There is simply too much visual clutter now...! Posted: 21 Dec 2017 12:59 PM PST Let me start by saying I am a veteran player who has logged in pretty much every single day since day 1 and who actually enjoy particle effects. I was one of those people who actually praised the old zodiac armor, particle effects on outfits (such as the ice encased one) as well as the initial infusions. But what we have now is simply too much! Open world bosses, as well as any kind of content where over 5 players join is a cluster fuck. I simply cannot being to describe how frustrating world bosses are now. Lets take Amala for example, from the new Istan Area. All you see during half the fight is a lightshow of different spell and particle effects, shinny new mounts and player names. It is extremely frustrating to do any of these encounters as melee because all I am reduced to doing is looking at the 1 Auto attack chain to make sure I am in melee range of the boss and then spam cooldowns. Again, for world encounters and most bounties I am reduced to having to look at the interface, instead of the boss itself! Then lets not get into the CC/Condi spam that most encounters employ now by adding in to the visual clutter. It has come to the point where I am actively avoiding open world content simply because of how frustrating it is. Anet needs to take a page from FFXIV and maybe even wow. They need to adopt a more slick and moderate design for equipment and spell effects. Full particle effect mounts and backpack wings are ridiculous and all they do is make the situation worse. I don't understand why things changed so much from the initial release of the game where everything was slick, modest, detailed and beautiful. What happened to regular swords and armor? Why do we need full particle effect swords and axes now? There is no Reason why the New specialization spell effects need to be this flashy. We need to have a way to tone everything down, including other player particle effects. I want to be able to look at the boss again, enjoy the details of the fight and enemies as well as the surrounding instead of chasing an invisible mob full of lightshows while looking at my interface seeing if I am landing my attacks. Lore of the Desert: A Lore based take on Path of Fire Elites Posted: 21 Dec 2017 02:17 PM PST Here's a quick lore-savy guide to the PoF elite specs, which are honestly just fantastic. Each elite has a lot of tasty lore throughout the game for you to find. Spellbreaker : The spellbreakers were originally Sunspear warriors who, under the order of Joko's rule were forced to break their spears. These Elonian warriors re purposed their broken spears into dagger heads and continued training in secret to learn how to counter magics of the awakened and other dangerous foes by destroying their enemy's spells with their own magic. Spellbreakers are considered an elite task force, using guerrilla tactics to lead raids on enemy camps. Because of this, they commonly hold high bounties and are forced to frequently relocate and hide. Mirage : Nothing personifies the desert as much as the Mirage. The Mirage uses spacial distortion and crystal mirrors to evade, befuddle, and ambush her enemies in a fashion that leaves little room for error. The key behind the crystal mirror tactics of the Mirage, is the desert itself. As nomadic Mesmers of the desert, the Mirages have learned to use the magic imbued into the desert to aid them in their illusions. The axe is the favored weapon of the Mirage due to it's light weight and versatile uses in their nomadic lifestyle. Scourge : The Scourges of Elona are Necromancers who, instead of using their own life force, use that of their summoned sand shades. Originally disciples of Joko, the Scourges transcended Joko's magic to use against him to protect their lands. The Scourge favors the torch, to help guide the lost spirits of the desert to their side and to the beyond. Firebrand : The desert lore keepers of Elona stand against Joko's armies with axe and tome in hand to preserve the rightful history of their ancestors. The Firebrands were former historians, librarians, and scholars of Elona that have picked up the magically imbued epics and tales of past heroes to fight against the awaken, with the goal of erasing their tainted presence from not only the history books, but the desert itself. Their signature weapon is an axe, as it allows the firebrand to ensure his target is dead in close combat. Renegade : Renegades are Revenants who channel the spirit of the legendary Charr hero, Kalla Scorchrazor, the hero who can be attributed to giving freedom the Charr females once and for all. The Renegade fights her enemies with a shortbow to honor her fallen hero and a ghostly warband to never face an enemy outnumbered. Holosmith : Engineers who wield the sun's power in the form of a blade via their special technology, the photon forge; A conglomeration of extraordinary engineering and crystals from the Zephyrites. The Holosmith puts his engineering feats to work to help Elona prosper by working in productivity fields to power cities. The Holosmith's preferred weapon is a Soulbeast : The Soulbeast takes the bond of a ranger and their pet to the next level. By merging together as one, the Soulbeast can take on the abilities and powers of his pet to tackle greater challenges that may have seem unfeasible beforehand. Little else is known about these strange rangers; besides the fact that their order comes from the legend of a Soulbeast who sought to challenge all the hardships of nature Weaver : Weavers are unique mages that have learned to channel and combine multiple elements together to launch devastating attacks. As tribute to the desert, Weavers watch after and tend to the lands of Elona, facing any dangers head on. They tend to gravitate to a style of swordplay that allows them to best utilize their magic combinations. Deadeye : Deadeyes are mercenaries of Elona who specialize in long range combat and stealth ambushes via a mix of rifle and shadow magic. They utulize a special ability known as a "Mark" to increase their damage against a target. Although Deadeyes commonly align themselves to whoever happens to be paying the best, a few notable members are apart of the Order of Shadows minor corrections courtesy of /u/LetroNyx [link] [comments]

Even tho alot of guilds had given up the hope of ever seeing the cheese again, Anet gave it back to us! [link] [comments]

Bring old LA back. I don't care what it takes. Posted: 21 Dec 2017 07:59 PM PST I'm doing the Order of Whispers story steps again and it's killing me how much I miss original Lion's Arch. I don't care what sort of hokey story manipulation it takes. Turn back time, explode a wormhole, make two elder dragons simultaneously eat each other starting with their tails, whatever. Just please bring back that beautiful city. [link] [comments]
Want to get into WvW for Nevermore, how do I start? Posted: 21 Dec 2017 04:23 PM PST I'm on Fort Aspenwood and I've been trying to log in at different times to get progress on the track, but I just don't understand how WvW even works. Where can I find a list of active guilds and times when my server is active? It's the last thing I need for Nevermore so really want to work on it asap. [link] [comments]
So I ask for coal and you get coal and it was worth it (thx Secret Toy Maker) Posted: 21 Dec 2017 04:49 AM PST So The first time i did this was 2 years ago and they give me some random mats that help a little with some craft i was doing at the time, and last year i couldn't ask cause i was in the hospital, and so for the last year its been like that for me, its been a dull, boring, shitty and depressing year for me, so this year was like wth lets ask secret toymaker for some random shit. So basically my letter said: "Whatever you sent me ill be happy, ill tho if you sent me coal it wouldn't surprised me since its been a shitty year for me anyways etc etc etc" so me being a emo kid i guess depression tends to do that :P And so...today i receive the following: To Dark Heart the great and mighty Receiver Secret Toymaker Gift, I Hear you in need of coal so....... Update for Condi Weaver - 31k dps - Fire/Earth Posted: 21 Dec 2017 02:59 PM PST Just going to make this a quick post to explain the stuff as I doubt anyone is going to dig through my long chat with Evochron but if you want to... To summarise: Other skills keep the overall damage but have a slightly longer ramp-up time. So, to combat that, I actually find starting in fire/fire first and then working around the rotation fills in the initial gaps and evens out the damage more. It also seems to give me 1k more dps on average. Here is the breakdown on the golem... after an hour of messing around: ~31k dps which uses exactly this. Across the hour of runs (some to test other things), my damage graphs levelled off at 30k dps average. I can add more of those here if you want... but here is the rotation video, including my usual mess-ups and irritation at cancelling the third part of auto-attack chains. Lastly, this worked out well on Sabetha last night, giving me a nice ~27k dps when not doing cannons, which is great news for all the bosses that go in and out of the play field. P.S. Using focus is about 2-3k less dps. Going dagger/dagger is weird to me (way different rotation) but is also about 3k less dps. [link] [comments]

Posted: 21 Dec 2017 07:39 PM PST While exploring through Siren's Landing my friend and I happened upon this fancy vacationing cat that we haven't seen anyone talk about before. A nice umbrella for shade, a delicious pie, a plate of fish, and a whole basket full of crabs? Truly an excellent kitty hideaway! To whichever dev put this here, thank you! If you're interested in finding this fine feline yourself, it's east-by-northeast of the Lyssa shrine, almost due north of the vista! [link] [comments]
do you like the new Wintersday Mounts or would you prefer more serious Skins? Posted: 21 Dec 2017 04:50 AM PST i think the new skins are very immersion breaking and doesn't really fit into the game. that's why i didn't bought them. If they had added a Elk mount I would have bought it immediately. [link] [comments]
Will Anet release anymore gem store armor sets? Outfits are boring. Posted: 21 Dec 2017 09:11 AM PST No more mixing and matching in guild wars 2 is something sad to see from a returning player who was excited about PoE but really disappointed with the amount of new armor pieces. A few of the outfits are ok then there are some gawful ones. Everyone starts looking the same after a while. Plus some outfits are ridiculous. Cloth outfits on a heavy class and vice versa? Posted: 21 Dec 2017 11:15 AM PST There's a 50% deal at nuuvem with an additional dollar off with promo code renabolada. Yes, it's an official digital retailer for Brazil (always check the list of official retailers before buying). [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Dec 2017 06:59 PM PST I'm an NA player looking to change it up and transfer to EU. I've heard that EU WvW is really only populated during EU prime time and is desolate the rest of the time. Is there normally any activity during OCX and NA? Also, are there any servers that primarily focus on fights and don't care about PPT? [link] [comments] |
