| What's the current state of Mewtwo? Posted: 15 Dec 2017 09:11 PM PST I was recently reading this ==> https://www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comments/4zmdv3/top_10_mewtwo_combos_melee/#bottom-comments archived post focusing on the pros and cons of Mewtwo's gameplay. I've also been looking into Taj's and Leffen's Mewtwos. I'm honestly quite confused as to why Mewtwo isn't higher tiered. I'm new to actually playing Melee competitively, but I've been watching for quite a long time. In my personal experience, Mewtwo combos the shiet out of fastfallers. He's got a funky chaingrab on Falcon at/around 60-130 percent. He can edgeguard fastfallers consistently with his bair. His throw game is awesome (u-throw into fair leads to 0-deaths, b-throw is a reliable kill at certain percents, d-throw into d-tilt can chaingrab falcon and rack up damage on other fastfallers), and his recovery is pretty broken. His drawbacks come from losing neutral. I've seen Leffen's Mewtwo come back from 2 stocks down at 80-90% percent on his last stock because he didn't lose neutral outright (like getting hard read and f-smashed, or u-smashed). I've seen Taj tank all the way up to 189% in doubles because he avoided the hard-hitting attacks. I think the only downsides to Mewtwo are the fact that he CAN be beaten outright in nuetral if he plays wrong. His movement is good enough to avoid character's kill moves. He can be combo'd, but not usually into kill moves. He has a hard time getting raw grabs and breaking through characters defenses, but once he's in, he kicks ass. Im obviously less experienced than 99% of the people reading this. I'd like to know more about Mewtwo in general. I have no experience with Mewtwo-Marth, for example. I know his tail hurtbox sucks, but doesn't it balance out with the relatively disjointed tail hitbox? I know his fair hitbox is small, but it combos super hard right? I know his dtilt can be CC'd, but it can catch people unawares as well. So whats the deal with him sitting at #21?
