs. But when I found a single bottle of that glowing blue liquid in a crate behind a gas station in Lonesome Road, I was flabbergasted. I looked it up on the wiki to see if it wasn't one of my mods, and sure enough, yes, there's a 1 in 10 chance that that crate will spawn the only bottle of Quantum in the whole game. I better not accidentally drink it.

Is there a way to create a script that adds variety to everybody's height as well as adjust the companion follow distance?

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 02:48 PM PST

All beefs about FO4 aside, it is a tremendous world to get lost in. The only thing I haven't been able to mod away is the unsettling fact that everybody is exactly the same height (hey... maybe we're all synths.) I know I can setscale on myself but is there a way to apply some sort of randomizer globally?

Second thing is the companion follow distance. Dogmeat makes sense as a dog when he scampers around but if you're travelling and conversing with Piper or Valentine, why they gotta walk some ten feet behind? Is there a way we can make them walk closer, if not side by side like regular people?

EDIT: HAPPY NEW YEAR!

[Picture] TIL Some toilets in Fallout 3 are rigged, just like doorways and computers.

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 11:51 AM PST

https://imgur.com/a/6nhYh

It seems even when you're desperate for a drink and no where else to turn to but the rim of 200 year-old toilet bowl, even there is not safe, and not just because of the radiation and god-knows what else in there. Anyone get ever caught out by one of these?

Disclaimer: This was caught while playing "Fallout 3" under the TTW mod, so this may be a FNV-only feature, or even a mod addition by the TTW modders themselves, I can't be certain.

If you can mind-wipe a Gen 3 Synth, can you mind-wipe a human?

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 06:01 AM PST

So I was just watching one of Oxhorn's videos which explained that synths are indistinguishable from humans according to every test imaginable.

In the video Oxhorn also shows a lot of clips that show synths afraid or being threatened with a so-called "mind-wipe."

My question is/are: How is a mind-wipe performed? Can you do a mind-wipe on a human or can it only be done on synth-beings? If it has something to do with a synth component, how do they tamper with it without killing the individual?

Why I chose to side with the institute.

Posted: 30 Dec 2017 10:38 PM PST

One of the first reasons is my character becomes the director. Being in charge means in all likelihood you can genuinely help the people of the commonwealth!

Second reason. The old synths can scavenge places none radiated people can't, patrol roads and other places to keep the raider and mutant threat to a minimum. With the teleportation device they literally can get there in a second and deal with the problem.

Third reason. If you're leader of the minutemen, you could form a government to unite the commonwealth under one banner. For instance, with mass synth production you have a lot of man power to expand and offer protection to various settlements. This could increase economic and agricultural growth throughout Boston.

Fourth reason. The cure for the FEV. This is a big deal for me, super mutants throughout the old United States have the option to revert back to there old lives.

Fifth reason. Healthcare and education. This is probably going to be the most notable. A large amount of settlements don't have access to either! The institute has the ability to bring it to them in bulk, they likely have vast knowledge on medical procedures and various forms of higher learning that was lost when the bombs fell.

Final reason. The synths call the character mother/father. The synths calling you that would make the player character have some sort of relationship with them, you wouldn't see them as "tools" like Shaun does. You might as the leader see them as something more and allow them a lot more freedom.

Well this is my reason, I didn't really like the factions in fallout 4 all that much. I felt like it should have gravitated towards the railroad and the institutes little war for freedom. The brotherhood and the minutemen didn't really appeal to me at all!

With the brotherhood for instance extorting the commonwealths settlements for supplies, hearing them constantly bitch about being under a better leader. the bigotry towards ghouls/synths. Maxon's instant hatred of danse, really made me dislike the brotherhood quickly. Although I love Ingram danse and brandis! Can't forget about my patriotic brobot liberty prime either 😂

The problem with the minutemen. The meme!

The railroad I actually found likeable, tinker tom, glory, deacon are my squad goals! On a serious note, the entire shadow war with the institute was interesting. Oh and ballistic weave!

Am I still able to keep BoS & Railroad neutral despite where I am in the game?

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 08:22 AM PST

New to the Fallout series, so Fallout 4 is my first game. I was just wondering if I am able to keep Railroad & Brotherhood of Steel from destroying one or the other despite where I am in the game?

Right now, I've entered the Institute using BoS to help me get in. I'm currently doing the Institutionalised quest. I haven't said yes to Father yet. I don't plan on siding with the Institute, I'm only doing this mission to get Virgil's serum then I'll choose to become their enemy.

I am already a knight with BoS, General with The Minutemen, but I haven't agreed to joining Railroad as of yet and I haven't done any quests with them or Deacon.

Given this is a RPG, I want to immerse myself in that aspect. Initially, I wanted to side with BoS and just generally f#!k sh*t up, but my character is a compassionate guy who wants to help, and doesn't want unnecessary war. Plus, I've come to feel more sympathetic towards Synths since Curie became one & talking to a lot of synths in the Institute. Curie is easily my favourite companion. She's so innocent & cute. Not in a romantic way, but in a "aw, aren't you just a cutie pie" sort of way. Lol. She feels like a daughter to my character. And destroying the faction whose aim is to liberate Synths feels like a betrayal to Curie.

I want to end with the Minutemen to have the remaining factions neutral, but if I'm unable to save both from where I am currently up to in the game, I think I'll follow my military roots and go with BoS, and just hope Curie can forgive me.

Any way to slow down movement in tcl 1?

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 12:23 PM PST

Is there any way to slow down the camera movement in 'tcl 1' mode? I use this to freeze and game and take screen shots, but the camera moves at mach 1 in all directions, making it really touchy. I end up spending a lot of time just inches away from the perfect photo angle trying repeatedly to line it up... How do you get your screenshots?

Valentine becomes Kellogg?!?!

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 03:56 PM PST

Wouldn't have been awesome if Kellogg "hijacked" Valentines body and becomes a huge story where you have to track him down and either fix him or keep him evil.

I thought that was going to happen after you visit the memory den and Nick acts like him for a minite.

Need help: New Vegas

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 07:47 AM PST

So I'm playing new vegas on PS3 with PS4 controller. I can't use r2 and l2 which are VATS and change of view. I've putted vats on r3 and it's fine. But now I discovered that I can't modify weapons through pip boy cuz you need to press l2 for that. Is there a way to modify weapons not through pip boy(without pressing l2 maybe) and are those weapon mods that important in the first place. Help me please, I like PS4 controller a lot more than 3s and I don't have PS3 controller to begin with.
