A few Chimera leaks ... Weapons, modes and Outbreak missions

Posted: 29 Dec 2017 12:02 PM PST

So I'm not going into details, but I've done a dump of the current Live client and it turns out we already have a lot of info related to the next season and its mode ... Here is what I can tell you.

We have at least three new weapons: an assault rifle called POF9, another one called Saritch 308, and a shotgun called AA-12. There will be more in the future for sure.

For the new mode, it's currently called internally "Fury", it is available in two variants: Campaign and Dungeons. Not exactly sure what the second corresponds to, but you will be able to create Custom Games with it.

There is also a new PvP mode codenamed 'Reborn', but I'm not exactly sure if it is linked to the Outbreak event, some references seems to say so, but adding a PvP AND a PvE mode seems a lot for a single season, even more if it's time limited.

There will be a minimum of 3 maps (but I expect for it to be actually more, you'll know why after): Junkyard, Hospital and Resort, this was already leaked on 4chan so I'm just confirming it.

The AI present in the mode is according to the 4chan leak, similar to L4D2, here are the 'archetypes' listed in the client: Grunt, Rhino, Rooter, Critter, Leader.

I was also able to roughly get mission objectives for the Outbreak campaign, some of them have multiple naming, which might be due to some changes, as it still is a WIP.

CP00 P1 M01 - Find Way Out CP00 P1 M02 - Reach APC CP00 P1 M03 - Reach APC (Part 2) CP00 P1 M04 - Defend APC CP00 P2 M01 - Get Out Of The House CP00 P2 M02 - Reach House's Roof CP00 P2 M03 - Reach The Extraction Point CP01 M01 - Enter Police Station CP01 M02 - Reach Armory CP01 M03 - Defend Armory CP01 M04 - Reach Garage CP01 M05 - Defend Garage CP02 M01 - Reach Hardware Store CP02 M02 - Reach Welcome Center CP02 M03 - Reach Gun Store CP02 M04 - Go To Resort CP03 M01 - Recovery Equipment CP03 M02 - Reach Hospital CP03 M03 - Observe Leader (also Exit Bookstore somehow ... I guess that's due to scenario updates) CP03 M04 - Find Leader CP04 M01 - Dinner CP04 M03 - Barn CP05 M01 - Destroy Space Capsule

From what I can get with the few strings there and there, there seems to indeed be aliens, and an infection is happening. The "Barn" seems to be the nest of the infected, which you have to prevent from being healed while there are airstrikes happening.

There seems to be a few NPC like a doctor and a car dealer, which you have to protect. You also have to destroy 'coral' which I believe are the 'spikes' on the pictures.

There is a lot around this mode, it's hard to grasp the entire thing. My personal theory is that they are using the event for marketing purposes, teasing a new franchise possibly, otherwise I don't really get why they would add aliens to a game around counter-terrorism.

All of these information can be checked by yourself, all you need to do is a dump of your running client and search for "Fury".

I will keep you informed of anything new in the future patches, especially at the Mid-season !

Made a list of all the Operator Combos I could think of

Posted: 29 Dec 2017 09:43 AM PST

Attacker Combos

Predator: IQ & Dokkaebi IQ's ability can help enhance the South Korean hacker's by showing the precise location of operators whenever they are called. Crucially, IQ can locate Echo's Yokai, drawing him out for Dokkaebi as his phone is immune to calls.

Cluster Prison: Montagne & Fuze Besides providing protection for Fuze while he deploys his charges, Montagne can also block off enemy escape routes from Fuze's clusters.

The Moving Wall: Blitz & Blackbeard A synergy that encapsulates siege and counter-terrorist warfare. Have the Navy SEAL close by Blitz peeking out from his shield and stopping C4 throwers. Brilliant for entering rooms where there are suspected hostiles.

Distraction: Twitch & Montagne The ultimate distractive pairing, the two GIGN colleagues can totally derail enemy teams' strategies if played correctly and cause chaos both in the objective and successfully lead roamers into traps. Best of all, they needn't be close to be effective together.

Open & Close: Montagne & Buck/Sledge A fairly simple strategic combination, with Montagne controlling openings created by either of the two soft breachers, thus allowing fire to be coordinated. Fairly situational.

Flush 'Em Out: Twitch & Fuze Twitch can be used to both neutralise Jäger's Magpies and force operators into areas that can be Fuzed. For greater effectiveness however, you will need to communicate so as not to destroy Twitch's drone..or worse.

Flashing to Hell: Ying & Blitz/Fuze A tactic that is almost impossible for Anchors to counter. Play Ying alongside Fuze equipped with flashes or Blitz with a well-timed breach charge. An experienced Zofia player could potentially replace Blitz as a breacher.

Blood in the Mist: Glaz & Capitão Ran out of smokes as Glaz? Extend his ability by running alongside a Capitão. The Brazilian's additional smoke grenades can be used during the dying embers of a round to help flush out campers and combat ambushes.

The Unstoppable Force: Thatcher/Twitch & Thermite/Hibana The most popular operator combo in the game, this one can be powered either by Twitch's destructive drone or, more recommended, the S.A.S EMPs. The name speaks for itself.

Defender Combos

The Immovable Object: Bandit & Mira Probably the best counter to the breacher pairing, especially when Bandit deploys his electrified barbed wire. Mira's window can be used to time battery placement but is probably best left closed until later in the round. Mira should still watch out for Twitch's drone.

Wrap'n'Snap: Castle & Vigil A wild card option for skilled players, Vigil's BOSG can be used to create a small hole in Castle's barricades that can be either used to peek from the start or shoot from afar whenever enemies decide to come up close.

A Carnival Snare: Frost & Lesion/Bandit Can be a game-saver if executed correctly. Place Gu mines or shock wire in front of the bear traps to finish enemies off or bait enemies to their wounded by pairing with Smoke for maximum damage. Best utilised at objective entrances.

Deadly Potion: Rook & Doc Equipping Rook's armour increases the downed chance after being shot, and so greatly enhances Doc's ability to save himself and others.

Smoke 'n Mirrors: Smoke & Pulse A solid anchoring combo that requires excellent communication but can be deadly and effective even against shield operators. Perfect for winding down the clock and psychological warfare. Could even be used as a roaming combo by more experienced players.

Fortress: Mute & Castle Requiring little management after the prep phase, this one may be a good choice for newcomers, however it can be easily countered by any team with an Ash. Works even better in tandem with a German op.

Digital Fortress: Mute & Bandit With the plethora of electronic gadgets in the game, the importance of both of these versatile operators cannot be underestimated. Bandit's batteries can help extend the life of Mute's jammers if placed wisely by drone holes and doors.

Wall of Disorientation: Ela & Echo These two operators can ensure players are significantly handicapped for engagement with roaming and anchoring players alike. For best results, there may need to be communication between the whole team, although a hidden Echo instructing an Ela with flanks covered by Grzmot mines can also work.

Wallhacks. Wallhacks Everywhere: Caveira & Pulse The ultimate roaming duo, use Pulse for locating enemies or as cover during interrogations and bait Jackal by modulating Caveira's silent step.

M'Lord: Tachanka & Mira Tachanka can be a force to be reckoned when used in conjunction with Mira's windows in certain situations, especially when only his LMG's shield is exposed to enemy fire.

Like a moth to a flame: Valkyrie & Caveira/Lesion Accurate monitoring of Valkyrie's Black Eyes when placed in chokepoints can be used to pinpoint enemies and help support engagements and interrogations. The further from the objective or spread out the cameras are, the better it is to pick Caveira to hunt enemy operators down rather than Lesion, who's shotgun excels in close quarters.

Pistols Only Mode - Would this be a fun addition/minimal data burden for the devs to include? Seeking opinions and discussion of limitations.

Posted: 29 Dec 2017 07:59 AM PST

After some brief searching to see who else has recently brought up the topic, there seems to be surprisingly little discussion about coordinating pistols only in a casual or custom game.

Maybe I just play too much of vanilla casual, but some of the most fun I've had since the White Noise update is convincing everyone to switch to pistols only (Machine pistols on Semi-auto, no sidearm shotty, knives only if last op on a team runs out of sidearm ammo). It's worked flawlessly 3 out of 5 attempts for me, and almost everyone in those 5 attempts seems to love it/get very upset when one guy doesn't hold up on their end. From my brief anecdotal sample, there appears to be a potential demand for it. It would be awesome if we could discuss it a bit beyond "yeah, that would be cool".

I know there's a particular experience ubi is trying to create to distance itself from other FPS IPs, with all the streamlining going on in the casual queue, but I feel the intensity and pace of 'pistols only' makes the game feel refreshing, but very much still r6s. It could also serve as a training module of sorts to let people practice using pistols without the high probability of insta-death by vastly overpowering autos/optics.

My guess is anyone on the dev team would shoot this down for fear of appearing to copy Counter Strike, so maybe all I can hope for is a disc server that would like to organize the game mode in customs.

At the very least, this seems like the sub to organize some custom groups to mess around with the new pistol mechanics.
