Lighthouse Chest Puzzle Instructions (Spoilers)

Posted: 05 Dec 2017 10:02 AM PST

When you enter the lighthouse, there is a gate with a chest behind it underneath the middle walkway on the left. (Hunters can see it on their mini map)

To open gate you need to find 5 books with glowing symbols on them. Must be done in order.

1: Go to Brother Vance and find the book with a glowing yellow symbol on it on the table. Activate the symbol.

2: Second symbol is on a bookshelf on the wall to the right when you enter.

3: Third is directly right when facing the entry gate, on the front wall.

4: Fourth is on a table across from the second symbol.

5: Fifth is on the far left wall up high, there is a shelf jutting out to jump up on.

6: Last there will be a conflux that spawns near the fourth symbol. Interact with it and the wall comes down! Enjoy your loot!

Easiest to do if you find all the symbols first as it is on a timer.

Edit: Thanks to kickassfred for the help!

Bright Engram Loot Table Getting Out of Hand

Posted: 05 Dec 2017 09:57 AM PST

Is it just me or do Bright Engrams have WAY too big a loot pool? Compared the the eververse engrams from D1 there is a ton of cool loot that can only be earned from bright engrams. I think it's safe to say that microtransactions are getting way out of hand in D2.

Bungie are missing a great opportunity to make pretty much every single event in D2 more rewarding by offering a small chance at earning items such as Weapon/Armor Oranments, Ships & Sparrows, Shaders, Ghosts.... Wait... it's almost as if..... GODDAMMIT. Yep, things that were just part of the regular loot table in D1 are now only in bright engrams and boy is there a good amount of loot that can't be earned by completing a strike, or raid, or crucible match, etc. Destiny 2 would feel SO much more meaningful if all the bright engram loot could be earned through regular gameplay as end of activity rewards. I'd be fine with a middle ground: keeping shaders, ghosts, and emotes as the bright engram loot pool but jesus there is just way too much loot that they are putting behind a fucking paywall. Is anyone else tired of strictly earning weapons, armors, and emblems through gameplay. Personally I don't look forward to getting rewards because it's so predictable: "Oh wow, another Uriel's Gift" [DISMANTLE] "Hey that armor piece that I have 7 of" [DISMANTLE]. It'd be nice to earn a cool sparrow, ship, ornament every now and then.

tl;dr Bright engram loot table has loot that should really be rewards for regular activities like strikes, adventures, lost sectors, crucible, raid, trials, etc.

EDIT: After engaging with you guys in the comments, I'd like to highlight the main issue and propose a solution. It seems like the root of the Bright Engram issue is that there's a ton of cool loot that you can earn through leveling up, but that can't be earned upon immediate completion of an activity. Gone are the days of beating a raid and getting excited at finally earning the raid ship or shader. At the very least, Bungie should move some of these rewards to endgame. Let us earn exotic ships, sparrows, ghosts, and armor/weapon ornaments by beating the raid or going flawless in trials, or beating the Nightfall. Really simple way to make the game feel much more rewarding.

EDIT 2: To all of you who argue that Eververse is just providing more loot for us to earn by getting XP, just remember that most of the rewards from those loot boxes were part of the regular loot pool in D1 and some of them were specific to certain activities. This is what made Destiny great. By relegating all of these cosmetic items to one source, you take away the fun surprise of completing an activity and getting something that only that activity drops. If you still disagree with me you probably hated Destiny 1. Either way, this game has clearly changed at its core and if this is the path that Bungie continues with, god help them...

Posted: 05 Dec 2017 10:21 AM PST

Buddy of mine got it on his 2nd public event

3 round burst. Heals wielder upon kill. Equips in your kinetic slot.

Looks insane. Puts the Better Devils to shame. Higher rate of fire means better accuracy too as per the new sandbox update.

Hello Guardians,

I hope you are well on a day where discoveries will be made, time will be bent and new and exciting loot awaits

Prepped for Launch

Curse of Osiris will launch following a brief maintenance period which was detailed in last weeks This Week at Bungie.

Following this, CoO should be available and begin the start of a beautiful friendship with the new Daily Reset Time of Destiny (9am Pacific - Basically, add 8 hours to your current reset time).

Below is a table of Times to look out for so you know when you can join the fight:

JST 12am 1am 3am
AEDT 2am 3am 5am

As promised, here's the Countdown if you need to take in every minute

If I have missed any, feel free to throw them at me so I can update the table

  • To follow regular updates, follow @BungieHelp or the Bungie.net help page.

  • Patch notes will be available AFTER the maintenance is complete (Or yesterday if you're an over excited Vex).

  • There is also a Sandbox update coming with Curse of Osiris. We have 0 clues to what will be changed regarding this but once Maintenance is complete, Patch notes will become available afterwards detailing these changes.

Pre-Load and Storage Requirements

Players may begin to pre-load Curse of Osiris starting at 8 AM PST on December 5, 2017. The following storage requirements must be available to begin pre-loading content:

  • PlayStation 4: 88 GB

  • Xbox One: 44 GB

  • PC: 68 GB

Actual DLC size is around 6GB

Start me up

Destiny 2 Expansion I: Curse of Osiris continues your Guardian's journey with all-new story missions and adventures set in a new destination, Mercury. Journey through time and space to learn the secrets of Osiris, avert a dark future, and rebuild the ties between the legendary Warlock and his greatest student - Ikora Rey.

Features:

  • Explore Mercury and its mysterious "Infinite Forest"

  • New story missions and adventures

  • New themed weapons, armor, and gear to earn

  • New cooperative activities

  • New competitive multiplayer arenas

  • And more...

You can now purchase the DLC seperate from the Expansion pass

Disclaimer - Stores may vary on region. You can definitely buy CoO on ALL platforms as a singular DLC

So what can we actually expect?

New story campaign

The story of Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris is focused on the exiled Warlock Osiris and his battles against the Vex.

New destination: Mercury

A whole new destination previous seen only in a couple of Crucible maps, Mercury is a planet dominated by the Vex. As well as playing host to the story campaign, in boasts a random dungeon called the Infinite Forest and the biggest public event in Destiny 2. It also houses the new social space, the Lighthouse, previously seen in D1's Trials of Osiris.

New Raid Lair: Eater of Worlds (No launch date as of yet)

Curse of Osiris brings us a brand new kind of Activity called Raid Lairs. These are shorter but more intense raid experiences set in and around existing raids. Leviathan will eventually have two. The first is called Eater of Worlds and is part of Curse of Osiris.

New and Power cap: 330 (335 wth Mods)

You'll be able to make your Guardian much more Powerful since Curse of Osiris raises Destiny 2's Power cap to 330 – or 335 with mods. The difficulty of the existing Leviathan Raid will be scaled to match this new cap, and will award more Powerful gear for the same reason.

The Level cap is also rising to 25

Heroic Strike playlist

Strikes will return to endgame status with the introduction of a challenging Heroic Strike playlist. No word yet on the loot or if Modifiers will be included.

New Heroic Adventures

Adventures, Destiny 2's sidequests, will also be given a challenge upgrade in the form of Heroic variants. Expect the usual uptick in enemy level and damage dealt.

New weapons and armour

You'll be able to earn new weapons and armour in Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris. Details and images detailed below

New weapon quests and forge

New weapon quests will be added with Curse of Osiris, but rather than receiving them randomly, you'll find them arrayed on the wall of the Lighthouse as part of a new weapons forge. Complete the quests, or "verses", attached to the appropriate nodes on the Forge to unlock a number of Vex-themed weapons created by Osiris himself. This was shown in Bungie reveal 2 (Link below)

New multiplayer maps

Bungie has confirmed three new multiplayer maps. Pacifica is set on Titan and Radiant Cliffs. We don't know where Wormhaven is set, but we do know it's a PS4 exclusive. Bummer

Telesto and Jade Rabbit return

From the reveal trailers these exotics were spotted along with speculation of a returning Thorn and Red Death (In Hand Cannon form)

No news of any Vault increase?

Sorry but no

What will happen if I DO NOT buy the DLC?

It's very likely you will be locked out of activities that are coming with Curse of Osiris. Back in D1 not updating meant this happened for some activities also so there would be no surprise if any of the new content was behind the DLC. Base game will of course, all still be there for you but new things will likely be locked behind the level increase from 21 - 25.

The New Age

Following last weeks State of Destiny 2 a lot of us will be aware of some changes to the landscape of the game which are also following the DLC launch. Here are the notably changes coming December 5th.

December 5th

  • Armor Ornaments (for Vanguard/Crucible/Trials/Iron Banner/Factions/Raid Lair)

  • Rare mods dismantle into gunsmith materials + chance of mod components

  • Banshee sells legendary mods for mod components + legendary shards (selection rotates daily)

  • Rahool sells legendary engrams for legendary shards

  • Daily challenges and strikes reward an increased number of tokens

  • Cayde's chests will always reward at minimum some tokens of the destination

  • Resources nodes will always drop resources (100% drop rate)

  • Increased values of resources (+50% for common, +250% for rare)

  • Reputation required per reward engram will increase for destination factions (+37%) and gunsmith (+50%)

  • Leviathan raid tokens can be redeemed without needing to complete the raid once

  • Remaining raid keys will be wiped from the inventory on weekly reset

  • Daily and weekly resets time change: 9am PST / 12pm EST / 5pm GMT (UK) / 6pm CET(Europe)

  • 4K HDR support on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X

Then, more changes will come NEXT WEEK on December 12th

December 12th

  • Master Chief Masterwork weapons

  • Most vendors sell armor and weapons for tokens + legendary shards

  • Xur sells Fated Engrams & Three of Coins

  • Zavala and Shaxx sell Gift consumables for Legendary Shards (bonus rewards on strike or match completion)

  • Relaxed anti-farming cooldown on chests and resource nodes

  • Vendors don't blink on the map if you don't have enough tokens for an engram

Information above was collated by u/FinalStarfall and his post Here.

For a read up on the current state of Destiny 2 and some communication from Bungie on the direction going forward, please see State of Destiny 2 post.

Spring Cleaning - The end of Season one

Today also marks the beginning of Season two in the game. This means some Eververse gear will be rotated out (Such as Armour, Exotic Emotes, Ships and Sparrows) and will make way for a new inventory of Eververse.

Stay tuned to r/DTG where these will be detailed and updated in the Weekly Reset Thread once the information is confirmed

"Get in ma bell-eh"

We won't be venturing into the Belly of the Beast just yet.

As of this now, we have no information on when the new Raid Lair, Eater of Worlds, will launch in Curse of Osiris. The Lair is aboard the Leviathan ship firmly poised above Nessus

There have been some shots of it in on the video trailers (Below) if you wanted a glimpse of what's to come

The Last Word

Whether we wanted it or not, new DLC is here and as much as there may be changes we would all like to see, new content is always something I find exciting

New gear, new activities and new weapons to chase after is part of what makes Destiny great, hopefully this will be the first step into greatness and Osiris is going to help take us there

Happy launch day, Guardians. See you on Mercury

That Grenade Launcher that shoots exploding spiders is EXACTLY what Exotics needed. Thank you, Bungie!

Posted: 04 Dec 2017 11:36 PM PST

It feels like a long time since I've actually been excited to get an exotic in Destiny 2. I can't wait to try it!

EDIT: Given the traction made on this sub, I thought I'd address the negativity. I'm aware we're all cautious of what's to come or worried its power will be underwhelming, but I believe this is the right direction for Exotics as a whole. We need more weird and out there gear that doesn't follow the conventional "shoots more lasers" shtick. Like, an Iron Banner exotic that shoots out wolves made of pure lightening, or a web shooter that traps our opponent where they stand. This is what Exotics should be, and I look forward to seeing what's to come.
