Remember when... (NOSTALGIA THREAD)

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 03:56 AM PST

Been playing from release.

Remember when: 4 survivors, 3 killers.

Trapper was meta because infinities. If you think today's infinities are bad/op, just be thankful you weren't here when there was that infamous, annoying, three window goddamn juke spot that I forgot its name. I dunno, it was autohaven wrecker, avarov.. something. Fuck that shit.

Self care was 70% (or 80%? don't remember.) Pair that shit with botany knowledge and, well... you can heal pretty fast. Like 8 seconds. Less. With no medkit.

We'll make it worked on yourself. EDIT: Also was a bug where if you unhook two people you got 200% bonus so..

Sprint burst had a 20 sec cooldown, and running didn't affect it.

Sabotaging (and with that, saboteur) a hook gave a whopping 1k points and an advantage that will last the entire match. It was pretty common to see your entire hook arsenal destroyed.

Dwight still sucks so there's nothing to remember about him.

Male survivors ran as if there was shit stuck in their pants.

Wraith was considered massively overpowered...

Flashlights were garbage, that lasted only a whopping 5 seconds. (They looked like laser beams, though...)

Lockers were absolute ass. You could be heard (YOUR BREATHING AND INJURED GRUNTS!!!) from like 20 meters away.

There was no 'window block' feature.

Survivors could vacuum to a window, giving them the speed advantage at all times from a distance (as long as there's a window!)

NOED worked forever. Later nerfed into a 2 minute timer. Later reworked into a hex totem.

The grind was so, so much worse... It was insane. Like maybe 50k bloodpoints for a single level at some point... God, that, was so goddamn bad...

The unhooked could move as soon as he was unhooked, making the act of patrolling/camping pretty hard to do since you can't just instadown the guy. (combined with sprint burst). I actually wonder, why the fuck was this changed????

Billy flick. Seriously, when are we getting an addon compensation for this?

What the hell else did I miss?

EDIT: Courtsey of /u/CloneFan88 and /u/rQdny, here's some more.

Trapper could place a trap under hooked player.

As a bonus sometimes the context action can't keep up. If you had self-care, and sabouter, and you're facing a hooked guy, sometimes it'd cycle between the three! Insane.

This isn't so much from release but it was still irritating. Four players using decisive strike. :) And it wasn't an obsession perk back then ah nah nah nah... If you think 4 players having DS now is bad, go back a few months. Shit was meta back then.

Sabotaging traps before they're even disarmed.

Back then there wasn't exhaustion, and the only movement based perks was Balanced Landing and Sprint burst and Adrenaline. And they all stacked.

Infamous school bus that had two windows which was a strong juke point.

Back then there wasn't a medium fault. It was either slow or fast.

Whilst small game is weak now, back then it was strong against the trapper. Traps showed up as AURAS!!

Open Handed [Buff Suggestion]

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 04:47 AM PST

Hello :) So i'm a killer main but when i play survivor i love to experiment perk build : usually Adrenaline Unbreakable Bond Ironwill but I like the Bond OpenHanded Kindred Combo aswell.

I then came to realize it's still pretty weak and that it's not Kindred which needs buff but Open Handed.

Here my suggestion :

Change the aura reading from 4/6/8m to 8/12/16m + make it affects : Leader , Prove Thyself , Small Game , Streetwise , Technician and Vigil. Those are perks that are ok but could use a little help to get their place in more people builds.

Alternative idea from Meekest

Strengthens the potential of you and your team's abilities. Increases Aura reading ranges by 8/12/16 meters. The range of influence from other Perks is increased by 10/25/50%

Thanks for your attention :)

Infinite sprint burst..?

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 08:25 AM PST

I got into a game and start doing a gen right away. Suddenly Michael Myers "tune" starts and I realize he is right next to me stalking, I start running and as I leave the gen I miss a skillcheck and gen pops. My sprintburst kicks in and I have no idea why, it does not end. For the whole game my character went flying through map, twitching like crazy. I could play the game normally but it looked like I had some sort of speedhack or whatever and of course the end game chat was full of "you're gonna get banned" "f*cking cheater" etc.

Camp fire idea...

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 07:33 AM PST

So we're aware of the idea that if you're a survivor, it means you're stuck in this strange dimension that the entity created. However, you always end up back at the camp fire.

Now I was thinking "fuck, that would be ridiculous to keep that thing going at all times. Who takes care of it when everyone else is gone?"

Then I thought, what if this is how the entity stays alive. It's sort of a ritual, and the fire keeps on burning, either with survivors throwing some offering in it, or the killers.

And as a weird cosmic joke in the games perspective, if everyone were to stop playing this game, the fire would die, and in turn killing the entity....

Hmmm...

Can anyone recommend high skilled killer youtubers/streamers to learn from?

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 06:41 AM PST

So far I've seen TydeTyme, HybridPanda, and TrueTalent (the latter is very skilled but complains non-stop lol). I'm looking for someone who plays killer at a very high level and uses strategies and things that I can learn from. Any help is appreciated! If you want to plug your channel go ahead, but I'm really only looking for high ranked streamers because I'm trying to learn. Thanks!

"Rituals has been tweaked so it's not as distracting from the game"

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 04:15 AM PST

So why the fuck are the only rituals I'm getting "chase a survivor for 9 minutes with the Nurse" and "break 9 hooks" and "sacrifice 2 survivors with Hillbilly" (my main) and "complete a total of 2 generators"...

Are you saying that I should focus less on doing my objectives (killing as killer, fixing gens as surv) and more on shit that will make me depip and ultimately fuck my team over?

I know the patch is an old one, but the excuse they had to lower the points and objectives was fucking pathetic.

How to hit survivors who 360?

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 09:06 AM PST

When I'm playing killer some of the more experienced survivors will run in small circles in front of me. Maybe is the killer's small field of vision or maybe I'm bad at aiming, but for some reason these little buggers always seem just out of reach as they literally run circles around me. Any tips on how to hit them without using leatherface?

Freddy Krueger DLC has "Mostly negative" overall rating on recent reviews!

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 12:20 PM PST

And if you take time to read some of negative reviews, you will see that most of them are because Freddy was weak killer at release and devs beat him to the ground with nerfhammer only 1 week later.

Since then, devs did not implement any buffs to him (except speed penalty addons during transition) and i really wonder why, since most of community agrees that he is worst killer after wraith (which is getting rework and buff this week).

Positive Interactions: Luck or Differences between Platform Cultures

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 09:01 AM PST

I have been playing DBD for maybe about a month. I play on Xbox. Since getting between rank 15 and now rank 12 (highest I've been so far!) I have had an overwhelmingly positive experience with interactions. I've been switching between survivor and killer. I have been getting gg messages, thank you messages for saves (I finally got borrowed time so I've been trying end game yolo saves and having a blast). On killer I have had survivors say gg, and after a huntress game I did where I was practicing my throwing. I face camped the hooked survivor after the doors were open in the hope they would go for the yolo so I could get target practice. I had a blast because it turned into this yolo save/hatchet throwing interaction for like 10 minutes. Where they would save, I'd throw hatchets, down someone hook, rinse repeat. I've had only 2 negative messages so far. I was curious. Am I just lucky? Is Xbox culture less toxic than pc?
