Self Post Sundays! - December 24, 2017

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 08:09 PM PST

To foster more discussion about the games every Sunday we turn the subreddit into self-post only mode.

Self-Post Sundays are our main discussion day. On those days we only allow text posts directly about the games themselves.

Please save your images, fan art, screenshots, videos, etc to the other days of the week. Use this day to discuss the games. Other posts will be removed.

Concerning a Legend of Zelda film

Posted: 24 Dec 2017 07:44 AM PST

Having rewatched the phenomenal Terrible Fate video (link right here: https://youtu.be/vbMQfaG6lo8 ) and listening to the fantastic score for a theoretical Majora's Mask film by Theophany, it struck me that if any Zelda game would translate best to cinema it would have to be Majora's Mask. As far as a cinematic experience goes, Majora's Mask is one of the more thematically complex Zelda games and could translate into a fantastic and even subtle film. Anyhow, I've been geeking about this concept since yesterday and wanted to hear what you guys thought. Would you want to see a Zelda movie and, if so, which game would you want to see adapted?

Can we agree on some this for Twilight Princess?

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 11:16 PM PST

I know the game is divisive. Some love it(my second favorite) and some hate it. And there are some who just think it's okay. But can we all agree in terms of just pure dungeons, bosses and items the game just kills it? Seriously there's a good amount of lengthy solid dungeons with some of the best bosses and so many cool items like the spinner that sadly never return.

So, the next Zelda's in development. What storyline would you like to see?

Posted: 24 Dec 2017 04:32 AM PST

Breath of the Wild is an absolutely astounding game, there's no doubt about that - but after finishing it, many of us were left wanting a much richer, more indepth plot, with enough twists to keep us on our feet.

So, what kind of storyline would you like to see in the next Zelda? What kind of roles do you want to see our main characters play? Will we ever get a Gerudo!Link? Or a Princess Zelda that actively fights alongside us throughout the entire game? Do you want a return of Ganondorf, or maybe even another villain entirely? Hell, do you want a Zelda game set in the far future, akin to Nier: Automata? (imagine the possibilities of THAT one, though!)

Tell us what you'd like to see!

EDIT: I realise there are similar questions across the board. For this one, I'm more interested in hearing your ideas for the next Zelda's plot/worldbuilding.

Classic Zelda subreddit?

Posted: 24 Dec 2017 09:10 AM PST

Is there a subreddit and a discord server dedicated only to the first TLoZ and everything related like Rom Hacks?

If not someone wants to create with me?

HELP! I screwed up getting the expansion pass

Posted: 24 Dec 2017 09:05 AM PST

Hi guys! I screwed up and accidentally bought the Nintendo Switch expansion pass from Amazon when my girlfriend plays on Wii U and completely botched up the Christmas surprise I was gonna give her.

Is anyone willing to trade codes? Maybe someone who's planning to get the Switch pass for themselves this Christmas? Hehe I promise you a 100% this isn't a scam or anything.

In Majora's Mask, will I lose the Zora eggs I've collected if I go back in time?

Posted: 24 Dec 2017 12:14 AM PST

I'm running out of time so I want to go back to day 1, but I don't want to collect the zora eggs all over again.

If you could choose a Zelda game where you could live in which one will it be?

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 04:08 PM PST

I would choose Skyward Sword because Skyloft is awesome, nice and peaceful, good environment, fun and also its a floating island in the sky, I could travel to other floating islands with the Skyloft birds which would be epic. Which Zelda game would you choose and why.

So I'm playing OoT for the first time and I keep having to look at online walkthroughs to complete certain areas.

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 01:56 PM PST

Am I just dumb or is the game really vague about giving certain clues? Places I got stuck so far is finding Saria after leaving the first area. Navi kept pestering me about finding her but how was I supposed to know she was in the lost woods?

Then I got stuck in goron city with darunia. After I lit the torches the vase-like statue started moving. So I spent legit 30 minutes trying to jump into that vase. I started whacking those stone dudes with torches and a bunch of random shit. I finally gave up and watched another walkthrough. I wouldn't have thought about playing Sarias song in front of him in a million years. How am I supposed to know that?

I know some of you probably played this game as 8 year olds back in the day. How did you do it without all those walkthroughs and guides online?

[Spoiler] Just finished Champions Ballad

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 03:22 PM PST

About 160 hours into the game before playing the second DLC pack I felt like there was nothing left to do besides fetch quests and Korok seeds. This DLC changed everything. I loved doing the trials especially the ring races. The shrines are what really sold me on the DLC pack. One of my former complaints about the game was that in terms of difficulty, the dungeons felt "easier" than previous titles. Mind you I'm not trying to come off like Revali with his ego but getting lost in dungeons was a Zelda experience I never really had with this game. The only shrine I really had difficulty with was the one in Korok Forest with the constellations. The DLC shrines were more challenging than the others and I had a blast figuring them out. Of course what really got me was the lore. It was so cool to see Zelda with the other Champions and get more of a glimpse of the events before the Calamity. I felt a myriad of emotions with each Champion cutscene. Laughter with Daruk because of his fear of dogs, that "aw" feeling with Baby Sidon and Mipha, anger at Revali because you know, feels with Urbosa when she talked about Zelda's mother and also thinking "Damn, what a badass" when she took on those two Yiga members. The Divine Trial was my absolute favorite thing about the Champions Ballad. The puzzles were brilliant and how they paid tribute to the Champions with different themed sections. I've had more of those classic Zelda "Ah-ha!" moments than with the Divine Beasts and included shrines. Also, Purah in the final cutscene was pretty cool. This DLC pack really has me loving the game just like when I first got it.

Thank you Mr. Miyamoto and Aonuma as well as a special thanks to Satoru Iwata.

Now that Zelda botw has been out for a while, how would you say it stacks up against all the others?

What Legend of Zelda Game would you want to see remastered, reedited and completely updated to today's game Standards/Graphics and why?

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 03:33 PM PST

I would love to see a remake of the Ocarina of Time.

Imagine OoT being more lively and much bigger.

When OoT first came out, it took me a few to get use to the controllers, then a bit for the mechanics and come up with a playstyle that made it much easier to me.

The only problem I have with OoT was actually getting all Golden Spiders for the reward, other than that, the shadow temple and Spirit temples were a pain.

But I would love it if the Creators decided to overhaul the old Legend of Zelda games make them even better than before.

Just thinking of what would be possible in OoT with BotW mechanics and graphics gets me so excited.

Of course it would be awesome if Nintendo created a Legend of Zelda Online that held all titles as worlds you could enter and play with todays game tech.

Except only, instead of using link or anyone else from the main story, we would create our own characters and live in a village in a game of our own choosing, similar to many other Online RPG's.

Then we could team up with others and fight many of the main bosses in groups or do mini dungeons that a single player can do if have the right level.
