[Theory] Hermaeus Mora sends letters to the players. Posted: 21 Dec 2017 05:35 PM PST Most who have played Skyrim are familiar with the letters from "A Friend" pushing you in the right direction towards a "mysterious source of power" that can "only be unlocked by the Dragonborn." The writer acknowledges that you caused a stir in -insert place here- with your thu'um. The seemingly obvious writer is Delphine, as she signs the Jurgen Windcaller note with "A friend" and has knowledge of the dragonborn's ability and where they need to go, just like the mystery writer. I instead propose that these letters are sent by old Herma Mora. By mentioning the location that you used your shouts, the developers are clearly stressing the omniscience of the writer. For example, this writer knows of your actions even when you're in your home, an abandoned shack, a mile off shore on the wreck of the skinny horker, and even in apocrypha. I believe this is part of Hermaeus Mora's plan to kill Miraak and discover the secrets of the Skaal. He knows that the Dragonborn will make a great champion and is encouraging the Dragonborn to become stronger by writing this letter. We have a writer who:
Hermaeus mora is the only known entity that makes sense. [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Dec 2017 09:24 AM PST After finishing Breaking Bad, I was inspired to be the Walter White of Skyrim, and came up with what I believe is currently the fastest way to make money in Skyrim using legitimate methods, and it involves Alchemy. Here's the (headcanon) story of my character, and how to do what is closest to a drug lord playthrough in Skyrim. Might be better for you to have Alternative Starts installed if you want more immersion for your character, but the vanilla start works too, and that's what I used here. Fjori is a Nord orphan who grew up in Elsweyr, adopted by a band of Khajiit skooma alchemists, and developed an aptitude for trade and alchemy. He was sent to Skyrim to scout out the lucrative skooma market in the region and to connect with the Thieves Guild, which he did after evading capture by the Imperials. (Tell the Jarl about the dragon? No way - he's here to sell drugs.) Embedding himself in the organization and running errands, (this is important - do all the Thieves Guild quests so that you have influence in all four holds and fences have 4,000 gold available in multiple cities), he ended up with 5,000 gold and bought himself a nice plot near Morthal and built a house - with a garden. And here, he comes up with a unique recipe involving local flora that he believes will result in a much more potent drug than Skooma that will sell for much higher prices. Paralysis is the alchemy effect with the highest value in the game. I see a lot of tips on the Internet for Alchemy involving three ingredients or Giant's Toe, but that's not what we're going to do here. What we're going to do, is mass-manufacture our version of heroin at a much faster pace and massive quantity than what would be possible with stuff like Giant's Toe that's only acquired or sold in small numbers. Plant these two ingredients in equal numbers: Canis Root and Imp Stool. Each garden plot will yield four of these. Even with a single garden, you'll be able to brew sixteen potions of paralysis in one batch. If you can't find Imp Stool, Swamp Fungal Pod will also do but those only yield three per plot. Make it a priority to acquire some Canis Root and Imp Stool. Sell these to Tonilia and expand your house. Get all the Hearthfire houses with greenhouses and a garden. You will now be producing 168 Potions of Paralysis in one batch, and you're probably going to end up with a maxed-out Alchemy skill by the time you're done brewing four, five batches. Selling is now the problem. I usually use a four-city cycle: Endon in Markarth, Jaree-Ra in Solitude, Niranye in Windhelm, and Mallus Maccius at Honningbrew Meadery. All are fences with 4,000 gold close to fast-travel points, and by the time you have finished one cycle, their purchasing power will have been restored. So this nets you 16,000 gold per cycle, which takes less than a minute with Whirlwind Sprint and a fast SSD. (I decided to let my character find out that he is the Dragonborn in the middle of the drug trade. It was a bit immersion breaking but whatever. Gold is good and I guess the world ending might be bad for business - Alduin needs to be taken out if the heroin is to continue selling.) You can pretty much buy anything now, but what I recommend that you do is make sure to train skills per every single level. That is definitely affordable with this method of making money. If you're more interested in playing at a more leisurely pace, you can also stock up on alchemy ingredients and smithing ingredients by simply buying everything available each time you visit a city to sell off your Combining this with a high level of smithing and enchanting will allow you to make ridiculous gear and potions that will basically make you invincible. Last time I checked, I was producing potions of paralysis with 44-second effects. So combat is not an issue at all. Just paralyze everybody or take ridiculous potions that'll make you immune to everything and boost your damage. So congratulations. You are now swimming in 100K+ gold, the Thieves' Guild is biggest drug distributor in Skyrim, and everyone's addicted to heroin. The entire game is your oyster, and it didn't even take very long. I recommend playing at Legendary difficulty. [link] [comments]
If dwarves had been a race, what would their starting skill levels have been? Posted: 22 Dec 2017 05:53 AM PST As a race to play, I mean. Also, is there any lore to back up what they would be? I'd imagine they would probably have at least a 20 in smithing if not 25, 20 in enchanting, 20 in heavy armor, etc. What do you guys think their major/minor skills would be? EDIT: oh, and what would their racial bonus/power be? [link] [comments]

What's the best build for committing mass slaughters and dealing with hold guards? Posted: 22 Dec 2017 03:51 AM PST I've been thinking of doing a killing spree playthrough, but I'm unsure as to what build would be best. Destruction Mage for explosions? Dual wielding to slice through everyone in my path? Stealth Archer to not get caught? [link] [comments]

How to disable "ads" in Skyrim Special Edition?? Posted: 22 Dec 2017 01:15 AM PST I don't make posts often, but when I do it's usually to bitch about something... But seriously, in skyrim SE theres those annoying as hell snippets in the top corner. Does anyone know how to disable them? And for the ones not directly advertising creation club (which in itself is filthy heresy) why are they even there?? I'm sick of seeing bullshit about a mudcrab on the creation club or other nonsense. It also ruins my immersion dammit! Even if I spend only a minute in title, why on earth would I want that to be there? /rant Any help is welcomed, thanks. If it comes to deleting or editing some kind of file, explain the whole process like I'm 4.. I'm not too great at that kind of thing. [link] [comments]
