| Bungie, Save your IP. Run the Realm Reborn treatment on your game before it's too late. Posted: 11 Dec 2017 02:15 AM PST The Gameplay is shallow and broken. The storyline a steaming pile. If you do not act promptly and with absolute, utter, privacy-invading transparency, you will lose any pull the Destiny IP ever had and the Bungie name will forever be a verb that denotes the tremendous prolapsing asspull of these past months that will be your legacy. So what is the "Realm Reborn Treatment"? See this three-part documentary about the life, death, and rebirth of an online MMO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xs0yQKI7Yw4 But for those who don't have two hours to burn, let me explain. For those who are not familiar, Final Fantasy XIV when it was initially released (1.0) was an absolutely horrible game. Recognizing this somewhere down the line, Square-Enix brought in a new director and producer by the name of Naoki Yoshida. He came in and basically said, listen. We're going to remake this from the ground up. Meanwhile, we release DLC at no charge to the player while we continue to build up 2.0. Eventually, they released 2.0, and now FFXIV is now one of the best MMOs in the world, having released two expansions loaded with content up to your eyeballs, with a VAST cast of memorable and engaging characters and an engaging storyline. For Destiny 1, the "Treatment" could arguably be called The Taken King. But in a game like Destiny 2, where the foundation was so painstakingly laid in its predecessor then thrown away for no perceptible reason, this is simply not acceptable. This is not just about the survival of Destiny 2, but the survival of the Destiny IP and the Bungie name. Your failures are on display for the whole gaming community to see. Bungie, you have to make a decision. Be a shell of your former glory and become the eternal laughingstock of game studios, or approach this aggressively and openly. I don't give a good god damn whether it's Activision or Bungie itself at the wheels. As far as I'm concerned, a shit game was delivered for the second time and they both need to answer for it. Do or die, Bungie. Fix it or burn out of existence. Edit: There are those who are saying that FFXIV 1.0 is incomparable to D2 in its current form. I am copying and pasting a reply to one such post from earlier:
Edit2: Obligatory thanks for the gold, but I don't think I deserve it. I didn't even think this post would even gain traction, much less earn me gold. There are those out there who have described my post as dramatic- I would have to humbly agree. Theatrical and inflammatory, but I do believe the idea of the post still stands. Another post further down from /u/ThatBlessedOne (link here) mentioned the humanity of the people behind the game, and while it's important to at times forcefully nudge people down the right path, we shouldn't ever forsake the people behind the game, whose talents I'm sure are being suppressed by some other force higher up in the ladder. I hope you get to make the game you want to, soon. Edit3: There are far too many upvotes for a shittily written post like this. IDK what you nerds are doing. [link] [comments] |
| I read this subreddit more than I play Destiny 2 now :( Posted: 11 Dec 2017 03:30 AM PST It used to be the other way around. I happily played Destiny 1 for three years and thousands of hours. During that time I bought every DLC and made a lot of friends. This subreedit was awesome and made my Destiny 1 experience so much better. I wanted to do the same on Destiny 2 and now I don't even play it some weeks. When I do play Destiny 2 hardly any of my friends or clan members are online. I get bored and frustrated with the game so I don't play it for long. For the first time I didn't buy the new DLC and I probably won't. This subreddit is still great and I still come here daily. It's salty as hell but that's because a lot of players are passionate about the game and want it to be better, myself included. I hope Bungie fixes Destiny 2 because I want to WANT to play it again. Until then, I won't. Not much at least. I feel bad for not playing with my friends and even convincing some of them to buy it. I feel bad so many of them feel the same way I do. [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 11 Dec 2017 10:01 AM PST Currently there is very little loot that is associated with an event or source. Outside of Faction and Iron Banner gear, the I couldn't tell you where most loot comes from. This is an issue, it makes the gear shallow and mundane. Raid loot comes from the raid, sure, but from which boss/encounter? none, it comes from tokens. Loot is more fun when you have specific loot tables tied to each boss. This can of course be supplemented with a token system, but the loot pool system of raids from D1 was much better. Each boss had specific loot pools. Golgoroth for instance could drop boots, chest, gloves, shotgun, or fusion rifle whereas Oryx dropped the helmet and primary weapons. When loot is tied to a source it gives you fond memories of the time you downed Oryx and he dropped the Doom of Chelchis. This can (and should) be expanded back into strikes as well. Back in TTK we had strike specific guns and armor. It gives people incentive to replay certain activities for loot all without having to actually expand the loot table. Please consider reimplementing this system in the future. [link] [comments] |
| The real endgame is trying to find a new way to word a "complaint" so it makes it to the front page. Posted: 11 Dec 2017 07:11 AM PST "Wow Bungo, it's really difficult to enjoy the "Infinite" Forest when can't even access it whenever you want! And also it should lead to the old raids coming back, because that will definitely NOT be met with complaints about running out of ideas"
Edit: ROUND 2 I DO, want to hear how Zavala and Shaxx hunted an Ahamkara, STOP TALKING FOR ME GHOST!
ROUND 3. (Based on the front page) It's bullshit that Bungie said two weeks ago that they were going to they were going to communicate more, but I ONLY hear from them in the WEEKLY update. I want them to call my cell phone every time they decide to put something in!

| Why don't you tie Season 1 Eververse rewards to gameplay now that they aren't available? Posted: 11 Dec 2017 02:25 AM PST Hey Bungie, why don't you introduce a weekly milestone that has us getting rewarded with Eververse season 1 ships, sparrows, armour now that they aren't available in the season 2 loot pool? It would make much more sense... even reward us with a shader or two. It would also be a good way of building some bridges between you and the fanbase. For me logically this makes the most sense and is an incentive for people to grind for that side of the content and if they missed out on anything from last season. [link] [comments] |
| Bungie’s communication seriously is lacking compared to the competition. Posted: 11 Dec 2017 07:22 AM PST Almost everyone can agree that Bungie's communication is effectively non existent. DE and Blizzard communicate almost constantly about fixes and future ideas, and their communities thrive. This is what Destiny needs. Bungie, stop being so tight lipped and talk with us the fans on outlets and don't be afraid to talk about future concepts or fixes or anything. The TWAB is too sugar coated and we're not willing to deal with it anymore. Other devs have shown that constant communication helps the community thrive. Being tight lipped about changes until they're ready can only worsen the salt. Skill Up said it best himself:

| Posted: 11 Dec 2017 07:15 AM PST So 2 days ago, I made a post about getting into Saint-14's Tomb, and a few people asked me for close-up screenshots of his body/tomb for..reasons. OP always delivers. You're welcome to use these for whatever you want. They're screenshots from Xbox, so sorry they're not super-high-res. :/ [link] [comments] |
| Mercury is so small they could only give us Kill and Collect patrols Posted: 11 Dec 2017 03:53 AM PST The environment is too small for the other patrol types. Either that or they didn't have time to record the 3 lines of dialogue. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 11 Dec 2017 08:50 AM PST For those who can't watch, the video talks about data, and how that data can be misleading from the eyes of the developer (D1 complaints of how the game was too grindy = less grindy D2). It covers micro-transactions, and how introducing more and more can wear players out over a period of time (cosmetic emotes to ships, sparrows, and ghosts.) Lastly and more importantly, company trust and respect. Bungie, we waited 3 years for Destiny 1 to realize it's potential, the potential that all of us fans knew was in there somewhere. Just when we finally thought it was at its peak, D1 Y3, you had us all by our wallets. If D2 could surpass what we had then, it would be the best game ever... and yet, here we are. I'm sad that we can't enjoy the game we used to. [link] [comments] |
| Blog Post Today about Locking out Old Content Posted: 11 Dec 2017 12:13 PM PST If you dont own the DLC, DEEJ just said they will address it today: https://twitter.com/DeeJ_BNG/status/940313165958496256 "I just came from a meeting with the dev team where we talked about access to base game content when the overall experience expands. | Gotta hand it to Bungie, grinding for Forge weapon mats, feels kinda like D1 Posted: 11 Dec 2017 05:06 AM PST Not necessarily in the best way, but it gives me something to do when I log on since there is no way to improve my gear from any actual activities (after the powerful rewards are completed for the week). | As an Xbox Player, Today was Finally the Day. Posted: 11 Dec 2017 11:14 AM PST Finally, the day has come where I got full Grimoire as an Xbox Player. https://imgur.com/a/MtWuC -Lord High http://xboxclips.com/XII+Alpha+IIIXx/screenshots/859c19ca-cced-4404-a639-e0f710ce9255 -Grasp (It took 3718 hours to finally do this) Edit: Lord High- Sureshot-Outlaw, Rifled Barrel, Reactive Reload. | Big News!! DIM has added "move from postmaster" functionality! Posted: 10 Dec 2017 10:27 PM PST obligatory front page edit: hey guys, if you're like me and love the way DIM has made/makes your life in D1/D2 better, may i suggest leaving the devs a donation via their PayPal portal on their website. rather than buying a package of silver and seeing that money go to Bungie, let's give some (literal) credit where credit is due to these awesome guys at DIM! | Posted: 11 Dec 2017 09:57 AM PST Title. Giving players the ability to visit 3 versions of Mercury, all unique and on different timelines, would help tremendously with adding variety. While on the subject of Mercury, why don't we add in a hoarde mode/court of Oryx type mode to the Infinite Forest? Put in a relic/sacrifice to open the portal, lead to harder and harder (and actually INTERESTING) levels that randos can jump in on, having unique loot/high(ish) level loot drop Just a suggestion and a random thought [link] [comments] |

| WHERE ARE THE FLIPPY SPARROWS?! I MISS THEM Posted: 11 Dec 2017 09:54 AM PST |
| Having to re-grind for exotics that I still have in my Destiny 1 vault is getting kind of old... Posted: 10 Dec 2017 08:53 PM PST I honestly enjoy Destiny 2, but the fact that the Red Legion conveniently wiped out our vaults to start Destiny 2 fresh contradicts the fact that Bungie is re-introducing these exotics back into the game (and at a price!). I already HAVE these items in my Destiny 1 vault. Why can't I just have them already unlocked in Destiny 2 with their updated perks? [link] [comments] |
| The Original Raid Armor Set should have gotten ornaments. Posted: 11 Dec 2017 02:53 AM PST Trials armor got some, crucible armor got some, strike armor got some, IB armor got some, Even the raid lair's new armor got ornaments for some reason? It's like Bungie forgot about a set of armor when planning out the ornaments. Without ornaments, redoing the regular raid (one of the longest activities) feels way less rewarding compared to all the activities that now have much better replay value (good job Bungie on that). | Please let us dismantle shaders faster. Posted: 11 Dec 2017 04:19 AM PST Especially now with the additional season 2 shaders, I have completely run out of space. I have stacks of hundreds of rare (green) shaders I will never use. I also, don't feel like spending an hour dismantling them all. Please create some way of dismantling shaders faster - either by turning them in in bulk to some vendor (like eververse), similar to turning in tokens, or by a quick-dismantle system [link] [comments] |
| Alternate strategy for Argos: it allows more damage per cycle if done correctly Posted: 11 Dec 2017 04:15 AM PST Let me preface this by saying I do not claim this should be THE default strategy for everyone. The fun thing about this Lair is that different strategies are possible when you don't have to stand on plates all the time. But I felt this was worth pointing out because every major guide omits mechanics present in the encounter and seemingly doesn't know they exist. I'm just here to inform to give you a choice. The basic strategy everyone uses is: dump appropriate and extra skulls > break shield > dps > wipe counter > reset. This leads to 4 damage phases and even the best groups I have seen need all 4, leading to Argos almost enraging. The encounter is designed on allowing you to: dump appropriate skulls > break shield > dps > break shield > dps > wipe counter > reset. This leads to 8 damage phases and most groups will clear it in three cycles never needing the fourth. Good groups can even do it in only two. This means to me that this is more efficient for dpa purposes. Here is how we did it, though you can change some things if you want: We have 6 runners. 2 people are standing by where the skulls spawn. We start the encounter when the first three pick up there skulls. We wait for a callout done by one of these three. For example: Void, Void, Solar at Void plate. This means for us that the first three runners will dump their skulls in these elements. We don't need to talk about who dumps what where, because the person at Void dumps it in Void, the person at Solar dumps it in Solar, so the person at Arc knows to dump it in Void. If you need to communicate this, you don't have the logistics down yet. There is only one correct plate you can go for. The first set of three runners wait until their skull is cooked, then pick it up and take it to the appropriate plate to break the shield. The thing most people do not seem to know is that the elements are in a set rotation. Any current orb that is Void will be Solar on the second shield. Solar will be Arc and Arc will be Void. Void > Solar > Arc > Like that. So in this case of the first callout being Void, Void, Solar, that means the second set will be Solar, Solar, Arc. For us, this means the second set of three runners pick up the second set of skulls immediately after they spawn, which should be around 5 seconds after the first team picked up theirs. They will take theirs to Solar, Solar, Arc and after dumping them, immediately go to the correct plate for the first shield break to clear adds. Because the first team has to wait for their skulls to be cooked, the second team gets to the plate first anyway, so they clear the adds with Supers. Once the first team gets in position to break the shield, the second team clears the Harpies as soon as they break the shield since they do not respawn after his shield is broken. We dodge the first net, then group up in center for dps using rally barricade and empowering rift. We stop dps for about 3 seconds to kill the kamikaze Harpies, then continue dps. His shield shuts and the second team immediately go to the cooked skulls they dumped, pick them up and rally to the next plate to break his shield from. The first team moves to the second plate and picks up any skulls they come across and dumps them into the plate to break his shield from. The first team clears adds with their Supers this time, again killing the Harpies just before his shield is broken. A second dps phase occurs, same strategy as before, except there are one or two extra skulls for dps there now. After this, Argos should trigger his wipe mechanic and you break that as usual. We usually do one side instead of bodyparts. So we do right arm and right head, then left arm left head and finally his back. Most people seem to do both arms then both sides of his head which is fine too. Just a preference thing. Then you reset and do it again. Remember to pick up Heavy from Minotaurs frequently. Our group struggled with killing Argos using the one damage phase. In our best run he still had around 5% health left when he enraged, which was demoralizing because we had no idea how to possibly deal more damage without getting lucky Power drops (by the way, a little offtopic but I hate how bosses assume you have plenty Power Ammo all the time when those orange bars just don't drop anything almost half the time). You can call us scrubs, we probably are. But with these two damage phases we got him down over a third of his health in a single cycle (two damage phases) so for us this works really well. Note that you will likely get worse results at first because you have to practice the timing of this for about an hour. In the end I would say two damage phase is tighter on timing, but definitely allows more dps. You have three extra skulls for the one phase for dps, you have 1 or two extra skulls for two phase, but also just double the time for rockets and Coldheart/Sweet Business. So you lose one or two skulls, but you gain so much of the other stuff that it just deals more damage overall. So out of these two strategies, pick the one that covers your weakness. We coordinate pretty well and we're fast, but we lack some dps so for us this method is perfect. Consider trying it. Edit: To clarify, the second set of orbs of a cycle is predictable going Void > Solar > Arc. After the wipe mechanic, it resets to being random. So the first set of a cycle is always random, but the second set is always predictable based on the first. TL;DR For detail read the entire post. Two damage phase allows more dps flat. 6 runners, split in two teams of three. One at each element for both teams. Team 1 calls out Solar, Arc, Arc and dumps their skulls there, team two knows second callout will be Arc, Void, Void and dumps theirs. Team 2 clears adds, team 1 breaks shield. Dps. Team two grabs their skulls and breaks second shield, dps again. Repeat. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 11 Dec 2017 08:07 AM PST With all the crap that is wrong with the game right now, Bungie needs to know that the raid lair encounters were fantastic! Keep creating fights like that in the future. Fights that are dynamic, keep you moving, and interesting mechanics are fun! The boss was also the most fun boss because it wasn't just a big guy that shoots at you and has a wipe mechanic. My favorite part of the boss are his nets. Getting trapped in a net that floats you away is amazing! Also, the exploding sentinels that he throws at you are fantastic as well. Gave me a real matrix vibe in that setting. So while you go about your business in fixing the shitshow that is the rest of your game, please know that these are the kinds of fights that are fun! [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 11 Dec 2017 04:52 AM PST This is how it works: you get matched against a team and they all leave together just before the match starts. When the match starts, the game sees only 4 players in the lobby so it counts two players from your team as part of the enemy team. When the match ends, those two players get a loss on their cards. This has happened to me a couple of times. Happened to people I know and happened to people on streams I've watched. Bungie this is one of your most popular end game activities. A bug like this should not exist this long without anyone on your team noticing and fixing it. [link] [comments] |
| Mercury is small, but not being able to use your sparrow is annoying Posted: 11 Dec 2017 09:20 AM PST It's a repeat of what Bungie did with the D2 campaign. You didn't get a sparrow until you beat the campaign so not being able to use a sparrow gave us the illusion that the campaign was long. Itsy the same thing with Mercury. They want to give us the illusion that Mercury is big because we can't use our sparrows [link] [comments] |
| If I was a billionaire, I would totally pay to port D1 Year 3 to PC Posted: 10 Dec 2017 10:35 PM PST I think the only way they're going to fix this mess is to integrate all D1 content into D2, and give a free expansion. It won't happen, but with the state of the subreddit at this time, I honestly think it's going to be the only thing that gets rid of all the salt. [link] [comments] |
