Help Understanding Links, Combo's and Cancels in Terms of Frame Data Posted: 28 Dec 2017 05:57 AM PST Hi, I'm a new player that's interested in the reasoning behind combo's and how they work. I think I already have a rough idea. From what I understand, depending on the frames on hit a normal has you can/can't combo off of it. I'm learning Dhalsim so I'll reference his frame data throughout. All frame data came from here: https://streetfighter5guru.com/dhalsim-frame-data/ st.LP is +3 on block and +5 on hit so it's safe and you can combo out of it (Or just use another random move) with another move that has a startup 5=<. Though the only normals Dhalsim has with that short of a start up are lights so it's kind of useless for damaging combo's cr.MP is -3 on block and -1 on hit, but that is safe unless they have a 3f move right? (Also the fact that Dhalsim will normally be at range using it) cr.HP is +3 on block and +7(!) on hit and I think I can see why it's so common in combo's. It gives great (From my POV at the moment) frame advantage and allows you to combo into b.MK. The thing I don't understand from looking at the frame data is why MP Yoga Flame is so common in combo's when it has 18 frames start up though, I see it's only -2 on block so I believe it is safe. Is this a case of a cancel? If so, how does that work in terms of frames Drills seem insane looking at the data with +6,7,8 on block and +9,10,11 on hit respectively. Does this mean you can easily and safely combo out of them? I can also see why Yoga Gale is good, 2,0,-2 on block which is pretty safe. As an aside, Dhalsim doesn't have any big combo chains but for other characters like Menat how can you manage to have combo's so large? Is every move in the combo at frame advantage? The things I'm not sure on in general are about the start up time and how it affects whether you can combo or not (I'm guessing this is to do with links and how tight the link is) and if anything below -3f is 100% safe or not, I read something saying in most cases it is but not all the time. I tried to read the combo's on the site but don't understand the format with all the numbers so some help there would be great. [link] [comments] | ||

Edit: I get it already, you're all ultra-zen, reflecting types who never let a loss bother you. But shouldn't they design things like this around what a casual player would want? Isn't the goal to get the most people hooked as possible? Little things like this factor into that and I think saying "Ryu/Ken wins" will help a lot more of the casual players than saying "You Lose". It's not like hearing "Character Wins" is going to bother the hardcore players, but hearing "You Lose" sure will bother the casuals. I just don't see the issue with having it the other way, but there are people saying the current way they have it is demoralizing. [link] [comments] | ||

Whenever I launch the game the steam window that pops up says launching Street Fighter V Beta. The steam window then immediately switches to the store and the game crashes. If anyone has had this problem and solved it then I really need your help. I've been playing tekken 7 since it came out (which was around the time sfv stopped working) and I'm craving me so sfv. (Cammy) Bison aka Evil Cammy Posted: 28 Dec 2017 03:17 AM PST I was thinking about what costumes I'd like to see in SFV in the future and then remembered that Cammy had Bison costume in SF4. I thought that costume is what I'd like to see return in SFV but then thought: there are evil versions of other characters like Ryu, Ken and even ironically Akuma (Oni) so what if SF team made evil version of Cammy with some psycho moves? Lorewise it would even fit as the Dolls were made as backup bodies for Bison even though that didn't work out. Bison has now died and could use a backup body so... why not Cammy? Of course it would be non-canonical like the evil versions of characters are but I think it'd be fun to see Psycho powered Cammy. This just a fun string of thoughts, don't take this too seriously, alright? Hypothetical moves: Let me know, do you think this character could exist, if so what moves you think Evil Cammy would have, how would she play differently from both Bison and Cammy?
