If you've ever had a vault experiment you'd like to have seen done I'd appreciate if you suggested it.

https://imgur.com/gallery/5oidm promised I'd post these, not gonna post them all gotta save some for later : ) (Also before anyone points it out, I realize I could do some more paint work on them, especially a dirt finish)

So I beat fallout 4 for the first time

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 09:12 AM PST

This was my first fallout game. I had a lot of ups and downs with it. To much to do but also at the same time not enough to do at points I enjoyed a lot of the aspects of the game but I still felt empty at points. I was introduced to the factions of the games and I liked them but everything felt bleak I met the railroad and thought they had a noble cause. Met the brotherhood and thought these guys are nazis, and finally meeting the institute and thinking holy shit these guys are deranged. But all in all I enjoyed my time in the commonwealth I ended up with the brotherhood of steel ending, and I couldn't shake this feeling that no matter what ending I finished with it would all be bleak and hopeless.

So comment about your favorite moments In the commonwealth

Questions regarding Steam and GOG versions of F:NV

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 07:45 AM PST

I picked up Fallout: New Vegas and all the DLC from Steam over the recent sales and have been having a blast, but the frequent crashing is hugely detracting from the experience. I've installed anti-crash mods, tinkered with .ini files, played in Windowed mode, and more but nothing seems to do the trick. Seemingly the GOG version of the game has been made more compatible for newer systems; does it offer any actual improvements or will it still crash frequently?

TIL you can lean around corners

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 03:43 PM PST

I've played F4 now for possibly 100+ hours, and today, just this very minute, I accidentally discovered the ability to learn around wall corners with a gun.

Pretty much smash your face into a corner; so you can't move forward anymore, and aim down your sights, your character will learn out from the corner! Does not work if you approach the corner already aiming down sights.

FNV What is your opinon of the Skilled Trait?

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 01:08 PM PST

I usually run it, and find it enjoyable, and when combined with swift learner, its trade off isnt really that bad. What is your thoughts on it?

What defines"tactical"?

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 02:00 PM PST

So I'm rooting around in FO4 nexus and notice many item mods have the word 'tactical' in them. I think I understand 'tactical' as it pertains to real world special ops but it seems in the Fallout mod universe, every weapon or armour that sort of looks real-world and has a lot of pockets is deemed tactical. This ranges from dog harnesses, backpacks, weapon enhancements to 'slutty' armour (?!). Googling the military definition of tactical didn't shed any light. Not a criticism. I'm sincerely curious as to what makes something 'tactical' in Fallout.

i. e. What intrinsic feature makes a dog harness or slutty armour "tactical"? https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/5655

I've never finished New Vegas - tried and quit three times over the years. Help me/convince to give it another shot as see what everybody else sees

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 11:58 AM PST

Background: played the crap out of Fallout 3 and 4, loved both. Have never played Fallout 1 and 2 but always wanted to as I have played and really liked Wasteland 2, Pillars of Eternity and Divinity.

Reasons why I quit on NV playthroughs before:

  • Visually it's incredibly muddy and bland. I got through that with Fallout 3, but I'm just so sick of the brown blandness. Which mods do y'all recommend?

  • Feels a bit lonely often. I know that's part of the atmosphere, but are there any tips for which companions to bring to make things feel more driven by character relationships? Mod solutions to improve vanilla or add new companions?

  • Shooting mechanics. Again, not much different than FO3 but after FO4 it's hard to go back. Any tips for a melee build? How did you build your stealth characters? Mods?

  • Role playing felt a little too open ended. I know I'll take flack for saying this as everyone loves how wide open it is, but I like a distinct starting point (like war veteran in Fallout 4) to then craft my own character backstory based off of what the games gives me. The Courier just feels like too blank of a slate. What have been some of your own personal favorite role playing back stories?

  • Again, I know this will run contrary to what other people love but... The quests are so wide open and factions numerous enough that the pacing feels a little strained under everything there is to do. I find Fallout 4 is best played by beating the main quest while doing as little as possible on the side quests and minutemen stuff (including any settlement building). But I've heard/somewhat experienced that the opposite is true on NV? Factions seems more prevalent in a way... Do I focus on faction stuff first then main quest?

Obviously I'm on PC and quite open to mods. Beyond the ones I've already asked for input on above, feel free to recommend any mods you love. Give any other tips you think will help, including for dealing with difficulty as I like to play on survival mode.

tldr - I want to give NV another try to see what makes it so great, please give any role playing, mod, faction, character build or difficulty tips you can. Thanks!

Fallout 4 Self Building Settlements (Rise of the Commonwealth Mod Review)

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 01:05 PM PST

https://youtu.be/WpEnjlZFQYI

If you watched the video, thank you. Besides the shameless self-promotion, this is definitely an essential mod that more people need to know about. I seriously hate building settlements, and hated how I had to take care of everything in my settlement. This mod fixes all that.

Dead Money Question [SPOILERS]

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 09:17 AM PST

Is there any way through console I can un-piss off Dean Domino? I hit that one barter check unknowingly and pissed him off for the rest of the DLC. My last save is nearly 6 hours prior and I don't have the heart to play through Dead Money again :'(

A question for FO4 FROST players

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 09:00 AM PST

Hello all, I recently downloaded the FROST mod as I wanted a challenge (and more grim) post-apocalyptic experience. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy FO4, just wanted something different.

The question I have is how is damage done in the beginning of the mod. I found a small outpost of one of the factions (don't remember the name, but they were friendly) and subsequently found an automatic 10mm pistol and a handful of rounds. When going through one of the other areas there are a few aggressive survivors, all in basic gear. The first time I found them I died because I thought they might of been friendly, too. On second approach, I decided to try and take them out quietly by headshot. Here's my issue.. the round only took out about 20% of their health, and they immediately turn around and kill me in one hit. I know fallout is weird by making automatic weapons do less damage, but it's the same round and hit him in the head. No helmet, no armor, a flannel shirt and some pants. I tried again to see if I maybe missed his head, but same result. Honestly, this is an immediate turn-off to the mod. There's a difference between being difficult and being unnecessary.

So my question is this: is this how this mod begins, or have I messed up damages somehow? I haven't changed difficulty or made any tweaks after the download, and the rebalanced damage mod I use in my regular FO4 playthroughs is disabled. Any help would be appreciated!

How do some NPCs have foreign accents?

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 12:26 PM PST

Generally, you only have an accent if you are speaking your second language. 2nd generation immigrants, or people who immigrated as children, often don't have any noticeable accent, as they learned their second language surrounded by native speakers. Once you get to the 3rd generation, its seems very unlikely that you would have an accent.

In Fallout 4, the world was destroyed generations ago (probably making inter-continental immigration difficult), but there are characters who still have really thick accents, like the Russian bar owners. I assume their family arrived in Boston before the war, so how, after generations of learning English from native English speakers, do these guys still have accents?

Did they somehow manage to travel across the Atlantic? Maybe there is an exclusively Russian speaking Vault somewhere? Are they faking the accents?

How Would You Rank The Fallout Games?

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 12:07 PM PST

I'm just asking how would you rank the games. I haven't played any other Fallout game besides the main five. Here is my quick ranking:

5.) Fallout 3

4.) Fallout 1

3.) Fallout 2

2.) New Vegas

1.) Fallout 4 (Bite my shiny metal ass, old school fans...)

So what are your rankings?

New Vegas Glitch Help

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 01:37 PM PST

So I found this glitch and the first incident was kinda funny but now I'm starting to see a lot of these guys and they don't go away when I load out and back into the area. Can someone help me out here?

Edit: I tried verifying my files, and while it turned out that I was missing one (432 bytes-worth, to be exact), it didn't do shit.

Why is DC not one big glowing sea?

Posted: 10 Jan 2018 11:19 PM PST

So I've been thinking (note I'm not too versed in fo4 lore) the glowing sea is the impact point of where ONE nuke was directly dropped and went off and after ~200 years is this un livable nightmare zone. But DC HAD to have gotten hit at least twice and it's almost completely recovered. Look at megaton for evidence they aren't even that far away and there was a second bomb. Bound to be more that dropped. Right? It's the fucking capital!

The only thing I can think of is that sentinel site place. They stored bombs there maybe those went off and made it worse? Help me out ghouls and girls.

Edit: and how about New York? What happened there?

Choosing a race in F20

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 06:54 AM PST

RACES: GHOUL: S.P.E.C.I.A.L : Endurance +4 Charisma -2 Ghouls are disgustingly withered and are generally met with mild distance throughout the wasteland. But there withered appearance is a fair price to pay for there high endurance. Special abilities: Ghoulish nature: ghouls don't need to eat Rad immunity: ghouls are immune to all forms of radiation Alignment: Ghouls are often evil because of constant mistreatment. Age: as far as we know ghouls are immortal as long as someone doesn't kill them. Humans: S.P.E.C.I.A.L: +2 luck +2 to any attribute of your choice -2 Endurance Humans are generally pretty lucky and are extremely versatile, but aren't quite as endurant as some of the other races.: Special abilities: Skilled or Perked:humans start with either one extra tagged skill or a extra perk Alignment:the best and the worst are found among humans Age: humans generally live to around 80 in the wasteland due to harsh conditions Super mutants (Enclave brand) (pre-war scientists brand): S.P.E.C.I.A.L: +5 strength -3 charisma -3 intelligence (+2 strength +2 intelligence -2 cha) Super mutants are exceedingly strong because of the forced evolutionary virus (F.E.V) but it also called their intelligence and constant raiding of locals makes attempts to persuade or even converse difficult. Special abilities: Rad resistant: any radiation damage dealt to a super mutant is halved. Frightening bellow: if a super mutant uses frightening any enemies(not in power armor) must make a dc 13 endurance check on a failure the enemies are frightened Alignment:super mutants are usually evil Age:super mutants can live for hundreds of years Synths (gen 3) S.P.E.C.I.A.L +2 intelligence +2 agility -2 charisma Synths are quicker and smarter than humans, but due to growing up in the institute make them socially awkward Special abilities skilled: synths get to tag one extra skill Mechanical knowledge: synths have advantage on any checks to do with machines Alignment: synths can be any alignment Age: synths live as long as humans first part: https://redd.it/7nw1f0 second part: https://redd.it/7o45mr

What are some good Fallout 4 gun pack mods?

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 12:49 PM PST

I know there is the modern firearms mod. But that's very lore friendly. And you can't use any of them until you hit level 15. I'm just looking for a mod that adds a lot of new weapons to the game. Also, are there any similar armor packs?

Thanks in advance.

New Vegas Silver Tongued Devil build?

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 07:32 AM PST

I was thinking, I absolutely love the Chairmen/Kings and Benny and their general way of speaking, so I thought "I'll make a guy like that", but where would I start? Is there any advice you guys could spare on that?

I was thinking of focussing on unarmed, and guns so I can just use a pistol, and fists if too close, and max out Barter, Speech, and Luck for gambling/smoothtalking for the charismatic guy type of thing. I'll likely end NV with Yes Man as I've never done that ending before as well, being relatively new to NV. Does this all sound solid? Also, whats a good outfit and good perks/traits to grab?

Edit: Also, I'll most likely have companions doing most of the fighting for me, with the high charisma and all

Pre-War Vegas attractions

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 12:25 PM PST

So me and some friends are planning a trip to Las Vegas this year and me being the Fallout fanboy was wondering aside from the obvious real world versions of New Vegas landmarks, like the Stratosphere Tower, if there was any official or unofficial Fallout related sites/attractions. I know there's some kind of Mad Max inspired drag race festival out in the desert but aside from that any time i type in "Fallout " and "las vegas" guess what comes up?
