Getting the most out of all those Provisioning ingredients: My (time-intensive) min-max method Posted: 19 Jan 2018 06:28 AM PST TLDR: If you want more out of your Provisioning ingredients than to simply list full stacks at a guild trader (or worse, ignoring or destroying them), craft specific endgame consumables to sell at Guild Traders. With your leftovers, craft large batches of trash to sell to vendors. I'm sharing my method. Housekeeping: Prices are PC NA; Tamriel Trade Center recommended values. Be Provisioning level 50 with maxed relevant passives. This works best on PC with Multicraft or Craftstore add-on, so that your finger/thumb doesn't fall off. Intro: There are 2 Epic (purple) and 48 Common (white) provisioning ingredients that accumulate from hirelings, writs, and looting. It is a daunting laundry list of nondescript berries and goops that accumulate quickly as you play. Most have no value to NPC vendors, and relatively little value individually on the guild market. If you don't have the Craft Bag, they'll quickly clog up your inventory. Even with a craft bag, they represent unrealized income. Some players ignore or destroy them and get back to more fun and profitable endeavours. Some players are comfortable getting a nickel per ingredient on a Guild Trader. I happen to be a dangerous combination of min-maxer and idiot, and so to satisfy those tendencies I've developed one way to turn 100% of these drops into as much gold as possible. Last night, I banked 375,000 gold after clearing out my swollen inventory. Here's what I did. My Method: Review all of the possible recipes, and choose the most profitable one for every single ingredient. With one exception (Fish) we will not duplicate an ingredient's use in another recipe - once we know the most profitable outlet for a single ingredient, it stands to reason any other use would be suboptimal. All crafts produce 4x the result with max passives, which is what makes this at all possible. These ingredients all fall into two categories: Additives and Bases. There are 12 common Additives (also called Mediums). The 2 Epics are also Additives:
That leaves 36 remaining common "Bases" (also called Base Ingredients) - 18 for Food, 18 for Drinks. Since there are triple as many Bases compared to Additives, and most recipes call for one of each type, you need Additives 3:1 to Bases. We'll get into the math later. Some of these ingredients are most profitable in endgame food, which is sold to other players in Zone Chat or a high-traffic Guild Store. However, to have a full stock of endgame food listed, you'll only really be using 1/4 of these ingredients. What to do with the rest? A key piece of mini-maxing provisioning is use of NPC vendors. They'll buy anything, from soup to nuts, instantly and in any quantity. We will burn off most remaining ingredients using specific green recipes, and vendor off the results. Many of these recipes are dirt common and inexpensive to learn; a few are scarce and pricey. They're all worthwhile to know, and will pay for themselves in the long run, since using them makes much more than most raw material value. Optimal Endgame Recipes: % Mark-Up is Net over Cost: (4x the Sell price, less value of ingredients) / (value of ingredients)
I've chosen to show the Mark-Up to illustrate the benefit over selling raw mats alone. Note that there are substitute recipes for most of these – a total of 3 CP150 Magicka recipes (also, 3 for Stamina) which produce identical buffs, and 4 CP150 tri-stat recipes. The ones I recommend here are chosen because they are in demand (sell quickly), don't duplicate ingredients with each other (except Fish), and they have the lowest ingredient value. Fish is the only exception in this method; we use it three times! This is because it's cheap and abundant due to Perfect Roe and achievements hunters. If you've done any fishing, you may have hundreds of "byproduct" filets. If not, someone else has - shop the guild stores to find stacks at 2g/per (or less). It barely factors into your materials cost, and therefore the recipes that use it are optimal. You'll have leftovers. I save mine for future batches, since these recipes are more profitable than the vendor trash (up to 400% return on ingredient value). You can also buy more of ingredients you ran out of at Guild Traders, but this lowers your profit. There are other good endgame foods (Dubious Camoran, Ambrosia, etc). I don't use these in my method since they consume scarce/expensive resources (Roe, Alchemy mats) and aren't as profitable to burn the common ingredients. The Vendor Trash: Here are the recipes you'll use to burn the rest of your ingredients. Where I've used 4g recipes, it was because no optimal 5g recipe was available for a particular ingredient. The max we can get from a trash recipe is 20g. The value of its ingredients can't exceed that, so we only use green ones (2 ingredients each). Pricey ingredients: Flour (20g), Small Game (20g), and the 2 Epics (42g, 95g) must be used in the more valuable Endgame recipes above. Food:
Drink:
How to use these lists: Focus on one Additive at a time. Add up all Bases you have that pair with that Additive. If you have a shortage of Additive to use all those Bases, buy more at guild shops. Then, multicraft. Each 'craft' takes about 2 seconds…as a baseline, 1000 crafts takes about a half hour. Set it and go play in traffic for a while. Sell the results to an NPC vendor. Repeat. Example: The first Additive under Drinks is Seaweed, used in three recipes which need Mint, Yerba Mate, and Ginseng. If we have only 200 Seaweed, and 100 each of the three Bases, then we'll need to find 100 more Seaweed at Guild Traders. We craft everything, then sell all 1200 drinks to an NPC vendor for a gross of 5200g (5g x 4 x 100, + 4g x 4 x 100, + 4g x 4 x 100), and a net of 4700g (we bought 100 Seaweed @ 5g) Selling just the raw ingredients only makes 2200g (200 Seaweed x 5g, 100 Mint @ 6g, 100 Yerba @ 3g, 100 Ginseng @ 3g). Crafting only the two recipes without buying extra Seaweed and selling the raw Ginseng only makes 3900g (5g x 4 x 100, + 4g x 4 x 100, 100 Ginseng @ 3g). Final Notes: My last run through this method consumed well over 20,000 ingredients. My largest single batch was 1600 Markarth Mead, which earned me 32,000g for 45 minutes of autocraft. I had to buy a few thousand Additives in order to fully clear myself out, but at a significant profit. And of course, not being able to play but needing to be close to the PC left me doing housework for the better part of a Sunday, so there's that. If you want to, you can generate new money doing this by actually buying ingredients below market and running them through this process. It's probably one of the worst ways to make money per hour in the game, but you can walk away from your screen. Feel free to modify. If you would rather save Nightshade for double damage poisons, then add Kragenmoor Zinger Mazte to your trash list, and sell the Small Game and Bervez Juice as raw stacks. Want to make Dubious Camoran Throne? Remove Sticky Pork and Radish Noodle, then add Dragonstar Radish Kebabs to your trash list and sell the Flour as raw stacks. There are other valid substitutions; go nuts. My Google sheet is here for you to copy and use. Just input the quantity you have of each ingredient on the Inventory sheet, and then on the Recipe sheet you can see where you stand for each Additive/recipe. It does some math for you. Posted: 19 Jan 2018 01:22 PM PST The issue: Tormentor set: 'Pounce: Fixed an issue where this ability and its morphs were not applying the charge snare to the target enemy.' - 3.0.1 Patch Notes Many players have been duped by this inconsistency. Pounce is definitely a charge ability, as evidenced by ZOS making sure it's applying the appropriate charge snare to the point of addressing it in a patch... There's just no reason it shouldn't proc the Tormentor set and correcting this would open up a world of fun for many players. The plea: There's a lot of Werewolf players who want to tank properly and the passives for the WW skill line naturally lend themselves to that play-style (massively increased resistances and a WW timer extension for taking damage continually). What we lack is a bona fide taunt and I was really disappointed to realize that the Tormentor set does not work as most people expect it to with Pounce. With the innate speed increase while in WW form, it would be trivially easy to use Pounce to reapply a Tormentor taunt and most of us would gladly use this set to make our Werewolf tank dream a reality. Make the thing work, please! :) [link] [comments] | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Is there a pattern to the black sacrament quests? Posted: 20 Jan 2018 12:52 AM PST I'm trying to get Blackest Sacrament and ho boy is it a pain in the ass with 3 people left. Posted: 19 Jan 2018 09:11 PM PST What I'm talking about is the teleport to wayshrine charge getting temporarily bumped up to 900ish gold before slowly working its way back down to 147 (at max level) again. This seems to be a relic of the days when the game launched to force people to run to way shrines, however there are so many ways around it now that it's only a minor nuisance to get around it by porting to a guild mate and then using the shrine that is right next to you. It makes no sense to me why that inflated charge is still around. If they removed the inflated charge, and just made the basic charge always stay the same, it would end up being a far better gold sink. I have no problem pulling the trigger on a 147 gold charge to port to a way shrine, but will never pay for it if it's above that base price. Instead it just encourages people to use the addons that get around paying for wayshrine travel altogether. So is there still a reason for the inflated price, considering ZOS has added ways to get around it, or is it just a relic of days past that needs to be changed? I just wasted 3 hours tanking banished cells 2 only to get kicked. Posted: 19 Jan 2018 06:08 AM PST I started with a fairly decent looking team, one 690 dps, one 340 dps and a 450 healer. We got to the final boss and cp 340 kept dying, after two attempts the healer left, this is where i shouldve left too but after 30 minutes of getting stamina chars who selected healer we got a real healer, then the cp340 left. We kept going through new dps for another hour or more until the healer gave up and logged out. The two current dps then decided to kick me. I am so mad i thought i would share this story with you all, i have done this dg many times with no problems but this, today, took the piss. About that new Fang Lair patch... Posted: 19 Jan 2018 09:32 PM PST So, I haven't been able to PTS for years, and this new patch is getting me all antsy. For one; Fang Lair, I mean, does it really need to be said how awesome the prospect of visiting a true 3d handcrafted version of the old Arena testing ground. Secondly, I'm actually enthusiastic for the new outfit thing. I've been searching all over the place to try and get a heavy set for my main that's actually in the Breton style. I know Breton isn't as flashy, but it is basically the quintessential medieval plate armor. Anyway, that's enough rambling. I just want to know if anyone has any idea as to when it might be going live. Particularly on the Xbone. Posted: 19 Jan 2018 12:57 PM PST I started playing when Morrowind came out, so have been using Vivec City as my go to home base ever since. All of the crafting stations are close to one another, there is a teleport nearby and a merchant there in the mix for repairing and selling trash. There is also 5 (I think) guild traders very close, so searching stores is fairly easy, although the guilds don't necessarily have good selection or deals. The only downside is no stable and the house is very small and a bit of a hike. Where is your favorite place to call home and why? How to go from completing vma to farming vma? Posted: 19 Jan 2018 07:15 PM PST I recently just completed vma. It took almost 2 days and 200 pots and countless soul gems etc. Im very glad I did it. But now I am thinking about trying to farm it for fire/lightning staff and bow. Obviously the second time would be much faster but still far to long at this point. My class is magblade, cp 350. I used 5x mothers sorrow, 5x juli and 1 mola kena. Gold juli and weapons and about 22k dps. Still trying to farm IA. I know it would be easier with more dps or sustain. The two issues are #1 an optimal set up and #2 how to actually approach mastering the arena. Any advice is appreciated. Extremely expensive blueprint, what should I do with it? Posted: 19 Jan 2018 03:59 PM PST I'm a relatively new player, so I have no experience with how the player economy works. I recently came across a purple (epic?) Blueprint for a "Hlaalu Armchair, Polished", I asked the zone chat how much it's worth, being purple and all, and someone said that on TTC (whatever that is) it's going for about 450k. How would I go about selling this? I have no interest in housing and crafting so I don't think I'd get much use out of using the blueprint myself. Could someone explain mobs leveling to my character? Posted: 20 Jan 2018 03:07 AM PST Or link an explain. I don't really understand this. It seems to me, though I might be imagining it, that as I level up (even CP levels) the mobs get harder. Is this the leveling to my char or did I just end up in a harder area? [Question] How to convert armor styles? Posted: 20 Jan 2018 03:00 AM PST So, I am new, I have the imperial dlc and I'm playing an imperial. I noticed I could "convert to imperial style" - At first I thought it was normal for each race to be able to convert armor to their style, but according to a few google searches it's only imperial. My main question is, can I convert my current armor into anything else without crafting it? For instance, if I buy a motif in the crown store, do I get the ability to convert into that motif? It's the whole "Convert Armor" thing I am not sure how mechanically works, and I haven't been able to find anything on google, rather than people saying years ago they want the option. Which is not what I was looking for, but rather how it actually works. [link] [comments] |
