War Never Changes

I decided to add the Androids mod to my enormous mod list. Then, I saw this humorous thing and made a picture of it.

played 5 min, did I run into a bug?

Posted: 29 Dec 2017 04:28 PM PST

I'm currently playing the tutorial (first time playing) and I'm 5 minutes in and I'm supposed to equip a weapon to all 3 of my colonists.

Problem though: One of the colonists is incapable of violence and can't equip any weapons :-D

guess I'm off to a good start..

Output_Log.txt massive file size

Posted: 29 Dec 2017 11:27 PM PST

I noticed I had run out of room on my ssd today while downloading Divinity Original Sin 2. Did a quick scan on WinDirStat to find that there was an odd 100gb stored in my Rimworld folders, narrowing it down to Output_Log.txt.

So just a heads up, if you run a lot of mods, you could be getting bug reports filling up.

For materials which deteriorate, does their "hp" affect stuff created from them?

Posted: 29 Dec 2017 11:21 PM PST

For example, will a parka made from a stack of 10% hp cloth be lower quality than a parka made from a stack of 100% hp cloth? (Same question for components...etc)

My colonists are wedding-crazy.

Posted: 30 Dec 2017 01:32 AM PST

I somehow completely missed the notification that a wedding was happening. Suddenly everyone was gone from my screen, and I found them gathering in my church for a wedding. Fabulous. I have so many colonists now that I have people standing in front of the crowd to watch the wedding instead of sitting in the perfectly good chairs in the back of the church.

As I'm pondering where to put chairs to make my colonists actually sit in them, and trying to think of how to move things to expand my church's dining hall so it can actually hold everyone who's hungry after the weddings, there's another notification. "Your colonists are gathering to celebrate Lercha and Beaver's wedding"....uhh, what? You guys literally had a wedding an hour ago. Why were you so desperate to get married that you picked the same wedding date? Oh well, select everyone and quickly draft and un-draft them to stop what they're doing so they all make it to the second wedding.

Another notification during the wedding. "Marriage is on! Babs has accepted Richard's marriage proposal". Come on guys, don't you know how tacky it is to propose during someone's wedding?

Poor Skye collapsed from exhaustion. I'm surprised more people didn't collapse, with two weddings in a row and a simultaneous case of fibrous mechanites and sensory mechanites affecting most of my colonists.

I've never had this happen before. If anyone was wondering, the "attended wedding" mood buff is +20, and the "attended wedding x2" buff is +30.

Rim life-hacks: The aftermath of a wedding is the perfect time to butcher up all those raiders you've been holding in your freezers when you don't have any psychopath cooks, since the debuff for "I butchered humanlike x4" is only -16!

Weapon Help

Posted: 29 Dec 2017 03:20 PM PST

So a caravan recently walked through a hive and I earned an incendiary launcher and an assault rifle I gave the rifle to my best shooter but my next best is level 2 and I'm not sure if I should give the launcher to them or a survival rifle. Any tips?

[Vanilla]Mixed Opinions on room labels? Can I have mixed rooms?

Posted: 30 Dec 2017 01:47 AM PST

Hello all!

I've been trying to figure out how to better organize my rooms in my first ever Rimworld colony. I've searched a bit, and people seem to have different views in terms of if the label affects stuff or not. Some people say that the objects themselves give the mood buff; some say it's when people do stuff in the room; others have different opinions. One thing I've found that most people agree on is that a bedroom tag is super important. Here'sa picture of my current world, and I've been wondering should I separate the dining/recreation combo of a room. Also, do rooms that directly go into corridors without doors work well in this game, or do they behave weirdly in terms of technical stuff?

Any tips or criticisms are absolutely welcomed (and hoped for). I'm having trouble keeping my rooms good. Incidentally, how do I find steel gold and stuff in the map?

Also, how the hell am I supposed to get more colonists? I'm in my first winter and I've got these original 3 peeps with 2 that came and died (1 prisoner/1 rescued) in the winter because for some reason I didn't produce clothes for a jacket ; Which I just discovered comes from cotton.
