Bungie, since it's the 'Season of Giving' I used MSpaint to make you all a new logo that I feel represents how our community feels about Eververse.

When a Salty Titan Tries to use MS Paint

Disclaimer: Deej/dmg04/Cozmo/Art, Music, Modeling Team, Engineers, etc...we love you guys. We just don't love the direction Eververse is taking the Destiny Experience, and those decisions are likely made far beyond those at Bungie who actually pour their hearts into this game. Perhaps this artistic feedback will hit home with those people about the new image their company is making through these choices.

PS: Punching a keyboard and making art is hard. Anyone with real photoshop skills is welcome to do a better job.

Edit 1: My first ever Gold. Thank you!

Eververse doesn’t even make sense lore-wise

Posted: 22 Dec 2017 08:56 AM PST

When we're at the farm, we're in the middle of a literal war for our home. Everyone is pitching in and contributing to the cause..... except Tess.

All the other gear you get is purchased through shards or glimmer; materials necessary for the creation of said items. Legendary shard become new legendary gear. Glimmer is a programmable material.

But Tess? Oh no. She just "likes" silver. 'Cause of her uncle. Or something.

Tess has some gigantic storage closet full of gear and sparrows and ships and ghosts. You name it. More items than any other individual. She apparently doesn't even keep it in the last city. And she just keeps it all locked up until you give her something she wants.

Does she need the silver to make the items? Not as far as we can tell. She is just greedy.

Tl;dr: Tess is a war profiteer and criminal charges should be brought against her.

The coolest screenshot I've taken in Destiny 2

I know I know it's not a salty post but I just wanted to share this badass moment I captured from the other day.

This is one of my favorite screenshots I've taken in any video game to date! :D

Not sure how high of a quality it is on imgur so here's a link to Deviant Art to download the full sized photo: https://proeclipze.deviantart.com/art/World-Eater-Screenshot-Ninja-Pups-721372134?ga_submit_new=10%3A1513962688

Just remembered that the Wardcliff Coil was designed for Destiny 1, which explains why it is actually good.

Posted: 22 Dec 2017 10:35 AM PST

Back in D1 there was an unreleased exotic called Dubious Volley that ended up being the Wardcliff Coil in D2. This totally explains why it actually feels powerful compared to other D2 weapons.

They actually weakened it too. It was supposed to have a perk that added 1 rocket to the volley for every enemy it killed.

The problem with crucible is lack of skill gap, high impact weapons in particular are weak.

Posted: 22 Dec 2017 04:52 AM PST

Simply put, high impact weapons in destiny 2 are all high risk, no reward.

Examples:

High impact frame pulse rifles (320 rpm)

High impact frame scout rifles (150 rpm)

Crimson

Precision frame sidearms (260 rpm)

Precision frame hand cannons (180 rpm) also have the same issue, despite not being "high impact"

These all have one thing in common:

They have slow optimal ttks and are not rewarded for being accurate

For example:

Hitting 4 crits with 150 rpm scout rifles only gets you the same optimal time to kill as a 200 rpm (mida) scout rifle while requiring significantly more accuracy and skill to achieve the same thing.

I've gone in depth about this over various posts and I will list them here.

Crimson:

https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/7lh46j/the_crimson_is_bad_because_it_has_a_low_crit/

Pulse rifles:

https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/7kagcq/all_pulse_rifles_except_vigilance_wing_and_the/

High impact scout rifles:

https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/7atpqq/high_impact_scout_rifles_150_rpm_are_objectively/

Precision frame hand cannons:

https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/7hz54l/why_is_it_that_180_rpm_hand_cannons_do_less/

I have researched in depth and have come to these conclusions not because of my opinion, bit because of the facts and the numbers.

Edit:

Sniper rifles also fall in this category. They simply do not stack up against all the other power weapons. Both in pvp and pve, really. In pve they don't do enough damage to warrant their use, in pvp they have very awkward long scope zooms and ridiculous amounts of flinch received.

Every destination needs a unique grind and payoff like the Prophecy weapons and the Sagira ghost.

Posted: 22 Dec 2017 09:18 AM PST

I'd love to have a unique looking exotic ghost for every location that has the doubled scan range for resources/chests. And even though I think the grind was excessive, the Prophecy weapons did keep me busy for a while and I think they look cool. Let's get more of that, please.

I farmed 200 chests, here's my results

Posted: 22 Dec 2017 04:30 AM PST

I decided I wanted to test the drop rate for exotics in chests, as I've seen people get some, and I wanted to know if it was an efficient way of farming exotics (a quick summary will be at the bottom).

I used a scout report on Titan (as its the easiest to farm) and set off.

For the first 100 I went round opening chests and recording all my drops. Here are my results:

Token drop rate - 100% Shader drop rate - 22% Blue drop rate - 4% Legendary drop rate - 2% Exotic drop rate - 0%

Noticing I wasn't getting any after the first 100, I popped a three of coins and set out on farming anther hundred. Here are my results:

Token drop rate - 100% Shader drop rate - 13% Blue drop rate - 3% Legendary drop rate - 3% Exotic drop rate - 0%

Now as you can see the results are basically the same with no exotics. Now this can either mean one of two things:

1.) The exotic drop rate is extremely low (below 1%) and three of coins does nothing (or only increase the drop rate by a fraction) or

2.) Chests don't drop exotics.

tl;dr - Don't bother.

Edit: Thanks for all the feedback everyone. Apparently exotics can still drop from chests but is way below a 1% chance. As many of you have pointed out chest farming is still really good for farming masterworks... just not exotics.

The Dawning Eververse Breakdown, Pt 2 (Updated, higher costs)

Posted: 22 Dec 2017 09:57 AM PST

Greetings again, Guardians. With the Eververse updating its inventory, I was able to update the estimates of the total amount of Bright Dust needed to purchase all items, if you as a player elected to do so.

If you like charts, the updated link is here

For everyone else, here's a brief overview of the things I found. Note, not every item is being sold exclusively in The Dawning Section of Eververse. I attempted to get as close to a value as possible by comparing Dawning items not being sold to a non-Dawning counterpart (Example, there is no Legendary Dawning Emote being sold this week, so I based the item cost off of the "Shuffle Dance" being sold instead)

  • 15 Legendary Armor pieces, 5 per class. 1200 for chests, 800 for all others. Approximate total = 13,200 Bright Dust

  • 12 Sparrows, 2 Exotic and 10 Legendary. Exotic Sparrows are 2500 dust per sparrow. Legendary counterpart sparrows are 600 dust per sparrow. All sparrows from the Dawning engrams are exclusive to this event. Approximate total = 11,900 Bright Dust

  • It should be noted the "Star of Dark Nights" Legendary Sparrow is EXCLUSIVE only to the Star of Dark Nights Bundle being sold for 1500 SILVER. This does include (3) Dawning Engrams, (1) Star of Dark Nights sparrow, and 500 Bright Dust. Also includes (1) stack of (10) Dawning exclusive shaders. This Sparrow can only be bought, and does not have a chance to drop from Dawning engrams.

  • 10 Ships, 2 Exotic and 8 Legendary. 2000 Bright Dust for exotic ships. Legendary Dawning Ships are 500 Bright Dust per ship. All ships included in the Dawning Engrams are Dawning Exclusive. Approximate total = 8,000 Bright Dust

  • 4 Emotes, 1 Exotic, 2 Legendary, and 2 Rare. Unknown exact cost for Exotic Dawning Emote. Legendary counterparts are 700 Bright Dust each. Rare Dawning Emote is 400 Bright Dust. All Emotes are Dawning exclusive. Approximate total = 1,800+ Bright Dust

  • 10 Ghost Shells, 2 Exotic and 8 Legendary. Unknown Exotic Ghost Shell costs. Legendary Dawning Ghost Shells are 400 Bright Dust each. All Ghost Shells are Dawning exclusive. Approximate total = 3,600+ Bright dust

  • 10 Legendary Shaders. Only 4 are exclusive to the Dawning event. 3 are from the Curse of Osiris expansion, and 3 are from the vanilla Destiny game. There is no Dawning exclusive shader being sold this week. Legendary counterpart shaders are 40 Bright Dust each. This cost is hard to gauge as it is dependent on Tess selling them in the future, and how many each individual player would want to purchase. We can, however, go off of a player buying 1 full set (11 slots x 4 shaders @ 40 dust a piece x 3 characters) This gives us an Approximate total = 5,280 Bright Dust

  • 20 Transmat Effects. 2 are legendary, 18 are rare. Only 6 are exclusive to the Dawning. Approximate total = 9,400 Bright dust

  • Grand totals. 81 Eververse items can drop from Dawning Engrams. 61 of those items are exclusive to the Dawning, 20 of them are a combination from Curse of Osiris and the vanilla game. Approximate Dawning Eververse total if you were to buy (1) of each item = 53,180 Bright Dust

In the last post, it was also asked what the overall monetary cost would be do obtain this much Bright Dust. Bright Dust can be obtained from engrams at 3 values. Small (250), Medium (500) and Huge (1,000). I'll post some updated amounts here.

If we would open an Eververse Engram and get the largest amount possible, you would have to purchase approximately 53 Engrams. 53 Engrams will cost 10,600 Silver. The $50.00 Silver Bundle will grant you 5,800 pieces of silver, meaning you would spend, at the lowest amount, approximately $100.00

If we would open an Eververse Engram and get the smallest amount possible, you would have to purchase approximately 212 Engrams. 212 Engrams will cost 42,400 Silver. The $50.00 Silver Bundle will grant you 5,800 pieces of silver. 7, $50 boxes. would give you 40,600 silver, which leaves us 1,800 shy. 1, $20 box would give us the remaining silver with 500 extra. Meaning you would spend, at the lowest amount, approximately $370.00

If we would open an Eververse Engram and not get any Gifts of Dust at all, and solely relied on dismantling everything into Bright Dust, it's hard to gauge the cost due to the RNG of the items. Exotic item dismantles would give you more Bright Dust than rare items, and if you're going this route, you would surely be better off trying to just get all the items as drops anyway. But I estimate the average total dismantle grouping to be around 150-200 Bright Dust, meaning anywhere between $100.00 to $200.00.

I think another thing that needs to be brought up is the difference between the Dawning and Illuminated Engrams and how they both drop a different amount of items. Whereas Illuminated Engrams drop 4 items, Dawning Engrams will only give you 2 items, essentially doubling the amount of Engrams you would have to open, as you only half the RNG rolls active for the game to pick from.

In closing, it's obvious to see that, although Bungie did keep true to their word of putting the items up for sale in the Eververse, it's blatantly obvious that the average player will not have enough Bright Dust to purchase all items, and instead be forced to the mercy of Dawning Engrams that drop half the loot of Illuminated ones. To get even just 1 set of armor for your favorite character, will cost you 4,400 Bright Dust. It's my belief and findings talking with friends, content creators, and streamers, that even the hardcore, dedicated players do not have enough Bright Dust for even that.

While there are ways to earn rewards in-game, through quests, it's important to remember that your quest rewards, although including a few Dawning Engram items, will not reward you with the full scale of loot brought into the event. And although you can earn Dawning Engrams through milestones, only 3 each week will give you the full 100%, of the halved item drops, of the Dawning Engrams. That gives you a total of only 9 engrams, over 3 weeks, that will give you a full shot at some gear. Gear and loot, being what this game was advertised and sold on. These Engrams will also give you gear that was coded to dismantle into different items than its counterparts. An event shader from a bought engram will dismantle into 7 Bright Dust, whereas the same event shader from an reward engram will give you legendary shards. These items will also not stack in your inventory, showing that from the very beginning, Bungie formatted these items as a way to cripple any form of accidentally farming a resource they instead want you to buy.

This post is not malicious towards Bungie in nature at all. I love this game, or what it used to be. I hope by drawing attention to the ways it decides to conduct it's business (which I believe Activision is behind, not so much Bungie themselves) by forcing the players into a situation where buying loot, for a chance of a chance at an item, is not right. I know U/Hey_Fitzy was instrumental in fixing Iron Banner drop rates by giving data to the people and facilitating a discussion between players and the developers. I only hope this can do the same.

That being said, I hope everyone continues to enjoy the Dawning Event, and I hope to see some you in Mayhem while it's here.

TL;DR: Updated Bright dust costs from 32,900, to 53,180 to purchase 1 of every item. Updated out of pocket costs range from the lowest ($100.00) to the highest ($370.00). Majority of players will not have, and will not be able to earn, enough Bright Dust to purchase all, or even some, items (if they choose to do so) without spending money.

New Players Still Picking Up Destiny 1

Posted: 22 Dec 2017 06:33 AM PST

Yesterday I started up (Xbox)Destiny 1 just to mess around. I was siting in the tower and decided to look at the other players in there with me and i saw something very interesting. New Players. A bunch of Level 1-10 were running around with less than 1000 grimoire. So I decided to message one of them to ask why he got this game when D2 is out. He said he never played D1 but has D2 and wanted to see why his fire team always reminisces about D1. So I started messaging other new players and the answers i got were from more loot to more content.

There's still so much to do in Destiny 1. Even as a player who has been playing since the beta with 3500 hours I can still go to the vendors or get a drop that is better that my current gun or armor. i would say to anyone who is upset of how Bungie managing Destiny 2 or bored to go back and play D1 whether your a new or old player.

Tell Us the Odds, Bungo!

Posted: 21 Dec 2017 11:02 PM PST

Apple, of all companies, gave gamers a victory this week. Apple changed their App Store Guidelines regarding lootboxes. Developers must disclose odds related to items found in lootboxes. I'm sure this is a response to mitigate any government involvement or regulation after BFII. Imagine at least being shown the odds Eververse plays with. Bungie, you want a mobile freemium game economy? Tell us the odds. Don't think that's a good idea? Fix your odds then.

http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-iphone-games-must-disclose-loot-box-odds-2017-12

EDIT: Excellent point was made by /u/GreenLego regarding Odds and Probability and how the article gets them confused. You'd think businessinsider would know these things but apparently not.

Destiny 2 and The Expansion Pass is $31.99 at GameStop

Posted: 22 Dec 2017 04:43 AM PST

I have a few friends who wanted to play D2, but held out because the cost didn't match the value. Now you can get what I paid $100 to get for only $32 on Playstation and Xbox at Gamestop (and those of you smart enough to get a refund can rebuy the game for a third of what you bought it for initially)!

Suffice it to say, I will not be pre-ordering or buying any Destiny title until a few months have passed; Bungie has seriously dicked us in the butt with this husk of what D1 was. This is a great way to buff your dwindling friends-list of Destiny players with those who may have not been able to realize the crap we've been living for months!

Edit: Added seperate XB1 and PS4 links

Edit 2: the links seem to be dead. Those of you that took advantage of it earlier, more power to you. GameStop probably took the listings down.

Wondering why your whole team is spamming Nova Bombs and you still lose?

Posted: 22 Dec 2017 11:04 AM PST

Glitched Nova Bombs award only 1 point per kill in Mayhem Clash, compared to 3 for other supers. I solo-queued against a full team of Nova Bomb spammers last night. They got more kills than my team of randoms but still lost by 30 points. Keep using the glitch, I've got 6 GG shots for you and your Slowvas.

Why do all weapons do at least 20% more damage in PvE than pulse rifles?

Posted: 22 Dec 2017 04:22 AM PST

They take longer to complete a firing cycle, and are less accurate than scout rifles, yet do less damage.

All other basic weapons do the same damage as each other except for pulse rifles and SMGs.

Am I missing something here or does Bungie just flat out not understand how math works?

Boons discourage early quitters. This is a step in the right direction.

Posted: 22 Dec 2017 06:47 AM PST

Eververse micortransaction crap aside, the fact that Bungie has implemented boons to grant rewards at the end of an activity (Strikes, Crucible) is an incentive to see that match through to the end.

I usually pride myself on seeing every Crucible match through, unless it is basically an unplayable mess (1 v 4 laser tag a few weeks ago, anyone?), but I'll be honest... knowing I'm getting a reward at the end of the match is a nice little cherry on top, even if the match itself was a loss.

Bungie may make a lot of bad decisions according to this sub, but you've gotta admit that this is a good little addition. They could have easily implemented a debuff or timeout for people who quit games, but that would also punish people who accidentally DC - by instead rewarding those who stay until the end, they're helping foster a fairer and friendlier community.

Ghost shell list by location and activity - Season 2 + Dawning Update

Posted: 22 Dec 2017 06:22 AM PST

As you may or may not know, each shell has an affinity for a single location or activity, be it EDZ, Titan, IO, Nessus, Mercury, Crucible or Strikes. It will ALWAYS roll perks for that specific location/activity, no matter how many instances of that shell you receive, or it can roll Gunsmith telemetry.

Following on from the excellent work by u/Rook7425 in his thread for Season one ghosts, I hope to make a complete list of the ghosts so far detailing their possible perk rolls. As I have only a few of the many ghosts available I require the help of fellow guardians to help fill it out so as to provide information for all. That way, if you're using your dust to get those perfect Ghost shell rolls (which is what you should be spending that dust on) you'll know which ones to be looking for when they go on sale. Feel free to let me know any mistakes or misinformation within this post also.

The Crimson is bad because it has a low crit modifier.

Posted: 22 Dec 2017 04:23 AM PST

Well, crimson has the same impact as a 110 rpm hand cannon, which do 47 body damage, and crimson does almost the same, but just over 3 bullets (16x3=48)

But, crimson does far less crit damage than 110 rpm hand cannons, they do 71 on a crit, allowing for a 3 shot 1.07 seconds optimal ttk if you hit all crits.

By this logic so should crimson. But it does not. It only does 21 damage per bullet in a burst, meaning that it only gets 63 damage in a burst of crits,

This is because it's precision damage bonus is only +33%, but the regular 110 rpm hand cannons have +50%.

Why is it that crimson has been made so it cannot get a three burst kill all crits?

It doesn't make sense that it can't, seeing that it has the same impact as an aggressive frame hand cannon.

If it had a +50% crit modifier, the damage would be 16 body 24 head, so basically 48 body 72 head. Just one more damage overall than 110 rpm hand cannons.

This would mean if, you hit all crits you get a 1.13 second ttk, but punished with a slow 1.4 seconds ttk if you miss. Just like the 110 rpm hand cannons.

now it has potential if you have a skilled hand, and that's how hand cannons should be.

It really should have been like this from the get go. It's healing and magazine refilling utility is great, but it's useless if it is a bad weapon with a slow optimal ttk.

There are plenty of weapons that have around 1.13 ttk's if you are accurate, for example, 540 rpm pulse rifles and vigilance wing.

Simply put, it's completely baffling that bungie would put such a low crit modifier on crimson.

Why don't strike 'commanders? voices' change after DLC's have been purchased?

Posted: 22 Dec 2017 04:15 AM PST

The Pyramidion strike, when Ikora talks about 'possibly' hearing Osiris' voice. She now knows what he's doing, why is she so surprised she may be hearing his voice? Especially in the Pyramidion.

Not sure if it happens at any other time, just kinda annoying that Veteran voice lines can be made, but vanilla strikes can't be updated when a Paid DLC is purchased.

Why we can't have nice things (warlock mayhem glitch)

Posted: 22 Dec 2017 05:40 AM PST

For 3 months I've had to read about how much the community hates the mida / uriels meta. If it's not a complain about the meta then it falls back to how pvp works (4 man vs randos, combined playlists, etc.) We finally get mayhem which was the best received item since launch and now now even 72 hours later, the playlist is absolutely cancerous due to people deciding the only way to win is via a glitch. As someone who had lens pre xur and nerf, I understand the temptation. Indeed I used the thing to quickly complete my milestones and then didn't venture into pvp again. Why? Because while it was fun at first, using something as broken as the lens tired quickly.

So to the guys spamming slowva bombs in mayhem, thanks for making a casual and fun playlist more cancerous than trials and ruining a playlist that was ideal for solos, casuals, and hardcore alike. Enjoy the high Kd for the little time you have it, I am more excited to teabag you than I was for even Gary.

This would be way too fun! 4th wall breaking, self aware, and the most fun way to get everyone back on track

The best pic taken throughout my entire Destiny experience

We all have moments in gaming that have to be memorialized. Beating that tough as hell boss, catching an amazing skybox shot, that epic pvp score, those wtf glitches, etc.

But this... I think THIS tops them all for me in Destiny. This was the one time lag made me smile.

I miss daily bounties

I always thought that the daily bounties were worthless filler, but they were always something I wanted to do. I miss this and think it could do well in the drought we currently have. I'm sure the rewards would just be tokens but, still.
