| New 300 Gem/55 Item Chests Are A Rip Off Despite 3 Rolls Per Purchase Posted: 30 Dec 2017 06:06 AM PST Let me start off by giving a slight background on myself. I play on the Xbox One and I've been playing on that platform since the beta was available. I originally bought the god pack and played for a bit on PC (only until about level 20), but a large majority of my time and money has been spent on the Xbox One. I currently have over 1100 hours played and I've spent a bit over a $1000 US dollars on this game. I own every voice pack, I've purchased Season 2, 3, and 4 Odyssey, last year's Summer of Smite, all of the adventures, the Norse Invasion, each SWC pack, and more. Below is a screenshot that gives you some idea of what I currently own: My Profile (Sorry for the pic - Xbox One wouldn't let me screenshot for some reason.) The reason I tell you all of this is because I'm a whale. I own most items and I own basically everything that gets put into the 55 item chests. However, with the addition of the new 300 gem/55 item chests that allow you to choose from 3 options, I've decided to stop purchasing these items. I'd happily buy the new Cabrakan and Mercury skin (they are the only items in the chest I'm missing), but I refuse to do so on principle. Let's break it down: HiRez has yet to release the odds of actually obtaining specific items from chests. We know for certain that the Exclusive skins have a much lower drop rate. This led to some people being rightfully upset when buying these chests as HiRez essentially forced them to buy a large majority of the items before the Exclusives ever became available. HiRez's solution was to give each player 3 rolls per purchase to get an item they want. We know over 55 rolls, you will get every item. If you want each item in the chest, the old price would have been 11,000 gems while the new price is 16,500 gems. This is an obvious 50% price increase given the jump from 200 to 300. This by default will hurt anyone like myself who purchases all of the items. This is well known and well understood. However, how does this effect the person who only wants that 1 skin? Does it actually make it cheaper for them? It is impossible to know for certain since HiRez has never released the official drop rates. However, what we do know is that in order for the price increase to be worth it for customers, you should be able to get the specific item you want with 50% less rolls than before. For 300 gems a roll, 37 rolls would bring you to about 11,000 gems. These 37 items are now worth what those 55 items used to be worth. Based on pure speculation, you will probably be able to get that 1 item you want by that 37th roll. From the anecdotal evidence I've seen, most people will get the items they want by the mid 30s. This leads people to believe they are saving money, because they didn't need to purchase 20 items they didn't want. What they fail to see is that they are still paying the same amount, just purchasing less content. This system is set up to make people think they are getting a better deal, when in actuality they aren't getting anything better. Instead, they are just spending the same amount of money for about 60% of the previous content. This doesn't even touch on the fact that these chests are filled with items worth less than 300 gems for direct purchase. It is fundamentally wrong that a 300 gem chest contains 200 gem voice packs. HiRez is essentially forcing people to buy the voice packs separately to ensure they don't waste 100 gems when the roll goes against them and they get 3 items worth 200 gems a piece. Finally, nothing about the items in these chests have changed. HiRez jacked the prices up 50% based purely on the slight chance that for some players it will be more affordable. They have done nothing to actually show that is the case and instead are just hoping players accept 300 gem chests as the new normal. Simply put, it is bullshit and it is a terrible business practice. It is one I will be boycotting until HiRez addresses the price increase with actual data or reverses their policy. TL;DR - 300 gem chests are a scam. They raised the cost of this chest to give the false illusion that your odds of getting that Exclusive item are drastically better. We know for certain this was a 50% price increase for players who want everything. There is no evidence to suggest this style of chest is at all cheaper or more affordable for players who only want one specific item. In fact, they most likely will get that item while spending the same amount as before for about 40% less content. On top of that, HiRez fills 300 gem chests with many 200 gem items. This results in HiRez making more money while providing less content for no reason other than to deceive the player into a false sense of odds being better for them. This feeds on the gambling nature of chests to a much higher degree and does more harm than good. It is immoral and in my opinion is a terrible practice for a video game. I will personally boycott all of these chests until the price is reduced to 200 to stay in line with their previous chest system or they show this system is actually more affordable with real data. Simply put, this is a team game and when one or two of your teammates are less than half your ELO, it makes for one hell of a frustrating and un-fun game. And when I mean half your ELO, I am serious. Getting 1300 ELO players on your team just kills the game. I think the worst part is that as you get better, you learn how to play as a team and you start expecting people to do certain things, but when they are at a much lower skillset than you (absolutely nothing wrong with that), they dont do those things and it makes it REALLY hard to make up that lost ground. I think (I have no proof) that Hirez goes with an average ELO that is about equal for each team. That sounds nice, but gets you in games with 3/4 people at 2500 ELO and 1/2 people at 1200 ELO vs a team of all 2000 ELO players. The problem is that a team of 2000 will almost always likely win that game. Of course I have no stats other than my own experience, but I think it is lose/lose for everyone. The higher ELO gets upset with the lower ELO players for not helping/doing what they should and the lower ELO players dont have fun cause they are getting stomped. Overall, I think a max ELO deviation would help things along a lot over whatever system is in place (again, I think that is average, but I have no idea). Like, all ELO's in the game are in a 300/400 ELO range or something like that. There are issues with partying, I know. Maybe you forfeit that when you party up...dunno. I have WAY more fun losing with all equal players than I do winning with a completely unbalanced team (it is stressful and frustrating) and I have a WAY worse time losing with an unbalanced team than I do losing with a balanced team. Lastly, I play a lot of joust and that is where I see the worst cases of this and it makes the biggest impact (in a negative way). Thoughts? Am I high as a kite? On crazy pills? | Please implement locally saved replays of your last games Posted: 30 Dec 2017 11:11 AM PST I know its hard to store replays on the server and thats why they are only accessible to high ranked games or when someone actually spectates your game, but why are you not able to allow the game to save a replay on your local machine? Here's come my idea with an exemple : We actually have a standard (1=1) chest which costs 200 gems. Make a checkbox near the buy button that say "+100Gems" (+50% of the initial price) to offer the player the chance of 3 rolls Otherwise, player, per default will have this 1=1 chest. He's got a super stable, super cool relationship with Jeff, he is unbelievably positive and nice to everything he meets, and he is also an unreal ADC. He makes it so easy to be a fan of him, he knew that blue is a sick color so even when he switched teams he kept it sick. He also has an unwavering immunity to toxicity, which makes him so lovable and fun to watch. After few games today i got a message that im in fact have been repeatedly reported for harassment by different users. To clarify, i never taunt, never VEL, never saying anything except "gg" in a lobby. Win/lose ratio is around 70/30. I would think that's because im playing Loki a lot, but histories of guys reporting me also cointain Loki games soooo... Anyway, is such abuse of reporting system worth sending a ticket or nah?
