- Xur selling Prometheus Lens! Lmao!
- If Bungie apologizes for & fixes the current state of Eververse, non-DLC lockouts, lack of endgame activities and missing Heroic Strike modifiers, I will shave my head and glue the hair to my face as a beard.
- If it takes 3 years to flesh out a Destiny game, then a game reboot every 2-3 years will literally kill the game.
- The Eververse defense that "It's just cosmetic" isn't valid in a loot shooter
- Lost in all this salt is a very real danger on Mercury. Please be very careful, guardians.
- [Spoiler] So let's talk about the Horde Mode that's sitting in D2, just waiting for it's own dedicated game type.
- CoO DLC trailer is blatant false advertising, and Bungie needs to be called out for it
- Luke Smith twitter update
- I fear when The Dawning drops, there won’t any space to store those amazing sets for each of my characters. Please bring back “Kiosks”. MAKE IT HAPPEN PLEASE.
- Bungie take note: you gave us all a powerful, unique weapon and the community is loving it.
- If Xur sells Prometheus Lens tomorrow, I will shave my head and glue the hair to my face as a beard.
- Exotic drop rates seem to have dropped significantly after the update
- Don't forge your 4th weapon until the end of the week.
- INSIDE SAINT-14 ROOM
- I thought M.O.T.W was for content creators ...so does that include sponsored content / advertisements? Because the winner for this week's M.O.T.W is a video that "was made on behalf of Activision as an advertisement"
- If Bungie gets rid of Eververse in Destiny 2, I will shave my head and glue it to my face along with getting the Bungie logo tattooed on my inner thigh
- Curse of Osiris and Eververse is getting the brunt of the salt but if D2 wasn’t so watered down I don’t think the player community would be lashing out so much.
- Officially World's First
- Amanda will turn 3 Rare Transmats into a Legendary Transmat
- I really wish the Curse of Osiris storyline didn’t waste the potential of one of the most renown Guardians ever
- Xur now comes at 9am PST / 5pm GMT / 6pm CET every week
- Playerbase Goodwill seems to mean a lot more than Bungie thought
- Powerful Engrams capped without buying DLC
- Thanks to Jon W. for the lesson in basic game theory!
- "When you're making games and you stop talking about joy, or fun, or engagement in the office and instead start talking about how to part people from ten of thousands of dollars of their money for something completely ephemeral... you have gone down the wrong path."

[D2] Xur Megathread [2017-12-08] Posted: 08 Dec 2017 09:25 AM PST Agent of the Nine, Xûr Description: Xûr comes and goes freely, his strange curios too valuable to risk. Location: European Dead Zone
Note: You do not need to own the DLC in order to use Prometheus Lens. What's a Xûr? Xûr, Agent of the Nine is a strange vendor who randomly appears in a Public Sector in each of the four Worlds, depending on planetary alignments and Bungie's whim. Xur sells Exotic equipment and only takes Legendary Shards in exchange for them. TL;DR: He's the Santa Claus of Destiny and every weekend is Christmas. Sometimes he brings you what you want, sometimes he brings you coal. Mostly it's coal. When does Xûr visit?

Posted: 08 Dec 2017 06:43 AM PST One of the things that I feel like people often fail to mention is how that if Destiny 2 was a DLC for Destiny 1 all the problems that you see right now would've not existed. People complain about Destiny 2 because they compare it to other games that exist out there and they most importantly compare it to its predecessor. The biggest problem with Destiny 2 is that I didn't build up on the already existing worlds, but removed them and many characters and by doing that they essentially rebooted the game. which I find to be very damaging to the Destiny franchise.
However, what I find to be really concerning is how that Activision wants Bungie to reboot the Destiny world again and not build up on it, I've came to that realization after reading an old contract between Bungie and Activision that was released back in 2012, Here are two instances where Activision says that there will be 4 Destiny games and not one huge Destiny game:
Note: This contract was written back in 2010 and released in 2012. Many things could've changed so don't look at these things and see them as 100% confirmation of anything. So it's very clear from the contract that Activision wants Bungie to create 4 separate games and not one big game. Which is something that I'm very much against now that I've seen what Bungie is truly capable of doing (which is not much). A world where Destiny is one big game with 10 different Planets and Moons to explore, a lot of weapons, characters, missions, etc. All that I can hope for that is we don't see a "Destiny 3" and that the world of Destiny 2 is expanded upon and is improved further for what's left of the 10 year contract. The Eververse defense that "It's just cosmetic" isn't valid in a loot shooter Posted: 08 Dec 2017 06:16 AM PST Based off a number of posts I'm seeing in and outside of the subreddit. The defense of "It's just cosmetic" doesn't work with Destiny. You can use it as a deflection in other games, but not here. Destiny is a game that encourages maximizing your character - through mods, weaponry, exotics and a factor a lot of people consider important (including the higher-ups at bungie, clearly) - appearance. If this was not the case, no one would have cared when AoT / RoI dropped with armour ornaments, and no one would have cared when Bungie changed the shader system for D2. Having a form of customizability be locked behind a lootbox/paywall system is detrimental to the experience, and has removed a layer of enjoyment from the game. Oh yeah, there's also the fact that statement is completely false, too. (edit: it seems the link is broken. it was a link to an exotic eververse-only ghost which would give more drops from public events - there are more like it, some including 50-metre range resource detection) [link] [comments]
Lost in all this salt is a very real danger on Mercury. Please be very careful, guardians. Posted: 08 Dec 2017 05:19 AM PST
Posted: 08 Dec 2017 04:02 AM PST For those of you who have completed the Mercury adventure "A Bug in the System", or seen Datto's video, you'll know that Destiny 2 is sitting on a horde mode game type. The adventure is very similar to Warframe's defense missions, where you guard a central location from waves of enemies. This little adventure is probably my favourite piece of PVE content from the new DLC. It's tragically locked at 2 waves in the adventure, but this tiny mission holds HUGE promise for fans of horde mode game types. So PLZ Bungo. Implement a dedicated horde mode I can play with my buds. It should be easy to write in the game, because it's essentially already there. Considering the adventures are presented as "our guardian is going into the forest to mess up the simulations / data", it makes complete sense for Osiris to call us up on our ghost one day and say "Aw hey, it me, the most notorious guardian ever, having a vacation. So the Vex have figured out how to simulate the Taken. Get into this simulation and disrupt it as much as you can. The more you disrupt, the more we win against the Vex or something whatever, Thanks, k, bye". We load into the Horde area (that's already there, and looks great btw). Me and my fireteam have to shoot at bad guys in waves before at a certain increment (5 waves in), an exit portal loads in and gives us a 1 minute time frame to get out there. Osiris can only hold the exit door open for a minute or something. Boom. Lore. You're welcome writers. My team can decide to get out of there with the loot we get, or we can decide to mess up the simulation for another 5 waves. As the simulation becomes more and more unstable, different enemies can come into it. We've got Cabal, Taken, Vex, all trying to get to the middle point to get to the magical McGuffin in the middle. The mode starts out at 270 power, gets to 300, and then the last wave is prestige level, for the absolutely insane guradians, wanting a real challenge. The simulation could have a limit, of 25/50 waves, or something. Throughout the simulation, big yellow bar bosses appear and have chances of dropping engrams. Say at the end of the simulation, you get a powerful gear drop, with a chance of exotic engrams dropping for each time we finish the 5 wave increment. You could have every sort of award for this game type. Legendary engrams, exotic engrams, an emblem that says how many waves you've cleared, an aura for the people that do the last wave... I mean come on. THIIIINK about the potential. SURELY Bungie can't spend all the time developing this resource and not utilize it as a dedicated mode. The replay-ability would be INSAAAAANE. Pleeeeaaaase. You're the studio that came up with Firefight. Let's do it. Like everyone, I'm excited for what the future of this game holds. Still loving the game despite it's flaws. Just want it to succeed. EDIT: I meant DEFENSE mode in Warframe. Thanks u/account_destroyed, u/Pobchack [link] [comments]
CoO DLC trailer is blatant false advertising, and Bungie needs to be called out for it Posted: 08 Dec 2017 07:59 AM PST To be clear, I am referring to this trailer uploaded by Destiny's official YouTube channel. In brief, this trailer advertises the Curse of Osiris expansion and features selling points that are not part of the expansion. The low-intensity parts of the trailer (showing snippets of the story, of Mercury, of characters using pre-existing supers on expansion enemies, the raid lair) are honest. The high-intensity parts of the trailer - where they show new sparrows, and super-cuts of all the new ships, ghosts, and emotes - are not part of the DLC at all. Ships, sparrows, ghosts, and emotes are not affiliated with the expansion in any way, shape, or form. They are microtransacations that all Destiny 2 players are encouraged to grind out or purchase directly, regardless of whether or not they own the DLC. While they share a theme with the DLC, they are otherwise unaffiliated. Why is this an issue? This is a huge issue because it gives anyone on the outside looking in the false impression that, if you buy the DLC, you will earn or otherwise enjoy this gear they're showcasing. This means that potential buyers (especially around the holiday) whether it's parents buying for their kids, people new to Destiny, or even D1 vets are being lied to. This also gives the impression to mainstream media who may not actually play the game that this expansion is giving players what we want. In fact, this DLC enforces the status quo of bright engrams as the only real endgame, and actually makes it worse. How does it make it worse? The new exotic ghost shells are massively overpowered and give remarkable benefits. Before one could defend Eververse by saying it's all cosmetic, but the new ghost shells give things like 50m cache detection range on all planets, 10% extra EXP from all activities, quick-summoning and auto-reloading on all sparrows, and more. If you spend silver to buy new engrams and get an exotic ghost shell, you have paid for a gameplay advantage, no matter how small. Even if anyone wants to defend Bungie by saying "you can earn engrams normally," Bungie has made clear that they can and will adjust bright engram requirements at will to make sure Eververse remains profitable, whether this means doubling XP requirements for engrams or lowering XP from activities. This system is made to encourage players to spend money. tl;dr Bungie hides the fact that they've released a paid expansion where all of the fun rewards are hidden behind RNG microtransaction lootboxes, and unless we cause a huge scene (AGAIN) it will happen next DLC too. Full disclosure, I created a similar thread the other day however it was buried amongst other CoO reactions. I believe this is a significant issue and have streamlined my thoughts and argument for this post. [link] [comments]

Posted: 08 Dec 2017 04:32 AM PST As the title says. I'm sitting on 200. I wish there were kiosks so I can dismantle all of those ships, sparrows, ghosts.... it would truly make our life's easier. After all I spent real money on all those cosmetics and hate the fact that i have to get rid of them because lack of vault space. With kiosks it would be a different story. Bungie take note: you gave us all a powerful, unique weapon and the community is loving it. Posted: 08 Dec 2017 10:48 AM PST Seriously, I can't remember the last time people were so excited to see Xur, and I don't think I've ever seen people so eager to hit the crucible in D2. If Xur sells Prometheus Lens tomorrow, I will shave my head and glue the hair to my face as a beard. Posted: 07 Dec 2017 05:52 PM PST Do it you tentacle-faced shit. Fuck my shit up and make this weekend 100% Trials of the Lens. Edit: I'm not bald. It's called a receding hairline, ass clowns. Edit 2: REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE The hair appointment is scheduled. OP will deliver. Edit 3: Just wanted to say I have heard your feedback on me making a hair appointment. Don't worry, I'm always listening. Going forward, I will be communicating more frequently. Love, Census. [link] [comments]
Exotic drop rates seem to have dropped significantly after the update Posted: 08 Dec 2017 01:16 AM PST Since I started leveling today, I've earned two exotics, one from pvp and one from the vanguard powerful engram. After hitting 25 and completing my weekly objectives, I farmed around 30 heroic public events and 2 heroic strikes and haven't gotten an exotic while before I would have gotten atleast 2 with around 3 hours of farming. Is anyone else noticing this? edit: Just remembered one was from the weekly engram, only one from pvp [link] [comments]
Don't forge your 4th weapon until the end of the week. Posted: 08 Dec 2017 04:00 AM PST The materials you need for forge weapons only drops while you have a unfinished verse in your inventory. So if you want to get a head-start on next weeks weapons, you need to keep at least one verse active. There is however a max limit to each item in your inventory too, 3 blues and 20 greens. FAQ about the Forge: Q: How do I obtain the verses? Q: Where do I get the materials and what do I need for my verse? Q: Can I get more than one of a weapon/verse? EDIT: added FAQ. Posted: 08 Dec 2017 03:45 AM PST Everyone who loves or at least used to love the game is just so frustrated that they are pouncing on anything and everything they can which of course is CoO and Eververse. However if D2 wasn't so muted, so watered down we would be much happier and this wouldn't be the huge deal people are making it out to be. My suggestion is increase time to kill, increase grenade and melee strength (I mean really you need 3 melees to kill an opponent) and add back 6v6 in the crucible. Get closer to what D1 was. Amanda will turn 3 Rare Transmats into a Legendary Transmat Posted: 08 Dec 2017 05:07 AM PST Title. Apparently this is a little known fact among the community. No doubt, due to the piles of salt burying the useful information for those of us who still enjoy the game. Edit: For those who don't know, legendary transmats are the ones based on the various races.
CoO Transmats are also included in this. [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Dec 2017 11:29 PM PST This is going to be a bit of a rant here. It makes me beyond sad that this was the story was got for Osiris. It was more interesting than the Red War but that's not saying much. Osiris, one of if not the most renown Guardian in Destiny history is the main focus of this DLC. We see him for what feels like 1/4 of the entire story and 99% of the time it's just his reflections. And his most epic scene is in the opening cinematic. He didn't live up to the lore at all. We do almost everything for him in the story to stop the boss. What boggles my mind even more is he clearly has no idea what's been happening on Mercury; how literally right behind the infinite forest gate is the almighty sucking up the damn planet. yet he doesn't seem to notice or care. Umm.. What?? He should have been next to us in the flesh, helping us learn the ways of traveling through timelines, taking us to different points in time. He could have taken us to a timeline where 6 guardians were frozen in time fighting the Templar in a Vault of Glass. We could have walked in and saw everything frozen like the opening cinematic. Our guardian could have told him how we defeated Atheon and all the challenges the Vex put before us. He could have taken us to the past to meet a simulation of Saint-14 or to show us when he got exiled from the city. He could have told us all about his obsession with the Vex and how he wanted to see the city one day again. We could have fought side by side with him defeating Penoptes and he could have sacrificed himself for us. What if the boss was trying to crush Osiris within his hands but Osiris was holding his hands back with his brute strength and he yelled "Guardians make their own fate!" and you had to shoot the boss but upon explosion the hands crush Osiris killing him. Then after a moment of sadness he could have self-res'd using radiance in an epic cutscene and then you and him walk out of the infinite forest together and Ikora is waiting there. She invites him back to the city and a celebration is held. The people propose he should be the new Speaker but he respectfully declines, saying his work is never finished, and he must go back to the infinite forest. And as he's about to leave, Saint-14 shows up and says "welcome back." And then the cutscene ends. I literally created this whole thing off the top of my head as i was writing it, and it sounds 100x more interesting than what we got. I'm sorry but whoever is in charge of the writing team, get it together. The lore and flavor text in the game is outstanding. And maybe i'd forgive this lackluster dlc if it had a compelling and interesting character, but you butchered Osiris for me. And honestly, it really sucks. He is as boring as any other in the game, and not only does he not have the mystery people like The Exo Stranger had, but he doesn't have the badass writing i was expecting for his character. I hope in the future you don't give these amazing characters such terrible writing. No wonder people make fun of Destiny's story. It really feels like you guys take it as a joke. We don't want this shit written for little kids. We want the story and characters to have depth. We want them and the story to be complex. We want the universe explored and fleshed out and the badass characters we read about in the grimoire to come to life; not some husk of a character that is about as interesting as a brick wall. I don't care if you guys copy word for word, scene for scene from those grimoire cards. In fact i rather prefer that. Sincerely, a frustrated fan. [link] [comments]

Playerbase Goodwill seems to mean a lot more than Bungie thought Posted: 08 Dec 2017 04:37 AM PST As a preface: While I'm not as out for blood as most people seem to be about Prestigegate and Bungie locking non-DLC players out of Prestige activities, I fully understand why most people are. I also don't believe this was a malicious act by Bungie. I think it was an oversight, because no one in their studio could be bothered to see this consequence coming, and it speaks more to incompetence than it does to nefariousness. I also believe that, had something like this happened in D1, this outcry wouldn't have been nearly as bad. But what's the difference? Player goodwill is gone. No one is on Bungie's side anymore, wanting to vouch for them or give them the benefit of the doubt. People are at their neck, and the fact that major news sources have picked up on two different outcries in the span of just ONE MONTH is shocking. We have gone from one of the most dedicated fanbases to screaming for someone to be burned at the stake. It was just interesting to me seeing how much of a difference good will actually makes. Its so sad going from a starry eyed D1 player to this, seeing Bungie and the franchise attacked at every opportunity because of what they've done to the game. I miss feeling excited to play Destiny and get more DLC for it :( [link] [comments]
Powerful Engrams capped without buying DLC Posted: 07 Dec 2017 10:57 PM PST I am a 304. I have every slot upgraded to 305 (300+5) except my boots. Every pair of boots is at 304 (299+5). Since the release of CoO, none of my powerful engrams awarded for milestones have dropped above 299, even for other slots that previously been offered at 300 thus infusing to my current 305. I do not yet own Curse of Osiris DLC. I certainly hope this is just my horrible disgustingly embarrassing luck. Thanks in advance internet, can anyone that has not yet reached 305 that does not yet have DLC confirm that they have received powerful engrams above 299? (question) Edit -- I should add that I have one Titan, to which I am referring, and one Warlock at 302, which I dont touch until I have finished everything on my Titan. I've made no others or deleted any. Update-- Ok so I just ran Nightfall, the 270 obviously, since I am NO LONGER allowed to try prestige NF, and was dropped A PAIR OF BOOTS!! But alas, they were just 299. Zavala's Luminous Vanguard Engram? Also 299. Switching to Warlock. Update-- Ok, just received my first powerful engram reward for a weekly milestone for my 302 Warlock. I was awarded a 297 chest, my current equipped chest is 304. My drops are capped at 297 for my warlock. I am grinding my milestones and will update as I receive. Thanks to Jon W. for the lesson in basic game theory! Posted: 08 Dec 2017 08:44 AM PST So as most of you will recall from this week's Bungie update, Jon Weisnewski noted that a fix to the Prometheus Lens is coming next week and that "Until then, please go easy on the players who have yet to get their hands on one (we know you won't, but it's been said)." My friends and I have treated the Lens as follows in the Crucible: we don't equip it at first, but if the other team is using it, then we spartan laser them to hell. But in thinking about how we would approach this situation in Trials with locked loadouts, it dawned on me that our good friend Jon W. apparently wanted to give us all a lesson in basic game theory and specifically the Prisoner's Dilemma. Before loading into Trials, we have no idea who the opponent is and can't communicate with them. Both teams would have more fun without it becoming a laser-fest, so the optimal outcome is we trust the opponents and don't use the Lens. But, of course, how the hell can we trust an opponent we don't even know and will probably never see again. So, we assume they will use the Lens, so we use the Lens so we have a fighting chance, and everyone has a poor Trials experience. TLDR: Trials this weekend = Prisoner's Dilemma at work! EDIT: And now that Xur is selling it, everyone can participate in this lesson! [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Dec 2017 08:15 PM PST There are a lot of comments being made about how Bungie's end game has become about using the Eververse to withdraw as much money as possible before the whole thing collapses. It is making the whole experience feel like a poorly concealed Free-To-Play(FTP) game with a full game price tag. It reminded me of a youtube video I watched from the guys at Extra Credits which dove into FTP game design and Micro-transactions. The quote is from one of their videos on the subject of how designing a game around those who will drop thousands of dollars on micro-transactions is a losing move. Basically you are forgoing the revenue an every-day player who cannot or will not drop large amount of money into the store by making it impossible for them to compete or have a reasonable chance of obtaining an item they want. And you are driving away the big spenders because they have no one to play with or show off to because the vast majority of players have moved on. If anyone is interested here is a link to the video: Extra Credits: Free to Play The quote is at 4:38 Edit: u/Clarkarius and u/Eicr-5 pointed out that EC's most recent video on Losing Player Trust has a lot of relevance to all the debates going on right now. Some people are commenting that I have no evidence that Destiny 2 is just a gateway for the Eververse. And that is true. I don't work for Bungie nor have I hacked their financials. But when the items I grinded for the most in D1 are not only accessible through the Micro-transaction store, and that I am forced BY DESIGN to visit the Micro-Transaction store in order to clear my inventory, I have lost Trust in Bungie's good intentions. You may not care about Micro-Transactions. You may not even blink an eye going to Tess every week. But you are still forced to go to their store and look at what they are selling. And any sales or business person can tell you just how valuable it is to just get people looking. [link] [comments] |
