[Complaint] What Is Going On With EX Raids?

So it's now two weeks in a row of no EX Raid invites.

I cannot believe how badly Niantic has handled EX Raids over the past two weeks (let alone overall). No blog post, no invites, not even a tweet.

All they say is "keep raiding to increase your chances". Well Niantic you actually have to send out invites for this to take effect.

As it's the holiday season I have spent and I know a lot of other people have also spent a huge amount of time targeting Gyms in parks, known EX Raid gyms and if your country has them Sponsored Gyms.

For me I probably increased my raiding to around 5-10 a day and many others in our local community did the same.

It now seems all this work has gone to waste.

I am tempted to contact to Apple to request my money back because this is just ridiculous you cannot tell us to to keep raiding and leveling gyms to increase our chances and then do absolutely nothing with no contact what so ever.

I really thought Niantic had turned the corner over the past few months with regular updates and contact, but this EX Raid debacle has gone on too long and keeps hurting the community.

100% Gardevoir - https://imgur.com/gallery/X5fIO happened upon a weather-boosted 100% Ralts (Lvl23) in the wild, and juiced it up to this sucker. Simply had to share. Lvl 37 player, never once caught a 100% in the wild, let alone something potentially useful.

The whole process, of 1) opening map checking if there are any legendary raids 2) going to facebook group see if anyone has posted/make your own post 3) wait for responses, ( not enough people/ takes forever ) 4) go out in the winter (drive/walk) in the snow and wait in this random spot 5) wait for everyone to get there ( " OOO bettys going to be late, her car won't start" , or , "Bill just posted hes coming, lets wait , bills the man" ) 6) start the raid, and possibly not even catch it..

c'mon niantic give us little guys a chance, I mean it's def a fun way to do it, but give the solo players and small town players another way of getting them.

7) repeat 1 - 6 about 30x for a "chance" at mewtwo

maybe a month long quest on each legendary release, like catch X amount of Feebas', feed X amount of berries to your gym pokemon, curve ball excellent X amount of pokemon...

EX Raids (From a Business Perspective)

Having monitored EX raids since the introduction here are my findings. I hope these help you to understand what is actually happening with EX Raids at the moment.

  • EX raids target casual players as a priority, the idea is to encourage them to return to the game or raid more and get them to pay more money to Niantic. Casual players are an untapped market compared to the already hooked constant raiders. Niantic needs to attract new players otherwise they wont show signs of growth.

  • EX raids no longer invite a large number of players. The three main reasons is that a smaller number of players keeps crowding issues down, it also reduces the chances of spoofers being able to complete an EX Raid if the IRL players use a private lobby and the final reason is that it keeps a majority raiding to try and get an EX Raid.

  • Badges do not help you to get an EX Raid invite, you actually have a lower chance of getting an EX Raid invite if you have a gold gym badge. The graphs shared by the Silph Road are warped due to a majority of players contributing being hardcore players who already have most places as gold gyms - skewing the results. The reasoning behind this is that you are already hooked on raiding so Niantic do not feel the need to reward you for raiding as chances are you have everything else at that stage you are only after Mewtwo.

  • EX Raids intentionally do not occur at set times of the year, such as a break occurring during holiday periods when more people are raiding. The reasoning behind this appears to be that people have more time and as such will raid more regardless so they dont need EX Raids as an incentive.

[Complaint] Bad raiding times because of Daylight Saving Time are still a problem!

I wrote a support ticket on the 12th of November, 2 weeks after the Daylight Saving Time on the 29th of October happend here in Europe. Raiding schedule was from 7AM with the first eggs to appear until 9PM with the last bosses to disappear. Since the Daylight Saving Time it has shifted to 5AM* with the first eggs to appear and around 7PM when the last raidbosses disappear.

One month later I wrote them again, that the problem still isn't solved. A lot of people have to work until the early evening here, so there is no chance to even get rid of the free pass. In the morning everbody is getting ready for work or comes home from nightshift. And in the evening there are just no more raids to go to, 'cause the last eggs appear before 6PM.

Everytime I got the, somehow, same answer on my ticket like: "Sorry to hear how the Raid Battle is getting affected due to Daylight Saving coming into effect and thank you for sharing your valuable feedback regarding this. We have already passed this to our game team they will look into this."

Now it has been another 2 weeks and the support seems to be so damn useless. You write them, they send a copy-paste text and go back to sleep or what?

In 2 1/2 months the Daylight Saving Time is over - I guess there won't be any fix for this until then.. Although it can't be that hard to give raids a fixed time of occuring by attaching it to the local timezone.

I can't be the only one to feel like there isn't any communication between the community and "the team". I know there are bugs to fix, there are features to work on, there are holidays etc. But not a single word over it. Like "we are aware that there is a bug after you send away your Pokémon and working on it". There is nothing.

And I don't get it why they don't test there damned updates before they roll them out. Simple bugs can occur, but there were a lot of times now, when the whole update had to be rerolled because of gamebreaking bugs/bad performance etc.

*It is minus 1 hour because of our daylight saving time and then an additional hour back because of the one in the US which happend on the 5th of November.

I'm sorry, but I really had to "rage" somewhere over this. I know it is just a game and I wouldn't mind to just quit. But there are so many people I met because of the game, people who enjoy it. I do, too. But it would be even more enjoyable if there wasn't this lack of communication. And an actual, visible improvement in the game itself. It seems to go a few steps forth and then a bunch more backwards..

Any grammatical or spelling mistakes are because of my lack of good english since I'm from Germany. They are to be excused.

Perfect IVs male Ralts - evolve to Gardevoir or wait for Gallade?

I managed to catch a high-CP male Ralts with max IVs and now I'm in a predicament. If you were in my position, would you evolve it into a sweet Gard now, or wait another year or w/e for Gallade?

I prefer Gallade, and understand that having a good male Ralts/Kirlia is ideal for evolving to one, but the wait for gen 4 is going to be killer...

  2. Can last year's Santa Hat Pikachu be TMed to Present?
  3. Can Present Pikachu be TMed away from Present?
  4. Can Delibird be TMed away from Present (supposedly it also has Ice Shard in the code as a quick move)?

Spoofers of Reddit: Why?

I just got kicked out of a bunch of gyms by a known spoofer and I'm furious. They're kind of remote and took me a long time to physically get to. I'd go and take them back but it's dark and it's snowing quite heavily.

Spoofers of Reddit, I have two questions:

  1. Why aren't you playing the main series pokemon games instead?
  2. Do you care that your cheating sours the gameplay for legit players?

Favourite Pokemon Go sprite animation?

Just wondering what is everyone's favourite Pokemon Go sprite animation? I know besides the one that plays when you tap on it, there is also one another that will only play when you leave it for a while.

My personal favourite is Flareon doing that little stretch :)
