Self Post Sundays! - December 17, 2017

Posted: 16 Dec 2017 08:09 PM PST

To foster more discussion about the games every Sunday we turn the subreddit into self-post only mode.

Self-Post Sundays are our main discussion day. On those days we only allow text posts directly about the games themselves.

Please save your images, fan art, screenshots, videos, etc to the other days of the week. Use this day to discuss the games. Other posts will be removed.

Anyone else hoping for a WWHD/TPHD port to the switch?

Posted: 17 Dec 2017 04:17 AM PST

I've been loving BOTW, it's absolutely fantastic. I ended up giving my brother my Wii U so that he could play it at his house but that meant I couldn't play Wind Waker or Twilight Princess anymore. It would be a dream to have WW or TP available on the eshop and I genuinely hope Nintendo consider making it available for those with a switch.

Imagine this sort of place in a zelda game?

Posted: 17 Dec 2017 06:35 AM PST

Link having to travel to a different land much like in the oracle games but one of the regions of the land is a desolate wasteland dotted with the ruins of civilization that was destroyed over a century ago

This region of land was once home to an industrial superpower that threatened hyrule in the past. It attempted to invade and Conquer the kingdom but the Hylian Royal Family used the triforce on the enemy civilization, eradicating their entire civilization and decimating their land leaving behind a vast wasteland dotted with the the ruins of cities and other industrial infrastructure.

The place looks as though it has been hit by a nuke, and the ruins look as though they had been devastated in a bombing raid.

The enemies there being stalfos, redeads, and the fanatical soldiers of a military junta that formed from the remnants of this destroyed civilization.

further exploration of the land and the ruins indicate that the civilization was an oppressive fascist totalitarian regime (Similar to Nazi Germany or oceania form 1984) that invaded hyrule for it's resources and territory. Those motives arguably resulted in their destruction. Sources from other regions of this land have accounts that describe the Triforce destroying that civilization as bright flashes of light coming form the land that this wasteland occupies followed by a thunderous rumble that followed a few seconds later. reminiscent of a nuclear strike.

the Dungeon of this world is a large ruined factory that once produced weapons for this civilizations ruthless war machine.

The entire basic premise of this land is to shown a country that Hyrule Destroyed instead of Hyrule being the one destroyed and that the power of the triforce can be this destructive and can be an effective weapon of mass destruction if it wanted to.

Though in principle This is basically link exploring the bombed out Interwar ruins of the country from the film 9, by tim burton/shane Acker

Canon discussion and World Map of Zelda?

Posted: 17 Dec 2017 01:18 AM PST

One thing that is extremely bothering is that Zelda doesn't have a regional intercontinental world map. Combining Hyrule, Termina, the seas from windwaker, etc... I was wondering if there was some form of a geographical zelda map including everything.

Also, does anyone think Nintendo will explain the canon to the Zelda games or even give us information on what happened to Link after Majora's Mask? Opinions?

Lag when using the Master Cycle Zero

Posted: 17 Dec 2017 08:50 AM PST

When I'm riding on it, the game will freeze and then an enemy will spawn right in front of me. This is a minor thing but take in the fact that a game this size can run on such a small console.

Will they ever release a game where Zelda is the protagonist?

Posted: 16 Dec 2017 11:58 PM PST

Sorry if this has been brought up before, but wouldn't it be cool if Zelda had to save Link in a game? Would you guys buy it? Honestly, I get tired of seeing the same damsel in distress story over and over. Zelda's story isn't as dumb as Princess Peach's in Mario, but still. I feel like Zelda has the power to be a bad-ass. (Peach isn't portrayed as a very strong woman, but Zelda is.) Any thoughts? I'm done with Breath Of The Wild and I already want a sequel for my Switch. I feel like they could do something new and different again.

The lack of enemy diversity sticks out like a sore thumb. [BotW]

Posted: 16 Dec 2017 09:30 PM PST

It is literally the one and only problem I have with this game. And yet, it's something that's prevalent throughout its entirety. If not for this, I would be certain that it's a perfect 10.

I love the world design, the combat, the flexibility, the amount of things to do, and the item selection. I especially love little touches, like Zelda's white dress, the use of Greatswords, the ability to ride Lynels, and even shield surfing. I feel it's an 11/10 in nearly every way, but just falls short for that one reason.

Decisions, decisions...

Posted: 16 Dec 2017 01:33 PM PST

i've been looking forward to playing BotW and, in particular, its snow sections. I recently came across someone referring to those sections as a "chore," though. Thoughts?

Posted: 17 Dec 2017 01:23 AM PST

I'd just like to request no spoilers, please, as I have yet to play the game.

I'm usually a fan of snow/ice areas in games. Snowpeak Ruins, from Twilight Princess, is one of my favourite areas in any game. So, after the lack of snow in SS, I was glad to learn that BotW features snow.

Seeing a comment about those areas being a chore kind of left me curious, though. I am unable to decide for myself right now as I have not played the game. I know it's only one opinion, but I'm wondering if any of you share it? Again, if you could address this in general terms, without spoilery details, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

Where to find metal cubes!

Posted: 17 Dec 2017 04:57 AM PST

I'm curious where one could find those giant metal cubes that don't break or are those just exclusive to shrines I can't remember.

Need help getting a gift for a LoZ lover (as a non player)

Posted: 16 Dec 2017 08:18 PM PST

So I'm looking to get a LoZ themed gift for a good friend of mine who loves the franchise, the two problems I'm having are that I know very little about the games (I've played only like half of twilight princess) and that he dosnt like stuff thats overtly nerdy. So something more subtle or maybe like an in joke or reference for people who really know the games. Thanks in advance for any help!
