Fallout - I've accidentally discovered the most OP thing in Fallout 4

I've accidentally discovered the most OP thing in Fallout 4

Posted: 09 Dec 2017 11:57 PM PST

Would you like to do literally nothing while all your enemies are immediately insta-killed, regardless of what kind or how high of level they are? Well, apparently you can, if you have the automatron DLC. I run a Fallout stream for a living and I've play thousands of hours of Fallout 4 but I haven't seen anything like this.

There are armor modifications for the protectron heads, one is called Doom and the other is called Golem, it doesn't matter which one you use, but Doom only requires one point of Armorer to make. You'll probably need to complete the Automatron questline as well.

These components have a chance to cause enemies to explode, and it seems that chance is quite high. So high that pairing one with a high rate of fire weapon, like automatic lasers or, better still, two flamers, will cause every enemy in the game to explode almost immediately. Tested in Survival, I've just watched a protectron explode mirelurk queens, deathclaws, sentry bots, doesn't matter. It'll even instakill a behemoth, though they don't explode.

It truly is insane, try it and see.

Edit: here are some clips from my channel of this effect in action (in survival):

Seeing Fallout 4 through a Survival Horror perspective

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 08:05 AM PST

I love the immersive aspects of games and how different games manage to portray their games in different tones and genres, similar to films. Fallout 4 inherently has the survival genre built into its core, particularly with the survival mode and settlement building/junk gathering systems. However, the survival aspects as often overshadowed by other gameplay aspects, such as the massive abundance of grenades, so hey fuck everything cause I fear no evil and proceed to blow within sight. Another is character walk speed, as I can't properly digest everything in the room when I Usain Bolt across the entire floor from 0 to 60 in 2seconds.

So I attempted to record some clips to show how immersive and survival horror Fallout 4 can be in the right circumstances.

I know I don't have the best graphics settings on nor the best ENBs, but it still shows how even with some simple weather and interior lighting mods can made FO4 feel very atmospheric for a survival horror setting.

So what are your ways to make the game be more survival horror-y?

If the nuclear energy revolution created such an abundance of energy, why was dwindling fossil fuels an issue?

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 08:27 AM PST

This is probably some plot point I must be glazing over, but it seems kind of contradictory. Humanity harnesses the power of the atom, and then world war breaks out over oil? My guess would be it's because atomic energy is expensive and difficult to distribute to the world (minus the major powers). Or perhaps the nuclear powered technology created a new elite and stirred up lower-class unrest? Was it simply an unwillingness by the major powers to share? What do you guys think?

Tl;dr - why did the world crumble over fossil fuels despite the existence of nuclear power?

The guides of Fallout 1 & 2 are down

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 11:55 AM PST

I was going to check them and both of them are down, I can't find anywhere on the internet, if someone has them downloaded or knows a way of recovering them I'd be pleased to know how.

What's up with Victor?

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 01:26 PM PST

Victor, the securitron from New Vegas, always struck me as an underdeveloped character. Why does his face change in that one E3 trailer to an angry face? Why does he follow you but then not accompany you? I feel like more should have been done with him in general. Does anyone else share this opinion?

Just listened to some old Hawaiian Folk music and dude...

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 10:54 AM PST

Listen! How cool would it be to have a Fallout game set on Hawaii? I would totally freak out if that became true. Exploring how the island and the people evolved after 2077 while they were completely isolated from the outer world. Or maybe they have found a way to leave the island? I suppose I have a new favourite location for a new Fallout. What do you guys think?

NEW VEGAS SPOILERS(if that matters to anyone 7[?] years later) Question About Possible Fate of Great Khans

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 11:21 AM PST

I know the game is about 7 years old by now, but I'll play nice and say possible spoilers ahead nonetheless. TL:DR; If I take destroy Camp Forlorn Hope for Dead Sea, and then Papa Khan makes me his heir, and I kill him(because who wants to wait to be Khan? Simba couldn't wait and I can't either), is there an option to have Karl fuck off back to Caesar and then have the Khans work for me? Also what would become of the Khans in the end because I don't want them to end up wiped out by someone. So I'm doing a playthrough of New Vegas right now where I'm basically a merciless mercenary(say that 10 times fast). Basically I'll be Mr. House's bitch because he was my employer with the whole Platinum Chip thing, and then he keeps throwing caps at me and having me do stuff for him so I listen to him. Even though Great Khans had a hand in what happened to me, I respect their "a dollar's a dollar" mentality with being mercenaries, raiders and drug dealers. But I'm not here to explain my playthrough. I know that if you destroy Camp Forlorn Hope for Dead Sea and then talk to Papa Khan he'll make you his heir. I also know that if you kill him after that, you become the Khan of Khans(which for my character would be pretty neat, now i'm the Big Bad Khan). I'm wondering how it would work out if I am trying to get him to join Mr. House, and also wondering what would become of the Khans after doing this. Because obviously I don't want to do something that negatively impacts the Khans in the long run if I'm to be their leader. Also wondering about which steps to take at what times to get there. Do I destroy Forlorn Hope first? Oh My Papa? Sorry for the rambling but looking for a little guidance from my fellow apocalypse-lovers.

Has Any of else accidently skipped sections of the story and just kinda went with it?

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 09:01 AM PST

My first play through of Fo3 I stumbled upon Smith Casey's Garage shortly after Blowing up Megaton and apparently skipped a sizable portion of the main quest. Whenever I want power armor training I usually skip to this to quickly get into the citidel to learn it quicker.

Lonely settlement areas

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 03:52 AM PST

I'm looking for somewhere with no settlers, preferably out in the wilderness, where I can build a little cabin to myself. Does anyone know any good spots?

If you could design a unique weapon for the next Fallout game, what would it be?

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 12:45 AM PST

So for something a little fun and different, I thought it could be interesting to see what kind of unique weapons people would design for a future game. By uniques, I mean Fallout 3/NV style uniques like That Gun or Lincoln's Repeater, rather than the Legendary system of FO4 where random weapons are given random attributes. Obviously, it would be more fun and interesting if these are balanced, so if it's a particularly powerful weapon, try not to make it some ridiculous God-tier weapon that does immense damage, has no cooldown, uses the most common ammo type, etc. etc. Let your imaginations go wild, but let's try to keep it within the world and lore of Fallout with this.

Name: Of your unique, obviously.

Weapon type: Is it a sword, is it a pistol, is it some kind of experimental heavy laser cannon for punching through tank armour? Let us know.

Ammo: If applicable. If your weapon has some kind of charge system, like Euclid's C-Finder, this would count.

Balancing: How is this weapon balanced within the game? Is it some mega-powerful weapon with limited ammo, a long-reload and/or is extremely fragile? Or is it some ultra-durable piece that doesn't exactly do an impressive amount of damage, but has a good crit chance and a ridiculous crit multiplier?

Description: Describe the weapon. What does it look like? How does it function? If it's a real world weapon, name it/link a picture. If it's takes elements of real weapons or works like similar real world weaponry, link pictures and describe what part it borrows from/how it works.

Where is it: If you have a specific idea in mind for where it could be found/who has it, lay it on us.

Have fun.

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 12:57 PM PST

Sorry if this is not new but just subbed here to ask about New Vegas. I cannot get over playing Skyrim on the go. But now i near the end of a run i was wondering about other titles. Doom was amazing to play but i want to see Fallout games on the Switch.

New Vegas is one of those games that i could just run over and over. Have they talked about any Fallout games ported over to the Switch?.

Thanks community :)

My Fallout 4 Universe

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 09:42 AM PST

So I've seen some people share their character stories and thought mine might also be fun to share...

So to start my game is modded, I have about 25 mods but only 2 of them are significantly changing the story. The first mod is the Nora mod where your wife survives being shot and you meet her at Abernathy farm. I actually highly recommend this mod if you want a companion from the start or a cool story... this mod is well made and has unique dialogue, a realistic story, fits into the story extremely well, and works great. The second mod is the Pre-War Sanctuary mod. This mod basically just makes the neighborhood like it used to be but with 2 blank foundations and enterable/decoratable houses. Basically I just say there was a GECK kit in the vault and I used it, so then it fits in well story wise... I like to compare it to Vault City in the NCR. Other than those 2 mods the rest are furniture/building mods, patches, follower mods, guns, etc...

So my story starts out normally we get into the vault and Nora gets shot. I wake up to see Nora is gone and then start the mod quest where I have to find Nora. I escape the vault and pick up some supplies and a GECK kit on my way out. When I come to the surface and see everything I head back to my old neighborhood. I find codsworth and have my talk with him and clear the neighborhood. After clearing the area I use the GECK and build a wall around the entire neighborhood. I spend a couple of days building and finishing up some security things before I venture out, leaving codsworth to hold the fort down. Now keep in mind my guy doesn't know what the hell to expect, he is leaving the only safe place he knows and just spent a lot of time building, this is a huge risk to leave it with just codsworth. First my guy finds the gas station and the dog, after aquatinting myself with him I look around the gas station and find a note from Nora saying she is at a nearby farm. I find Abernathy Farm and meet up with her, she explains how she ended up there and I tell her what happens with me etc... we all head back to Sanctuary, I leave Nora with Codsworth, and feel a lot better about my situation. Then I take dogmeat into concord with me to see if I can find the people codsworth mentioned, and of course run into raiders.

After fighting the raiders and saving Preston we all head back to Sanctuary and I get them situated. Preston tells me about the minutemen and stuff and I help him start to rebuild. After I'm made General I spend time clearing the area around Sanctuary and gathering support. Sanctuary's population is around 25 and there are about 8 minutemen soldiers, the rest are just civilians. After some more time goes by and Sanctuary develops a bit I decide to make the trip to diamond city and leave Preston and Nora to guard Sanctuary, I gather some gear, and take dogmeat with me. On the way to Diamond city I meet the BOS. I'm intrigued by them and consider their organization to be a vital part of why they are so successful. I help them get their radio transmitter and continue on my way. I get to Diamond City, meet piper, the mayor, some other citizens, and go save Nick. To speed things up I basically just play the story, meet the railroad and stuff, go back to Sanctuary and build it up to a population of 112 (It's hard making that much housing but I'm OG so I got it to work), and grow the minutemen by taking back the castle. Nora and I go to the institute and meet Shaun and try to convince him he's wrong so obviously we end up fighting and I blow him up.

After the institute gets blown up The Minutemen, Brotherhood, and Railroad all start to work together. There is a lot of arguing between the Brotherhood and Railroad, but I organized a alliance and made the terms non negotiable. The Minutemen started clearing out Boston, Sanctuary started to grow big time, the castle is a huge military/trade hub, raiders have been completely ran out of the Boston area and roam the outskirts, and the commonwealth is basically safe to travel or live in.

My character has become a beloved Minutemen leader who is morally good, respected, dangerous, and a skilled politician. I've used some mods and stuff to make a lot of this possible but I think it's funny because I've unintentionally made the commonwealth kind of like New Vegas. By that I mean the Brotherhood is kind of like the NCR, I let them have their base at the airport and our government works together but they don't run the state even though they want to. The Railroad is kind of a subgroup that is an integral part of our nation similar to a casino etc...

My long term goals are to start rebuilding Boston and see if I can at least get a large area, maybe the Swan park, and get a major town going. I've found a couple of mods that can kinda do that, but I think I like the idea of Sanctuary just being the big city and we all kind of abandon Boston.

What do you think? What's your character like? Should I move my Sanctuary settlement to Boston and make a huge city? or should I just move everyone I can to Sanctuary?

Also sorry for spelling and grammar stuff I typed this on a phone...

Amoral combat quest glitch.

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 11:20 AM PST

so there's this REALLY frustrating quest glitch whenever I do amoral combat. so the quest triggers like normal, I go into the cola car arena, and the the enemy isnt there. after looking the enemy is actually near the glass pane you saw colter at when you were at the end of the gauntlet. I cant shoot them at all but I can use my nuka nuke to kill them. but after the doors open I try to collect me earnings and their corpse is gone. idk what the fuck is going on but it's driving me insane. is there any way I can fix it? I tried reloading my save, restarting my game, everything. but to no avail.. which sucks because I really wanted aternus.

Does anyone know of a fix?

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 10:46 AM PST

Whenever I play on my PC, I play on 144Hz and it seems that my character and the world around me are just going super fast. Especially when I'm inside a building. When this happens, walking is faster than running. It really ruins the immersion and makes it virtually unplayable. It's just like I'm playing the game at 10x speed.

What follower would a cowboy have? (Fallout 4)

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 02:43 AM PST

I'm wearing the Western Duster from Nuka-World and only using revolvers and bolt/lever action rifles. Would Dogmeat be the best option?

I think Sturges shat in my power armor

Posted: 09 Dec 2017 06:39 PM PST

My base is in Sanctuary. Pretty heavily modded game. There was a raider attack and since sturges was by my power armor, I watched him get into it. I was annoyed but I let it go. After the attack he stayed in my armor and was talking to mama Murphy in one of the houses. I pay it no mind and start farming, etc. I see sturges walking around without my armor. I say to myself "where did you leave my armor this time" I go back to the house he was in and find my armor... but I cannot interact with it. I can't take parts off, or get in it. It doesn't even show up on the map. Did he shit in my armor? Is he so ashamed he used his tinkering capabilities to lock me out of my power armor??

All jokes aside seriously how do I get my armor working again.
