Niantic - Higher level raids need to be scaleable

Posted: 15 Dec 2017 11:36 AM PST

I attached an image of both a T4 & T5 raid, this is an accurate representation of 90% of the higher level raids going on in our area in Pokemon Go. Every single time one of these raids pops up and I am nearby, I go over to check it out, and yep, sure enough nobody is waiting to do them. I have even sat around for 15-20min (or longer on some occassions) for many of them and no one shows up. So what is the point of even having a T4 or T5 raid, if the majority of time they go unchallenged? Seems like a waste of time for everyone.

I don't understand why you cannot make T4 or T5 raids (in particular) scaleable? So that if you use your raid pass an no one else shows up then the raid scales to fit however many people are there? Explain to me where the harm in this is?

You read these forums and it is a bad joke, people talking about 4-5 of this legendary or that legendary, while meanwhile I would bet that the majority of your player base probably doesn't even have one legendary. Doesn't this defeat the whole purpose of a "pokemon game" in the first place. Play any pokemon game and any player can catch a legendary, but in Pokemon Go, nope you must raid with 4-8 people to catch that legendary. What is this World of Warcraft? This is a casual game that people can play alone, with thier spouse\sibling\children or with friends why would you gate legendaries in Pokemon Go when it isn't required in any other Pokemon game?

You already severely limit the raid rewards based on the tier level, you already have stardust as a gate for powering up Pokemon (and have greatly reduced the amount people could get through gyms), and furthermore for legendaries you have to walk them 20km just to get a candy, oh, and of course there is no guarantee that you will even catch the legendary if you happen to defeat it (low capture rate) and they cannot be used on gyms anyhow. So what exactly is the point in making them inaccessible to the majority of your player base?

I fail to see the harm if 1-3 people showed up for a T4 or T5 raid and no one else shows up, that it could not be scaled down to allow them to have a chance to tackle that raid? It seems to me the most simple result could be that you significantly lower the CP of the captured Pokemon (if they capture it) as compensation, knowing that to power that Pokemon up would cost significant investment of time (designating as a buddy, 20km walk per candy) It seems entirely reasonable and would allow ALL players to have a chance to capture a legendary and fill thier Pokedex, and isn't that what Pokemon is all about?

Lack of Gen 3

Posted: 15 Dec 2017 12:32 PM PST

Not sure if this has been addressed, is anyone else finding absolutely zero Gen 3 pokemon? All I ever get are the same ponytas, paras, and geodudes with a random eevee thrown in.

Your account will remain terminated??

Posted: 15 Dec 2017 03:33 PM PST

I haven't played for like 2 months because of my work. So when the 3rd Gen came out I was really hyped and asked some friends if we can go to some nests.

So I started one week ago to play again. Today I was doing an Absol raid with 4 friends. After I've caught Absol I got a network error. I couldn't spin the GYM too. I restarted Pokemon GO and couldn't login anymore. I thought "wtf is this..." I always got the message in German "Spieldaten konnten nicht vom Server abgerufen werden." I was really pissed because we wanted to start an other raid -_- I always played legit and never used any 3rd party programs.

So I contacted the Support today and got this message:

"Hello Trainer,

Thank you for contacting us.

Sorry to know that you are unable to access your account.

We've reviewed your account and confirmed you have broken the Pokémon GO Terms of Service and the Trainer Guidelines. As a result, your account will remain terminated.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Best, Shannon Niantic Support"

What, wait... I am banned??? For what??? I did nothing wrong. I have this acc since the beginning and I'm really angry now. What can I do now?

Finally the english weather is good for something

Posted: 15 Dec 2017 11:45 AM PST

For my entire existence i have been jealous of the countries who receive year round sunshine while i was stuck getting a seemingly random pick each day from any season at any point in the year.

Now pokemon go weather has come out and within 2 days i had already seen all the possible weather choices. Finally a silver lining for the days that start sunny but turn into a windy rainy mess.

Quick Overview and Counters for Groudon

The bad case of the Portuguese "extreme" weather

Posted: 15 Dec 2017 05:02 AM PST

I guess all of you already know how this "extreme" alerts are incorrectly affecting some people's gameplay, I just want to show you the Portuguese case.

If you don't know, Portugal is a small country surrounded by the sea from the left and bottom, which means that we get a lot of warnings about the waves, especially during the winter.

Now, I've been checking meteoalarm.eu website from the last couple of days and there are a lot of european countries affected by this kind of warnings, which makes sense, let's look at these 2 examples:

https://imgur.com/PKgElEC

https://imgur.com/bnHutq2

This totally makes sense, the wave could be dangerous so they have a warning levels on their coast.

Now, Portugal isn't represented this way, instead of having the warnings on the coast, we have them on the entire district, like this:

https://imgur.com/MfmtoSW

This causes the players living near the coast, like me, to have extreme weather warnings in game almost all of the time. Right now it's a beautiful sun outside, with almost no wind, and we are being affected because the waves on the sea could be dangerous.

I really think Niantic should do something about this, it just takes the joy to get out and play :/

Where's the immersion?

Posted: 15 Dec 2017 04:20 PM PST

Nothing says immersion like "Trainers, a bunch of deities are randomly appearing at park signs and stuff, go beat them up with your friends", right?

With the release of in-game weather and Niantics whole speil about "we can't do artificial weather, that'd break the immersion!", I'd begun to have faith that maybe Niantic had finally started working on making it so that the game is actually immersive. I really enjoy the whole lore behind the Hoen legendaries, and was, for once, looking forward to how Niantic would put manage to put a real-world spin on the experience.

The recent release of Groudon shows that looking forward was a mistake on my part.

I get that Niantic isn't able to do anything crazy, like changing the real-world weather, or actually bringing an apocalypse upon the world, but they're not even pretending that anything is going on in the real world. They flip a switch, and the legendary Groudon begins "appearing". That's it. Groudon isn't "waking up from an ancient slumber" or "arriving from a distant world", it's just "appearing", making Niantic a quick buck in the process. Wow. Is this the level of immersion I can look forward to in other "augmented reality" games? I can't wait for the new Harry Potter game to come out, so fucking Voldemort can start "appearing" in people's backyards.

It's dissapointing. There are so many unique possibilities to make the arrival of new legendaries immersive and entertaining. What about an Ingress-esque puzzle hunt to unlock the Regis, or a cooperative effort to track the path of Latias/Latios as they fly around the globe? Even something as simple as "Groudon and Kyogre are fighting! Beat them both to make Rayquaza appear!" would be great. At this point, I'd love even the smallest amount of effort put into making legendaries interesting, but it's awfully hard to be optimistic after yet another underwhelming legendary release. Am I the only one feeling this way?

TL;DR: Legendary appearances should be unique and immersive. They aren't. Can't something be done?

Srsly tho, where are all the Hoenn pokemon?

Posted: 15 Dec 2017 01:42 PM PST

Went to Santa Monica pier today, was crushed by a pokemon stampede (https://imgur.com/NZ3B0zH).... and not a single gen 3 among them. I've barely seen any since they were released. Loved pounding the streets on my lunch breaks when gen 1&2 came out to see what randoms I came across, but I've given up :-(

hatching and halloween aside, I've only come across 10 (and the Treecko fled) :-(

[Idea] Double the Attack stat of Meditite+Medicham

Posted: 15 Dec 2017 04:36 AM PST

In the core games, Medicham had ability "Pure Power" which doubles the attack stat. As you've "implemented" the ability "Truant" with Slaking, you could "implement" this ability by just changing the attack stat.

[Question] Stardust investments

Posted: 15 Dec 2017 10:38 AM PST

I have farmed a lot of stardust during this week, but I don't know in which Pokémon should I spend it. Could you tell me some tips about this? Sorry for my English, I'm from Spain :)

Idea for Trainer Battles

Posted: 15 Dec 2017 02:13 PM PST

Just a random idea...I think it'd be cool if Pokestops had a chance to spawn a trainer npc that would challenge you when you swiped on it, and if you beat them you get extra drops or candy for the Pokemon you used to defeat them.

[idea] Niantic, please let us check CPs without having gps on!

Posted: 15 Dec 2017 04:21 AM PST

Ingress has a whole website to use off-line. Why we can't even check CPs without having gps on? To calculate IVs it's necessary to know the CP, and IVs are the basis to most actions in game. Removing this message when checking the pokemon storage would allow playing when traveling in high speed or when the phone is running low on battery.

PvP and Lengendaries

Posted: 15 Dec 2017 09:55 PM PST

Anyone else have a feeling like defending gyms legendaries will not be allowed in PvP. I've maxed out a mewtwo and raikou. With Groudon out now I want to max him out as well but am worried it'll be a waste of dust. Thoughts?
