With midas you get reliable gold, pay less gold, and get an XP multiplier. Why don't slow farming supports (AA, Treant, etc.) get meteor hammer instead of midas? | What do you do in lane against Warlock as a melee hero? Posted: 15 Dec 2017 09:58 AM PST You don't see him too often in low-rank games, but man. It seems like from level 1 he just stands half a mile away chugging Clarities and casting Fatal Bonds any time you even attempt to get near the creeps. That in itself makes getting any last hits a really stupid trade. If he also gets his DoT spell on you or there's another hero with a disable, you're pretty much screwed. I guess the obvious answer is "don't be melee" or "have a laning partner who can heal you or purge it," but given the bracket I'm in, let's assume the Warlock picked after you and everyone else chose heroes and lanes randomly. Seems like all you can do is try to sap exp, but even then it's going to be dangerous. Hope you have a hero who can jungle? [link] [comments]  |

| How do you play the new Brood when you're behind? Posted: 15 Dec 2017 06:21 AM PST Given that Brood's seriously underpowered when she's behind, you're not really mobile to do the usual "stand at the back of teamfights and try to catch up" thing, and you tend to get people coming to hunt you, how should you play a Brood game where the laning phase hasn't gone well? I'm struggling with this at the moment: if I'm ahead from the laning phase all is well, but if I had a tough lane it feels like I should just go web up the fountain and hide so at least I'm not an active liability :) (Note: low MMR, around 2k.) | Change my opinion: Morph isn't OP Posted: 15 Dec 2017 04:42 PM PST Reddit's new favorite hero to bitch about is morph. I do think that safe lane carries are a bit too strong this patch but I don't think morph is one of them. Perhaps its because i havent played against a good one, but i just want to give my reasoning.
I don't know how this hero can even compare to other carries, he just feels neutered. If there are any replays showcasing how broken he is in div5+ bracket please share [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 15 Dec 2017 12:14 PM PST It seems like there was an update and my rank got changed to archon 2 Star from crusader 2 .. there's no way I missed the stars updating and new rank? Additionally I seem to keep getting placed with other players closer to my old rank instead of archon 2.. has anyone noticed anything similar or poss explanations? | What to do as a support against offlaners that push the lane? Posted: 15 Dec 2017 10:52 AM PST There's two scenarios here that I'd like advice on. 1) Supporting against a solo offlaner like dark seer, who constantly pushes the wave, but doesn't have a huge threat of solo killing your carry. As I understand it, you're not supposed to pull when the carry is already tanking the wave under tower, but being in lane full time seems like it's gonna leave your carry underleveled, so what do i do in this scenario? Gank other lanes? Chase dark seer around the the trees to try to stop him from getting xp? 2) Supporting against a strong dual offlane, where they push the wave and then harass the carry while they're tanking creeps under tower. A recent example of this one that i was confused about was one where i was crystal maiden with a luna against an underlord and a jakiro. A lot of the advice i've seen for playing against dual offlanes seems to be centered around pulling repeatedly, but against this type that can instantly nuke every wave down, if you pull, your carry's just gonna get tower dived and killed. In this case as crystal maiden it felt like there was very little i could do to trade with them effectively. Should i just have ditched my luna? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! Playing heroes that aren't traditionally played as supports in the support is one of the few things I do to mix up and just enjoy the game every once in a while. I've done this in the past with a Medallion/Force/Staff/Aghs Weaver, Mek/Arcanes/Vlads WK and Vlads/Drums Sven with max E first, and it was huge fun (even if my winrate in these cases is nothing to boast about). So in a similar vein, how game-ruining would a pos 4 PA be? Start with OoV/Blight Stone and dagger their mid a bunch of times, make Drums/Solar and just try to transition to a core maybe. Thoughts? My team is nix assasin, viper, sven, ursa and me as abadon. Basically I want to know what you would be doing in a game where you are Nyx against a Tinker and you have one sole purpose of making Tinker abandon the game.. So basically : 1 : What skill to start with and whcih lane to start with assuming a pos 4 Nyx ? | Posted: 15 Dec 2017 08:10 AM PST Is kaya a viable item for both magic Viper or right click Viper? I definitely think it is good on the magic Viper for the increased damage and spamablity of spells. I also think it can be good on the right click build. I was thinking you could pick it up after treads aquilla. I find I use a lot of mana with viper, and with tread switching plus kaya I can actually sustain myself. Thoughts? [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 15 Dec 2017 07:02 AM PST So my teammates barely english and insta lock hard carry cores, forcing me in a team situation with four position 1s and me at position 5. I am confused as to what I am supposed to be doing in the time in between the stack/pull timings. If I stay in my lane, I get flamed for leeching experience. If I leave my lane, my carry dies because the enemy offlane is duoing, and I get flamed for not supporting. I ward the enemy runes, keep a TP to negate ganks in other lanes, but mostly I just feel like I'm wandering the jungle doing nothing because I don't have the solo power to farm yet. So where am I supposed to be so I am not stepping on anyone's lane? [link] [comments]  |
| Advice with doing simultaneous things Posted: 15 Dec 2017 06:51 AM PST I just installed Dota2 for the first time. FWIW I used to play the original DOTA on WC3 for several years (DotaCash primarily) but the overall skill cap isn't what it is today with the amount of organization, lane picking etc. I installed it just now because I've had an insanely busy schedule since Dota 2 came out though I have watched several hundred hours of Dota 2 videos, primarily by Purge. I have put in about 5 hours with bot matches with various heroes and the one thing I find most difficult is the intense concentration needed for last hitting and denying, anticipating when to last hit a bit earlier due to tower hits, anticipating when to hit earlier due to more creeps attacking fewer enemy creeps and so on. I used to play normal mode on WC3 DOTA and it almost feels like this is EM with how fast the creeps lose health from other creep attacks. So on to my question what I'm finding hard is being so focused on last hitting/denying makes it difficult to gauge where other enemy heroes are. I feel if I look at the mini map too much I am missing last hits (particularly when they are in tower range or have high ground) and if I look at it too little I'll find someone has just mozied up into my lane looking to gank me. Now these are just medium level bots so they can't manage this, I know it will be much harder with real players. Any advice? FWIW I am trying to make this harder on myself by playing heroes that have poor attack animations, so it will be "easier" when I pick heroes with better attack animations Edit: I do appreciate all the advice. | Posted: 14 Dec 2017 11:45 PM PST So I haven't played much ranked in the past but with the new seasonal system I decided to give it a shot. I calibrated to 3.9k but then started dropping eventually to my current 3.6k primarily due to tinker. I've played 15ish games against him and won 3 (all of which I played Brood). I almost exclusively play support and am forced to first pick. I got sick and tired of losing so I started spamming Broodmother who is my most played hero and very good vs Tinker according to dotabuff. My problem is I know the strategies (or think I know) of how to beat him in lane, catch him in the mid game, and push down towers to win. However, this usually requires a team mate since I generally don't mid (except when I'm Brood) and I find it impossible to explain to team mates how to work together to kill him. Frankly it seems like everyone in this skill bracket who doesn't spam Storm Spirit has no idea how to deal with Tinker. Please, for the love of god, help me understand how I, as someone who is usually forced to first pick support, can possibly defeat this cancer. I know about Tinker cliff wards, I know about smoking to where you predict he will be, I just don't know how to beat him. I want to say it's that my team mates inability to organize a gank and turn it into regaining map control and taking towers, but clearly I must be a big factor since I have such an abysmal win rate vs him compared to the 3k-4k skill bracket in general.
