For all Event organisers: How about and Event in Prague/Czech Republic?

Posted: 14 Dec 2017 08:13 AM PST

Leipzig: 535.732 people, didnt find Metro

Austin: 885.400 people, Metro - 2.056.405

Tours: 134.817 people, Metro - 483.744

Jönköping: 122.952 people, Metro - 134.785

Valencia: 810.064 people (2008), Metro - 1.705.742 to 2.516.818

Atlanta: 447.841 people, Metro - 5.710.795

Montreal: 1.704.694 people, Metro - 4.098.927

Prague: 1.280.508 people, Metro - 2.156.097

  • Prague is literarry in the middle of Europe.
  • The Czech Championship 2017 was quite a success and there wasnt any "better" teams maybe except eXtatus
  • The Czech Championship was hosted in the second biggest city in Czech Republic - Brno (377.440)
  • Prague is not really expensive city (Dont know if its good or bad for organising an event)
  • Everybody knows Prague, even Americans.
  • Prague is easy to attend.
  • Prague is really nice city.
  • O2 Arena in Prague has capacity for over 17.000 people LANXESS has 18.000, Spodek 11.500
  • Plus it has one of the best night life in Europe, any tournament there and nobody would have to worry with 100 thieves. (Thanks to Kr1ggs) And it's only 9,90€ travel from Berlin, Hostels for 9-15€ a day, 1€ for a good bier, I'd definitly attend. (Thanks to Kr1ggs)

Now, I dont know anything about organising an event and I am sure there is alot of things that i have no idea about that has to be considered. But from my perspective Prague is more than good enough city to host an Event and I am sure thousands will want to attend.

I am also wondering - Why there is no chance for fans to vote for their Country/City and if it is, where?

I am a big fan of CS:GO events and I am watching every event over 100.000$ prizepool on stream, because unfortunately, I cannot afford to travel to Events out of my Country.

PS: There was an event "District Prague Challenge" in 2013 with mix kennyS, TaZ, NEO, apex and someone I dont know (NOSTALGIE) winning it.

PS2: Natus Vincere also attended this event and finished 2nd.

PS3: Reddit didnt allow me to post links for twitch clip of The Czech Championship and YouTube video from district. Look for it yourself if you want.

EDIT I know that number of people doesnt matter, its meant to show Prague is "up there" they can expect people attending. I am adding the "Metro" numbers so some people wont get butthurt.

Why CS:GO should have an internal resolution scaler

Posted: 14 Dec 2017 08:33 AM PST

Many people have great PCs that can run the latest games at 1080p60 ultra however there are also those that can barely run games at 720p ultralow at 60fps. A lot of the time the system is GPU-bound.

The settings in CS:GO barely make a difference. You will barely gain anything from putting the settings to low. Something that does give a tangible improvement is lowering resolution (explanation). Unfortunately, at lower resolutions text is hard to see. This doesn't usually affect gameplay much but it is an annoyance.

A lot of modern games have a feature called internal resolution scaling. This allows the user to adjust the resolution that the game renders at without affecting the UI. There is software that allows this on CS:GO itself called Hialgo Boost. This reduces the resolution when the system can't quite push a solid framerate (video using Hialgo Boost). The problem with using external software is that you can get banned if the game thinks you're cheating.

Valve should add this feature to CS:GO as it would allow users the change resolution without affecting the UI and resorting to using external programs. A dynamic resolution scaler would be even better but non-dynamic is still better than nothing.

I am not aware, however, if the engine limits such features. I am simply suggesting.

Fun Fact: Out of the 5 Majors that TL has attended (Including EL 2018), they have used a stand in for 3 of them. They have also always had better results while using one.
