Destiny 2 commands with Alexa, without Echo device

Hi everyone ! I figured out how to use Alexa voice commands on an Android phone without having to actually possess an Echo device and wanted to share this with you. Well maybe this "hack" already existed, but I wasn't able to find it and just figured it out by trial and error.

Here's how to do it. Enjoy :)

First of all, you must possess an Amazon account. I don't know if a Prime membership is required since I already have one and things worked fine. Please leave a comment if so, I'll update this post if necessary.

Step 1 : install "Amazon Alexa"

  1. Well, hum, install Amazon from the store :) If the app is not available in your region, you can download the apk file from a third party website and it'll work perfectly fine (this is what I did since I'm in France).
  2. Launch the Alexa app and log in with your Amazon account.
  3. Accept the general terms of use by clicking "Continue".
  4. You will be prompted to add an Echo device. Ignore this step by clicking "Skip device setup".
  5. At this step, you won't be able to access the options available in the App and you will need to use another app to "emulate" a device, so quit the Alexa app for now.

Step 2 : install "Reverb for Amazon Alexa"

  1. Look for "Reverb for Amazon Alexa" on the Play store and install it.
  2. Launch the Reverb app and click on "Sign in" to log in with your Amazon account - you will be redirected to an Amazon webpage for that.
  3. Click "I accept" to link Reverb to your Amazon account.
  4. You will be prompted to grant permission to record audio files and access your position. I don't know if this is mandatory but I accepted both.
  5. Upon accepting, you will be redirected to the Alexa app which will prompt you to add a new device. Again click "Skip device setup" and you will have access to all the options available in the Alexa app !

Step 3 : install the Destiny 2 "skill"

  1. Within the Alexa app, click on the menu button on the upper left of the screen, i.e. the icon with 3 lines, left to "Home" and go to the "Skills" tab.
  2. Type "Destiny" in the "Search all skills" field and select "Destiny 2 Ghost"
  3. Click on "Enable" and you will be redirected to Bungie's website.
  4. Select the appropriate platform and log in with your Blizzard account. You will then see a message "Destiny 2 Ghost has been successfully linked"
  5. Close this window by clicking on the upper left X and you will be redirected to the Alexa app

PSA: Don't deconstruct the Prometheus Lens if you don't own the DLC

The weapon is no longer acquirable if you don't have the DLC - So even if you purchased it, if you dismantle it it's gone. It does not show up in the collection, and as such you can't grab a new one.
