Stimpak addiction for future Fallout Titles Posted: 23 Dec 2017 06:11 AM PST Making Stimpaks addictive like drugs such as Jet or Buffout can make Stimpaks a less obvious choice in terms of healing. In Fallout 4, Stimpaks are superior to food in every way, rendering food almost useless once you have a good amount of Stimpaks. Adding addiction to Stimpaks will make Stimpaks less overpowered and foodstuffs a more viable choice. [link] [comments] |
Why does the NCR flags Bear have 2 heads ? Posted: 23 Dec 2017 10:16 AM PST Just noticed it Considering that the in game bears only have one head? Is there any reason in the lore to this or anything? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Dec 2017 12:42 PM PST Whenever I play New Vegas (unless its an evil playthrough) and get to Nipton for the first time, I always make a point to shoot the 'degenerates', to put them out of their misery and as a middle finger to the Legionnaires. Anyone else do this? [link] [comments] |

Fallout 3 Immersive Add-Ons - A guide I made for immersive and lore-friendly mods Posted: 23 Dec 2017 12:24 AM PST EDIT: Consider this my little gift to the Fallout (3) community - Merry Christmas, fellow Wastelanders! :D Here's a little thing I've been working on this week: a 12-page list of Immersive, lore-friendly and unobtrusive mods for Fallout 3.
It's basically a list of a handful of cherry-picked mods I really enjoy in my own playthroughs. It's actually a Fallout 3 version of a similar guide I did for Morrowind:
Unfortunately "Fallout 3 Immersive Add-ons" doesn't roll as nicely off your tongue as "Morrowind Immersive Add-ons" but oh well haha. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Dec 2017 02:24 PM PST Pretty self explanatory. In large games with huge potential play times, there's enough time for you to develop your own habits within the game. Much like in real life. Add to that a huge looting pool and story elements and you have yourself a soup of potential good, bad or fun habits. What are yours? Mine:

Any lore basis for the stagnation of popular culture? Posted: 23 Dec 2017 09:13 AM PST Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the retro-futuristic aesthetic of the series. The soundtrack fits so perfectly with the setting, not to mention the hopeful, excited perspective on space, rockets, etc. (but I don't have to tell you guys that.) What I don't understand is why we're still listening to oldies and dressing like greasers in the future. What is the explanation for this? The most straightforward reasoning I can see for this is simple nostalgia and revivalism of the culture of the 1950's. It would make sense that this might be the way we're going (right now there's just an overwhelming surge of 80's and 90's nostalgia, who's to say 60 years from now we won't yearn for the 1950's in the same way?) Certainly in a world that still functions on 2070's tech, more than just a couple decades of culture survived, right? It's not like everyone is listening to record players because they're the only format left, (which could be a logical lore piece, but from what we see in terms of radio and other tech everything is still more or less run on holotapes.) So essentially culture picks up where it left off pre-war, if you assume the same nostalgic culture existed right before the bombs fell. From the brief glimpse FO4 gives you, its safe to say this was the case. The lore does a decent job of explaining the relevant technological developments, but as far as I can tell, there has been little mention of cultural development other than the assumptions one can make based on observing the dynamics of the world and the characters within it. Is there any concrete lore to back any of this up? Or is it as simple as "it fits the aesthetic." I'm probably overthinking this. Tl;dr - has culture stagnated or is this just a sad, nostalgic world? Posted: 23 Dec 2017 11:06 AM PST I'm having a shortage of . 308 cal for my guardians. But I have a vast amount of .38 cal bullets. Is there any kind of gun with mods ( regular weapons modding) that makes pipe weapons useful once you're at around level 4x? [link] [comments] |

A question about New Vegas dlc? Posted: 23 Dec 2017 03:38 PM PST Do I need need any or all dlc to enjoy New Vegas? If I can't afford all which one(s) should I get? [link] [comments] |
My Confession (or, Why I Sided With The Institute) Posted: 22 Dec 2017 09:48 PM PST Ok, here's the truth. I only became the leader of The Institute because I wanted to upgrade Nick into a Gen 3 synth. I was sure there had to be some way to give my friend the gift of a better body. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Dec 2017 03:19 PM PST So I went to boot up TTW again and everything was going fine till I tried to start the game got Doc Mitchell instead. So I went to check and found out that MO is not putting any mods into the actual game they are installed fine as far as I can tell in the MO data file but that file isn't being put into the actual game. I have googled for a few hours and haveb't found anything. I have another MO setup for skyrim with the same settings and it is working fine. Any ideas? EDIT: NVM somehow restarting pc and making no other changes fixed it. [link] [comments] |

130 hours into my survival run and I ate a corpse by accident! Posted: 23 Dec 2017 03:00 PM PST Something something dark urges... I'm not sure how to rationalize this with my headcanon of me being a goody-two shoes paragon of the wasteland. On the plus side, this answers my earlier question about what to do with dead bodies in my settlement. But seriously, besides not being able to eat normal food, are there any negatives to being a cannibal? Because from where I stand, it seems like all positives. I can intimidate a guy to follow me around and then snack on him when the craving strikes. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Dec 2017 03:00 PM PST Personally I like the vault dweller story of seeing this apocalypse world for the first time but I really like the tribal dart of fallout 2. [link] [comments] |
Im having Framerate issues with Fallout: NV Posted: 23 Dec 2017 03:23 PM PST I have a windows 8 pc thats not very strong internally. When ever i play FO NV the framrate is just low enough to not notice dips but low enough to give me a headache. Suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Dec 2017 02:44 PM PST So, I'm guessing this is due to a past playthrough of Dust, but the music generally playing on the Strip or in Freeside is gone. It's now just playing static, which kinda ruins the atmosphere. Help? [link] [comments] |
Foundation snapping from below? Posted: 23 Dec 2017 10:28 AM PST I have an idea of turning spectacle island into a huge city. But it seems like I can't make a wall around it as it's not very level. Is there a way to have a hovering foundation being snapped to from below? Or some way to sink the foundation into the ground? Because I can't seem to be allowed to place it as I want. I did not like Fallout: New Vegas Posted: 23 Dec 2017 12:04 AM PST Hello! I know the general opinion is that of all the Fallout games, Vew Vegas is the best. I can't say anything about the others, but of the two ive played, which were Fallout 4 and New Vegas, I vastly prefered Fallout 4. My first Bethesda game was Skyrim, and I loved it. I spent hours exploring the lore, leveling up my characters, and having a blast. I saw Fallout 4 coming out, and I was very excited. I bought it the day it came out. I loved it almost as much as Skyrim. I thought the gun gameplay was great, the main story was interesting, great factions, ect. My main problems were the repetitive quests, but overall it was a good experience. After browsing the subreddit, I decided to get New Vegas. I went in with very high expectations, so maybe it would have never reached them. What I liked: Story was better than Fallout 4, I thought the sidequests were better written, and factions were good. What I disliked: Graphics were not great. I might be biased since im fairly young and have grown up with modern games, but I didn't like the art style. The lighting was very poor, the world seemed bland. It seemed like I was being funneled with invisible barriers to certain destinations. The gameplay was not good. I found the movements clunky, and the gunplay awkward. The dialogue system was interesting, but it ruined the immersion and I prefered Fallout 4s. I know most people like New Vegas for the RPG potential and the story, and thats fine. No opinion is better than the others, and I respect whatever you think. I am a young person, so maybe I have a different expectation on what I think makes a good game. TLDR: I prefered Fallout 4s gameplay, and for me gameplay is the most important. New Vegas's story was good, but I found the gameplay and world uninspiring and bland. I would love to hear your opinions, and I have a firm belief that all opinions should be respected and understood if we are to have a functioning society. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 03:52 AM PST Have you been looking for a Fallout based role play that is both lore friendly and literate? Are you tired of rando GMs dictating strange and unusual rules that have no basis in the Fallout world? Do you want a player base that knows the game and wants to play? Then this is for you! I have established a Fallout role play on the Amino app that is dedicated to solid, lore friendly role play in a dedicated SPECIAL system that is both easy to understand and doesn't actually require anyone to roll anything. Play can be 1 on 1, group based or even Faction play and were always looking for new members! If you're interested please follow this here link! Happy gaming! [link] [comments] |
Big cities, communist conspiracies, and a Yellowstone Empire Posted: 23 Dec 2017 12:40 AM PST I've been scrolling through a lot of questions about where another location as a spin off, next installment, or outside developer project could or should take place. I see tons of suggestions for NYC, San Fran, Denver (CO resident here - we already have mutant ganja), Philly, and there was a lot of hype on Houston and Dallas. Don't get me wrong fellow vault dwellers - many of your location suggestions are dope/lit/wicked. Someone suggested a well defended GECK setup in Central Park and I had a single tear of joy fall down my cheek at the thought. But four of those six cities are in the top fifteen population bracket. Part of the charm of the Mojave (unless you're an NCR trooper) is that it's got a pretty small population that still contains an iconic American city's culture. It's a charm that lustfully edged an STD-dripping pre-war culture into emitting that culture two centuries forward to the post-war world. A charm that allowed a debased society to survive a nuclear holocaust (with the help of an enigmatic billionaire). Two centuries later, this crooked culture splashed onto the face of a titanic power struggle. A unique, and in certain ways literal, power struggle. One which fundamentally pitted semi-democratic capito-feudalism against radical patriarchal egalitarian tribalism for asset control over aN ENTIRE GEOPOLITICAL REGION. I digress. Here's my issue with big city suggestions for future installments, and part of why my favorite Fallout games have been 2 and NV. To me, NYC existing in a world where a Glowing Sea exists less than 230 miles north/northeast of the Big Apple shows an apotheosis of errors on behalf of ALL Chinese missile operators on the night of October 23 2077. How are the commies gonna spare and/or miss the literal icon of capitalism? Do you think we spared Beijing? No way. I'd find myself honestly offended at how disingenuous the Chinese would be if New York wasn't the Glowing Sea's cooler, stronger, and more radioactive older brother. We already know the DC Wasteland is not only somewhat habitable but also still pretty recognizable. So is Boston. We saw a recognizable GG Bridge in our favorite cereal boy's perverted implant. At what point do we wonder exactly where the Chins fired their dirty red missiles if all these large cities and standing (sometimes crumbling) infrastructure still exist? Did they sneeze and bump a targeting lever which erroneously adjusted the target just before impact? Did America have spies or hacking that retargeted the previously well-aimed missiles? Did the government fake a school shooting to take away yer guns? Do I sound like Alex Jones yet? We saw the Khans potentially (hopefully, IMO) set up a massive successful empire around Yellowstone. Wyoming, Front Range of CO, MT, ID as a standalone game or DLC would be absolutely beautiful. Leaving pre-war population centers would be a benefit to true cultural development and survival. I leave with my suggestion for a new map/DLC/conspiracy. What about Hawaii? What if the Chinese specifically didn't nuke Hawaii but rather launched a seaborn invasion knowing that the U.S. couldn't possibly expect a conventional attack there or adequately respond during a nuclear strike? Low pre-war population, Pacific target of Asian geopolitical adversaries since '41, superior Chinese cloaking technology, and an untouched tropical paradise. Save for radioactive trade winds and ocean, things could be much different without BoS, Enclave, NCR (though I'd half expect NCR ambassadors), Legion, and all the other gang. Tl;Dr- avoiding the top twenty American population centers, where is a good pick for the next game? Don't you think it's weird that no major city has been vaporized? [link] [comments] |
[FO4] I'm not getting the option for ballistic weave. Posted: 23 Dec 2017 09:59 AM PST This play through, I'm trying to be sneaky and stealthy. No power armor here. I thought I could use ballistic weave to help my armor, but I'm not getting the option for it. I did all of the relevant quests for the Railroad, but Tinker Tom never talked to me about it, so I can't make any. He also doesn't even have any ballistic weave clothing for sale like he normally does. How can I make it appear in my game? I'm on a PC. [link] [comments] |
Farming Legendary Weapons Help!!! Posted: 23 Dec 2017 03:40 PM PST I'm trying to farm the instigating Gauss Rifle. I know there's a way of "locking" the type and prefix of a desired weapon however that requires the saving and quick-saving function. I'm playing on Survival and I can't save anytime I want. Is there an alternative way of farming legendaries with the new Survival mode? [link] [comments] |
