True Dota 2 - What new builds are you theorycrafting or playing with in 7.07d?

What new builds are you theorycrafting or playing with in 7.07d?

Posted: 27 Dec 2017 01:04 PM PST

New patches tend to shake things up, and as a result sometimes new item builds are possible. What are you doing in 7.07d that is atypical or working really well in this patch. Looking to discuss theorycrafting of new builds basically, so even if it's something that you started doing before this current patch feel free to contribute if it's not a common way to build the hero.

Increase shrine healing per player around it?

Posted: 27 Dec 2017 08:45 AM PST

Anyone else think this would be a good idea? It would reduce the amount of people solo using shrines and not alerting allies/give them incentive to actually wait for people to walk to a shrine. Really sucks when you're offlaning and you go to your shrine with 0 hp to find it was used by the jungle LC 2 mins ago.

2.7k player looking to improve. (Critical analysis on an SF game, be as brutal as you want to be)

https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3644745799

I was the shadow fiend. I'm trying to get better at laning. At first I thought maybe we lost because of the lack of a decent carry and a jungle legion but that couldn't be just it.

I know I'm very terrible at positioning and the "being at the right place at the right time" stuff.

If anyone can point out as many mistakes as they can I'd be very grateful. Be as brutal as you want. I want to hit 3k as soon as possible.

Thanks

Pangolier Item Build, Mid-game strategy

Posted: 27 Dec 2017 01:24 AM PST

Seeing this hero with a sub 50% winrate makes me a bit sad. I recently discovered him playing with some friends and started to take it to solo ranked, and the only game I've lost in those 15 games was one where we got shit on by a really good morph player.

.

BUILD:

Starting items: Stout Shield, Branch, Tango, Salve, Mango

In lane: Magic stick, upgrade into wand if you absolutely have to. Arcane boots, magic wand, javelin x2

I've seen some talk of buying aquila, but I think it delays your javelin timing too much which is essential to getting early kills. It may be useful if you are constantly fighting and cant farm items or are always out of mana, but I think mana boots and the level 10 talent gives you enough mana.

.

End of laning phase/roaming/pushing phase: this is where you will have a lot of variation.

Blink, Basher/Diffusal, MKB/Basher/Diffusal, Basher/MKB/Linkens/Diffusal

not sure how i should format that, but basher first is really good against some heroes like storm and AM, as you have a very high chance of stunning (4 25% chances), that will help you lock them down easily. it can be combined with blink to chase people and kill them/hit them repeatedly with roll and bash.

Diffusal is good if you just need damage, as its something like 35 or 40 damage per hit added, as well as 200 mana burned. The purge active can also be useful for chasing some heroes down, or for other reasons. (absolutely crushes medusa!)

MKB is just a more reliable way to get damage, and also boosts gives you some out of swashbuckle damage for farming. If they have evasion, it can help out with that (I'm not sure if swashbuckle can miss, actually?) and it clears slots out for other items (this is pretty big because pango can be slot starved sometimes).

Linkens can be picked up anywhere along the line in the games where they have an ability that fucks you over either in roll or outside of it, thinks like fiends grip and rupture.

.

Late game: Abyssal/Linkens/BKB/situational item that i cant think of right now

these items are pretty self explanatory, BKB is only really needed if you are constantly getting locked down outside of roll, abyssal for the reliable spell immune piercing stun. I'm pretty sure abyssal can be used while you are rolling if you are on top of the person you're trying to abyssal, but i'm not sure.

I haven't included anything about skill build or talents because i think there is only really one way to build this hero skill wise, which is the path i always follow (can check my dotabuff)

.

Playstyle:

stay alive in lane till around level 4 using tree juking and swashbuckle, if possible get last hits, avoid using swashbuckle for last hits unless you can get some good harass off as well as you will run out of mana very fast.

once you hit 6 and get mana boots you can harass the enemy carry/supports with swashbuckle and your W, once they are low enough you can roll onto them and then use your q and w to finish them off. if you can get a teammate to help you out, it makes it even easier.

after the laning stage is over, you can roam the map farming creep waves that other less survivable heroes on your team cant, and taking engagements using roll and swashbuckle to get easy kills. your Q+W combo will one shot any creep wave, which lets you flash farm very quickly. pango is not awful at taking towers, so taking T1s can be part of your strategy if you are able to get them.

when your team is grouping up to fight, pango is amazing at opening up a fight then using roll to keep multiple heroes locked down. using your roll correctly is essential to winning fights, specifically using walls and blink to rotate yourself correctly so you can hit heroes multiple times.

.

and remember, this hero is SHIT at right clicking, and you shouldn't buy right click items. please.

4K btw

i'd like comments/questions/discussion as well, curious to see what others think of the hero and how you guys play it, and what you think of the hero. i personally think hes a bit op, but that's probably because people aren't that good at dealing with him yet.

if you have any questions on matchups i would love to talk about that as well, i mostly made this post to help myself understand what im doing (this is my first post on this sub) but i like to talk about dota shit and i dont have a lot else to do (no family and christmas break from uni, what to do besides dota and work?)

edit: i accidentally pressed save which posted before i was ready, oops

edit again for formatting

Think about your role in the stratergy phase

Posted: 27 Dec 2017 06:04 AM PST

During the stratergy phase, u know all ur heroes, u know all the enemy heroes. Think about your role in the game. Not mid/support/carry...... but what do u want to achieve with your hero this game? a clinkz might say one game "to kill towers afap", and another "To get an early orchid and kill am a lot ot times so we can build a huge advantage and win. ETC. ur role in the game might be more than one thing, and will probably be. But u should think about it, build according to it, and play according to it. Use the stratergy time to sort out your mind about this game, know what your goal is in this game, and what to leave for your teammates. U cannot do everything.

Arc Warden tips

Posted: 27 Dec 2017 10:26 AM PST

Hello lads, reached 4k yesterday, which was a huge milestone for me ever since I've started to play Dota so I consider myself somewhat good in the game. I decided to put away ranked for a while and learn some new heroes that seemed really fun for me. So, as the title suggest, I need some tips and tricks for AW this patch. I like to spam a hero in unranked before putting it out in my ranked regime, but man, this hero is so demanding (not because of the micro, I'm really comfortable on that one, but the farming). I really feel like it's the get-the-midas-before-12mins-or-lose type of hero. Currently i have a 40% winrate on him (just started playing him) and the thing that bugs me the most is the laning. How do you get the enemy mid out of position to use flux? Position of the wraith sparks on midlane? Is it viable to get Wind Lace aside from naked boots (because his shitty movespeed)? General starting items you guys go before a Midas? Maelstrom or BoTs after the Midas? Do you prioritize farming jungle to get those 2 core items safely or do you still stay in lane and push? Some general tips of positioning in teamfights? What are some mids that he's really good against? I know this hero is like a Meepo to some degree. It really requires good mechanics and solid farming patterns, but damn, there ain't a better feeling as AW and mashing your keyboard while the enemy melts under the double flux and maelstrom procs. Hit me up with the knowledge bombs fam, really eager to learn this one.

TLDR-general tips on AW for a beginner

Elder Titan offlane or support?

Posted: 27 Dec 2017 09:19 AM PST

Basically the title. I've seen him as both a pos 4 and an offlane and i'm really not sure where he's best played. I'm leaning more towards offlane just because of his strong lane presence and high move speed.

How to enhanced strategic prowess when you are good mechanically?

Posted: 27 Dec 2017 06:52 AM PST

How can 4k scrubs improve their decision making and strategic plays? I do think I'm good mechanically. I know a lot about creep equilibrium and how to get it back. Importance of double pulling, stacking, night-day differential, etc. I just do think I need to improve in decision making.

Does Agility increase Swashbuckle Damage? (Pangolier's Q)

Posted: 26 Dec 2017 07:21 PM PST

See title. I believe it doesn't?

I'm trying to decide if I should go mana boots or aquilla on this hero. Mana boots seems a bit excessive with the mana regen talent too.

Suggestions?
