One More Story Playthrough, and tips for First Person

Posted: 30 Nov 2017 03:34 PM PST

I recently decided to play through story mode a 10+th time, but this time finally determined to NEVER switch to 3rd person. The experience was so fun and new I felt like urging others to give it a try if they still haven't. Below I'll list some tips that I found helpful during the times I was most tempted to switch the camera over.

Tip 1: the controls. I found the best settings for me (on ps4 pro) were a maxed out field of vision, no auto centering (espcially in Vehicles,) and setting "Driveby camera relative to vehicle" off. It may seem like you can't see much, but your mind will quickly learn to keep track of your wheels similar to the way driving a real car works. Disabling autocenter is vital, as it allows me to look left or right before turning into oncoming traffic. The driveby camera setting allows me to take a mental picture of what's ahead, and continue to drive straight for a time while clicking the analog stick to make a 180 turn and shoot behind me. The directional controls get confusing to me if this setting is enabled and I always get my thumbs turned around.

Tip 2: Helicopters - your mortal foe.

By far, choppers have the worst visibility. My biggest advice for flying them in first person is not to give up. Just keep using the landmarks you can see to try and gauge where you are. You also don't have to use the front window to fly. Assuming you have autocenter turned off, you can look down or over at a larger opening in the aircraft and control your flight path based on what you see there. Lastly, you can always press circle to switch over to the cinematic camera. It isn't really first person but for some reason it feels less like cheating than switching your POV.

Tip 3: not really a tip, but an interesting observation - I actually found drifting and preventing spirals much easier in first person. You can really see and feel how far your car has spun and it's so close to reality that it's uncanny.

I'll happily try to give my best advice for any other struggles people might be having with first person story mode

Big rig update idea?

Posted: 30 Nov 2017 07:28 AM PST

I feel like it would be fun to have a big rig update. For example you buy a garage And store like 5 or 10 simis they would have to put in a customization garage but you could change the performances looks maybe interior as well. They could have races or bring in a new person to do a small story line for or something just a thought

[Help] Launcher crashing after update??

Posted: 30 Nov 2017 08:22 AM PST

Hi, I decided to play some GTA 5 today, so I plugged in my hard drive, and opened my desktop shortcut. For some reason I got an update of around 60 mb, but when it was nearly done (around 1mb remaining), my launcher crashed. I have tried quite a few fixes and nothing works. Help?
