[CIV 6] Has anyone here actually ever built an airplane?

Posted: 20 Jan 2018 05:01 PM PST

I'm being a bit sarcastic, yes i have built them before but not lately and never as part of a real wining strategy. Seems like everything about flight is pretty much just tech filler. AI seem to like building them but don't utilize them very well. Historically, flight was a game changer in warfare, but in civ its just a footnote.

Barbarians in Civ 6 seem a bit . . .excessive

Posted: 20 Jan 2018 03:13 PM PST

They've always been a mild nuisance in Civ games, but in 6 they seem out right dangerous and crippling. I've just started playing 6, so maybe the few games I've played were just bad luck, but in every game I've played so far, the barbs have been more dangerous than the actual enemy Civs.

They can spawn SO many units. Me and a friend spawned near each other one game, and within 30-40 turns we both had 10-15 barbarian horseman and spearmen units swarming us. And that's 10-15 each. We were about 40 hexes apart and couldn't even aid each other because we were fighting a literal war against the barbs. The AI doesn't seem to be hampered by them anywhere near as much as players either

The barbs tech crazy fast too. Even end game when I was the most dominant military in the world BY FAR, and had the highest tech level BY FAR, I had to spend nearly half of my time fighting the barbs instead of being able to conquer the enemy civilizations.

The barbs were driving around in Destroyers and using gunships and mechanized infantry, which was like 3 tech levels above the Ai that was closest to me science wise.

These weren't rebels, these were barbs spawning by the dozens out of camps while I tried to clear them. How do the barbs even scale their tech level? I'm pretty sure that barbarians shouldn't be using tech as advanced as helicopters and battle ships . . .

Byzantines, Persia, Rise & Fall

Posted: 20 Jan 2018 03:28 PM PST

Through history there have been many leaders who have led their civilizations through dark ages and into great heroic times. Leading against their ancient enemies whom they have fought for decades or even centuries with only a few breaks between the coming wars and campaigns.

I think that two leaders who would be great for Rise & Fall, two leaders who would represent their nation's people and the idea of this expansion, would be the Roman Emperor Justinian, and the Sassanian Emperor Khosrow Anushirawan.

Through the reign of these two leaders and ancient rivals both Persia and Rome had gone through tumultuous times only to rise to some great victory. Justinian's reconquest of Africa and parts of Italy as well as Khosrow's accomplishments reforming the tax system, and military, dismantling the old aristocracy and making it bend to his will as well as quelling the Mazdakites and Christians within his own empire. Khosrow's reign also saw a great expanse in the Persian Culture.

Justinian led what was left of the Roman Empire in the east in taking back large swathes of old Roman lands. Building the Byzantine Empire to its height. Justinian's quelling of the Nika Revolt and his proclivity of choosing great people and leaders to help guide his nation to what he saw as a hopeful Roman Future only to be laid low by the Great Plague.

These are just two leaders who I would love to see brought in through Rise & Fall and just why I see them that way. What other leaders do you think embody the theme of Rise & Fall best?

Did they Rename Persia's Capitol?

Posted: 20 Jan 2018 10:29 AM PST

Persia is probably my favorite civ to play as in Civ VI and I noticed they renamed their capitol from Pasargadae to Pathragada. This is an improvement, and a more accurate translation of the city's name, but I thought it was interesting that they bothered to do this. Has anyone else noticed this?

-Edit Thanks for correcting me on the typo. I never get those right. This time I almost typed capital but remembered that I always got it wrong so I thought I would outsmart the system by typing it the other way, doh.

Also, it appears the premise for my question was due to a mod that I forgot I installed, Rosetta Stone. Great mod btw.

Civ 6: Do Trade Routes take away resources from targeted city?

Posted: 20 Jan 2018 06:57 PM PST

IE, If I build a trader in city A and send it to city B, are the resources I gain from city B subtracted from city B's resources?

Sorry if this question is tedious. I have been scouring the internet for the past 30-40 minutes with no clear answer to this question. I only find variations of it.
