So something pretty unlucky happened to me last night,

Posted: 09 Dec 2017 02:45 AM PST

I'm overwatching stary in double red at the end of the town, when I open inventory and my game crashes, but a second before I crash, I see a player spawn into the room I'm in. Suffice to say I respawned on the coast after I relaunched.

DayZ Treasure Hunt

Posted: 08 Dec 2017 08:01 AM PST

Hello survivors!

I will be hosting a treasure hunt on a 1/3 PP public hive server. The treasure itself is a cumulation of loot that me and my crew have gathered over the last 3 months. Since everyone else in my crew has quit the game, I wanted to give the loot away in the form of a treasure hunt. It'd be something fun to do and different, so why not?

Format:

The treasure hunt involves the participants completing a series of 4 Photo OPs of various Chernarus landmarks across the map. At 16:00 EST, (i.e., 5 Hours from the time of this post) I will post 4 clues in this thread. The participants must decipher each clue to obtain the landmark in question, travel to the landmark, and take a screen shot of of their character(s) at the landmark or with the landmark in clear view behind them, and to send it to me. Once I receive the screenshot of the correct landmark, I will give the participant a piece of clue to the location of the treasure via PM. The photo ops can be done in any order. Once a participant/group of participants has completed all four photo ops, I will PM them a final puzzle which can be solved using the 4 clues they got from the photo ops challenges to obtain the exact location and server at which the treasure stash is located.

A couple of things to note:

  1. All submitted photos must have the participant/participants in question with their character's faces in clear view (i.e., no masks, etc) and emoting the thumbs up emote (F7). This is so I can be sure that you aren't just googling any random screenshot.

  2. If you decide to participate as a group, you must complete all four photo ops as a group before receiving the final puzzle. i.e., you can't just send one person to each landmark. I have to see the same person/people in every screenshot (barring someone having to log off in the middle of the treasure hunt, of course).

  3. I will let you know if you deciphered the clue incorrectly and sent me the wrong landmark. However I will not help you beyond that. Note that some of the clues have more than one possible landmark/location as an answer. However it is up to the participant to find the most relevant location.

  4. You can use any server that you want; Community or Public. Do note that the treasure itself is on a public shard, though.

  5. The event will go on until 11:00 PM EST, Dec 9th. After which I will simply post all 4 clues and the final puzzle. Whomever eventually first solves it will get the treasure.

Beyond that, GL to all who participate, and see you at the hunt!

Photo Ops 4 Clue:

008000

Update: May have made the clues a little bit too hard to decipher? So far the farthest someone has gotten was 2/4 of the Photo Ops.

Either way, I'll be up pretty late tonight if those participating still want to continue. If no participating groups/individuals can finish all 4 photo ops by tomorrow @ 11:00 PM, then I will simply post all 4 clues and the final puzzle like I originally planned.

What would you do if .63 wasn't any good?

Posted: 08 Dec 2017 06:01 PM PST

This isn't a thread for or against DayZ. I'm looking for the honest opinion of DayZ players if .63 is a total bust.

Backpack

Posted: 08 Dec 2017 08:23 PM PST

If they add more backpacks to DayZ, I would like to see the Karrimor SF Sabre. It has two zippers on each side that can be used to expand/shrink the pack. The zippers can also be used to attach side pouches which can also be used as a day pack and can zip together. You could find this pack and wear it zipped up small to keep a low profile and because you don't have many items maybe. Then expand it a bit when you need the room. Then you get fully geared with the side pouches. Then you just hide your pack in the bushes and go off with your day pack, even your buddy could take a day pack. What do you guys think?

Looking to get back into DayZ SA

Posted: 08 Dec 2017 01:14 PM PST

Years ago the plan was to gear up at the NWAF on low pop servers at night and to then jump on high pop day servers and head to Cherno for kills. What is the me to meta now? Do people still play on official servers or do most people stick to a single custom server (since characters aren't progressive)? I'm just looking to get the most fun out of the game but so far most servers have had VERY bad lot. Like the servers haven't been reset in weeks. I've tried both high loot noob servers and official.
