DayZ - Need Some Guidance

Need Some Guidance

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 07:26 AM PST

Hi All!

My friend and I are getting DayZ soon and would like somebody to show us the ropes for a little while. Because I'm on vacation, I really won't be able to play until later in the month, but am eager to find a player to help.

As my friend, u/darkfountain, will be off of vacation earlier than me, you might be able to catch him at a good time to play.

To all the People working on Dayz SA

Posted: 22 Dec 2017 01:54 PM PST

First of all, merry Christmas to the devs and ofc to all beloved Dayz players and EA supporters....after 3 years playing, waiting, being curious always when a new patch comes, i dont think you guys will dissapoint me <3 ppl would call me a fanboy. you know what? i dont f--king care xD dayz may not evolve like some x-men, but still, its the best ive ever played (and ima huge zombie-survivalfan). so, id say let them take a 2 weeks break, or 3. i dont care. as long as they will give us what we all want: a finished product what we all, and the devs can be proud of. ppl think, the devs are lazy, i say, they are on the project, with heart and soul, and that takes a while (surely when you create a new engine) and people should appreciate work like that. i know you guys will hate me and flame me in subreddit, but for some of you. i hope you know what im about to say. its just, nowadays its hard to get some games, where Devs are really in to it. mostly its Cash. This Post is not meant to be fanboying, or hating. i just want to let you guys know, that a team like Bohemia at least is trying to give us (real survivalfans) a game we truly deserve. and i dont think i will be dissapointed when SA finally get released.

'Session Lost'. Long Blue Screen Before Joining Servers. Help lol

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 02:56 AM PST

Ever since 0.62 came out, I've been getting very long light blue screens when joining servers, when I finally get in, I get about 1 minute play time before I get session lost.

Here's what I've tried:

-Resetting router

-Release and renew DHCP

-Open ports 2302, 2304, 2305

-Restarting PC

-Reinstalling DayZ

-Verifying game integrity

-Switching from Wi-Fi to personal hotspot

-Reinstalling BattlEye

-Clearing DayZ documents

I can't think of anything else to do...

Population

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 05:47 AM PST

Hi there, so me and my friend have been thinking of getting back into DayZ. I've played it quite a bit back when the game was really popular and there were a lot of content creators playing it. I tried looking up DayZ in the most played games stats on Steam but didn't see it there? Is the game this dead? Is it worth buying before release? And I've heard something about the experimental branch, is that more popular? Sorry if these questions get asked requently im just curious and want to get back to playing if there's atleast 1 server with some people on it. (BTW: Are there any cheaters? Because I remember there were quite a lot of them when I was playing couple years ago.)

Getting enfusion error

Posted: 22 Dec 2017 07:57 PM PST

Howdy folks, I've just started getting the http://i.imgur.com/wgKpoKn.png error. I'm currently on my laptop, it has the GTX 860m, i7 2.4 quad core. Only new thing that I can see that would have changed is a windows update perhaps. has anybody else started having issues with the new windows 1709 update?

DayZ 2018 Predictions

Posted: 22 Dec 2017 08:45 AM PST

2018 is boom or bust. I have faith, but I'm curious what everyone thinks is going to happen, not just in terms of the actual game, but in terms of community response. Here are my predictions, chime in with yours! Again, these are just my predictions; I'm just guessing. No one come back later and say "well I read that the Beta will launch in June of 2018 from some rando on reddit and it didn't, FUCK THE DEVS."

1. DayZ Will Launch Beta in June of 2018

I'm calling June, fuck it. There's absolutely no concrete or tangible reason for me to think that, it could be longer, or it could be less, but June feels like a safe guess. I await my internet points. It's not only going to launch, but it's going to be a new and wonderful experience, and the new Player Controller will truly change everything. Some people will hate it, and we will eventually see "DayZ Classic" Mods that restore pre-beta functionality, for some reason.

2. There Will Be a "Controversy" Over the Price

One of the most consistent things that we've known about this game since it hit Early Access over 2013, is that the game would launch at $29.99 and eventually creep up in price, eventually hitting full price with the release of Beta. Here's a link from a June 2013 Kotaku article that details exactly that, and this information is pretty readily available in other places.

https://kotaku.com/dayz-fans-sent-us-questions-for-the-games-creator-we-513010392

"Can you give us a ballpark on pricing?"

No—the reason I say no is that I get really confused between all the currencies. So if I say twenty dollars, I can't remember whether that's twenty euro, twenty dollars, very confusing. But it's gonna be cheaper than Arma II. And it's going to start out very cheap with alpha, then ramp up. (Ed note: DayZ is going to be priced similarly to Minecraft, where players can pay less than the final retail price to opt into the alpha, then get the beta and full game when they're eventually released.)

But, it absolutely won't matter. Sections of the community, and more specifically, r/gaming, will RAGE about the "scam" of the price increase. There will be a deluge of Youtube videos ranting endlessly about how this is a "garbage" move from BI, and how they have no right to suddenly charge full price for this game. These posts will reach the top of r/gaming and eventually r/all, and some gaming outlets will eventually "dig into" the matter to prove or disprove this injustice. It will eventually go away, but there will always be some segment of this outrage left over, hopefully to be downvoted into oblivion in the years to come.

3. DayZ Will Have a Rough Console Launch

It will eventually hit consoles sometime in the late Summer of 2018, in a very rough capacity, akin to PUBG's issues on Xbox One. Internally, the biggest issues for the team will be optimizing the game's performance for the wide range of SKUS available, such as the PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, S, and X, and the game will definitely stutter on the "lower tier" versions of those consoles. Compromises will eventually be made in the service of performance, such as a much smaller map and less players, akin to Minecraft when it first hit consoles, but the game will still be enjoyable. The biggest change will be the radial menu used for controller support, and you will eventually see mods that add in that functionality on PC. It will do well, but PC will always be the true home of DayZ. It will not hit the Nintendo Switch. This will anger people. Except petitions.

4. Streamers Will "Save" DayZ

Streamers have long become the best way to spread word of mouth for a game, and have always been a part of DayZ's DNA. After 1.0, it will really be this word of mouth that reignites the interest in this game. Funny or intersting gameplay gifs will start making the rounds on twitter, the "social experiments" we used to see related to this game will suddenly boom again, and the player counts will swell to numbers that rival the early years. Mods will expand this further.

5. Modding Will Be HUGE

Sometimes the community makes the mistake of assuming modders are "better" than The Devs, when it is really apples and oranges. That said, modders are capable of doing amazing things, (and based on the Year End Video from The Devs, they are just as excited for modding as we are), and there's going to be some truly amazing mods. Aside from the obvious GUNS FOR EVERYONE Epoch YOU GET A JEEP YOU GET A JEEP EVERYBODY GETS A JEEP and whatever else type mods, I think we are going to see some really neat takes on the game formula. No guns, Medieval weapons only, Old West Mods, New Maps, Sci-Fi mods; this stuff is truly going to give the game life well beyond the vanilla product and I can't wait to see what people come up with.

6. There's Going to be a Good Old-Fashioned Moral Panic

This usually happens with a "controversial" video game, and we've had shades of it with DayZ, but some 12 year old in Florida is going to eat a Dalmatian and someone's going to find DayZ on his computer and the next time you're getting your oil changed you're going to see a local news blurb about this "DANGEROUS NEW GAME" where you can "EAT PEOPLE AND COOK THEM", and we will all get very tired of it.

Those are my predictions.

In Beta We Trust, Deliver They Must.
