Some of the story in this game is pretty dour.

The fadus quests, for example, have you speak to some fadus ascetics who tell you about how a calamity came (meteor) that fulfilled a prophecy; allowing one of them to become a great warrior against evil. The meteor caused an area to be filled with poisonous ash. The fadus thought the ash could help them train body and mind, since it was dangerous. It instead drove them insane, and other fadus have to make the decision to literally genocide their own race.

That's some pretty heavy stuff for a "kill 600 monsters" flavor text.

edit: the quests I'm talking about are, Authentic training (black spirit), eternal rest and pure warriors will.

Hey everyone!

Recently got back into Black Desert, I dropped my 57 Musa for a bit to try out new things, currently have a 50 Ninja and planning on levelling him.

Been playing for around 2 years now so know a lot about many aspects of the game, want to get full fledged into money making, bossing and of course grinding!

I am on the NA Server, and also Australian, so timezone is AEST, let me know if you would want to play together, got Discord and am on a whole lot.

I'm new here and noticed that BDO doesn't use your graphics card, rather the onboard graphics. I went from 20 FPS to 60 FPS when I figured out how to switch to my GPU.

I went to my nvidia control panel and forcefully enabled the nvidia gpu for BDO executables. Game is like butter now.. why would they even have an option to use your onboard graphics :\

On u/ment2008's recent post on his total pearl cost to breed 5x T4 pets, /u/wyn10 was kind enough to link the datamined pet exchange rates, which got me wondering: what's the average cost of a T4?

I decided to do a bit of napkin math to find out.

We have two different calculations to make:

  1. The optimal rate (all pets are leveled to 10)
  2. The suboptimal rate (all pets are level 1)

Assuming:

  1. T1 = a,
  2. T2 = b,
  3. T3 = c,
  4. T4 = d,
  5. b = c (I'll explain this a bit later)

Optimal:

  1. 2a = .45b + .55c (T1+T1 exchange)
  2. 2a = c
  3. 2c = .65c + .35d (T2+T3/T3+T3 exchange)
  4. 1.35c = .35d
  5. 2.7a = .35d
  6. d = 54/7a = ~7.714a
  7. 1 T4 pet = ~7.714 T1 pets

Suboptimal:

  1. 2a = .495b +.505c (T1+T1 exchange)
  2. 2a = c
  3. 2c = .695c + .305d (T2+T3/T3+T3 exchange)
  4. 1.305c = .305d
  5. 2.61a = .305d
  6. d = 522/61a = ~8.557a
  7. 1 T4 pet = ~8.557 T1 pets

Now I'll explain the bit about b = c:

Because T2+T3 is functionally identical to T3+T3, and the worst possible outcome of this exchange is another T3, you only need to obtain a single T3 to make all T2 pets functionally identical to T3 pets for the sake of exchange.

For example, you decide to exchange T1+T1 3 times (6 T1 pets) and you get a T2 pet from each exchange (3 T2 pets). By now you're probably sweating because the T1+T2/T2+T2 exchange bracket is inefficient and you want to avoid it at all costs. You exchange another T1+T1, but this time you get your T3. Now you can exchange your T3 with one of your T2s. Best case scenario, you get the T4 you wanted! Worst case scenario, you get another T3... which you can then continue to exchange with all your extra T2s for the more efficient exchange until you either get your T4 or run out of T2s and end up with a single T3.

Now you're probably asking, "Well, what is the chance this actually holds true and I'll get at least one T3?"

Optimal: 1 - .4527/7 = ~95.4%

Rounded Optimal: 1 - .454 = ~95.9% (8 T1 pets)

Suboptimal: 1 - .495261/61 = ~95.1%

Rounded Suboptimal: 1 - .4954 = ~94.0% (8 T1 pets)

The answer to this question, in both instances, is approximately 95%, which I consider to be significant enough to make the assumption.

In conclusion: the average number of T1 pets needed to obtain a T4 pet is between ~7.714 and ~8.557, depending on whether you level your pets to 10 before exchanging, with roughly 95% accuracy.

How often do events like the upcoming free maid happen?

What i mean by this is actually how often do we get the chance to receive gifts which are usually pearl shop only, i played this game only for a bit when it was on sale and summit started streaming it, stopped because my PC was not that good and i had heavily flawed RNG.

Back then during each log in i would get very expensive stuff in general which was mostly found in pearl shop like pets, but how often are these extremly rewarding events happening? is it a reliable way to obtain pearl shop items lets say each 4-6 months or is something thats just happening once a year ?

I've just gotten 4 quests to get crimson eye ring, earring all that but I don't have any idea how to get the items to trade for them and there is no black spirit notification or anything on how to get them. Help?

Kama 2 quest Question, the quest at temple where you become immune to mobs just after getting second forest fury (sorry, I'm at work and forget the name) where to go?

i spoke to the large statue, got the 3 min buff and turned into a golden ball of light and became immune to the mobs. But then the quest marker was clearly too far to walk (a winding path underground), so I imagine I was supposed to find something to interact with but then the buff wore off as I was looking around. Any hints> Its the fith last quest in the chain, right after something "legacy" where you get a second forest fury and the buff where temple mobs wont attack you. Sorry for the obscure descriptions.
