Connecting ALttp and Zelda 2 to Botw

Posted: 18 Nov 2017 02:48 AM PST

So I noticed that spectacle rock is located in the Gerudo highlands, instead of death mountain and it got me thinking, Why? Then it hit me, Spectacle rock in botw is the same spectacle rock from Zelda 1 and Zelda 2.

Hebra and the Hyrule ridge are Zelda 2's north Hyrule, Gerudo desert is Zelda 1's Hyrule, and Death mountain/zoras domain/Akkala is Eastern Hyrule from Zelda 2.

The Tabantha tundra and North Lomei Labyrinth line up with the Parapa desert and Parapa palace in Zelda 2. Rito Village is located on an island in the middle of a lake, much like the north palace (Zeldas sleeping place in Zelda 2) and appears to be more of a settlement then an actual town or village (perhaps they migrated there?). Palace island from zelda 2 matches up with Hyrule castle in botw. The Lomei Labyrinth Island matches up with the maze island from Zelda 2, apart from its size. The huge chasm the existing the north and west sides of Hyrule is usually a continuation of the sea, but someone (The shiekah perhaps?) have dammed it just north of akkala, perhaps to prevent another mass flooding of Hyrule? Ludfo's bog and Thundra Plateau are located in a similar location to Midoro Palace and it's surrounding swampland from Zelda 2.

Botw also has many places referencing Zelda 2, but mainly located in the overlapping areas of their maps.

The Gerudo Highlands could potentially be the original death mountain range from zelda 1 and 2, judging by the location of spectacle rock. Hyrule field is in the lowlands, which could be flooded (King Doraphan of the Zora and East Resevoir lake perhaps? etc) This also means that the Gerudo desert is old Hyrule from Zelda 1.

Tamio river and Regencia river separate satori mountain from Hyrule, much like how Saria river separates the town of Saria from Hyrule in Zelda 2.

You also never traverse through death mountain and reach the other side in many zelda games (usually you just climb it), but in Zelda 2 you have to travel to the other side of death mountain to where zelda 1's Map is located.

Zora's domain also matches up to a similar location in Zelda 2 on its eastern island, so perhaps death mountain erupted between zelda 2 and botw.

Now onto Alttp. If we look at Botw's map and rotate it about 45 degrees to the left the terrain looks very similar to alttp's Hyrule: Hyrule forest with the master sword in the north west, Death mountain to the north, Zora's domain to the north east. Sahasra slope existing in the east ( the player never explores past the Lanayru range and the duelling peaks in alttp.) Lake hylia exists in the southwest, and the desert exists in the south east(Ish).

So Hyrule might have semi-regular mass flooding events in its history. OoT and Alttp exist during a dry era, while zelda 1 and 2 exist during a flood era, or something.

Just wanted to get this out of my brain and into the Internet.

My very first Zelda game

Posted: 18 Nov 2017 08:46 AM PST

I just started playing botw last night and as the title says this is the first time I've ventured into Hyrule. First of all I'd like to say I'm blown away already. I'm having a blast and I'm only 3 shrines in. With that being said I am God awful at this game. I usually can hold myself well enough in any game, but for some reason I am dying every two seconds. Any advice on how to not be horrible at this game?

Expansion pass question

Posted: 18 Nov 2017 05:43 AM PST

So my wife and I are absolutely loving BotW. Has to be one of the most amazing games I've ever played. We're buying the expansion pass today and I have a question about it and Amiibo. Do they all work across both of our accounts? We're new to the switch, so we aren't sure.

[Don't know if this counts as a spoiler or not] Just completed the "Hero of Time" armor set in BOTW with the help of a neat exploit

So when you scan in an amiibo in Breath of the Wild, the game only allows one scan each day, right? Well, if you save before scanning in an amiibo and reload the save after you get a random weapon or a repeat, the game thinks that you never scanned in that amiibo for the day. I'm pretty sure at least some of you guys are aware of this exploit, but I've never seen a post here of someone explaining it.

I remixed a song from Breath of the Wild! (Trance Remix)

Hey guys! I thought this might be something that interests some of you. I recently completed an uplifting trance remix of the music that plays at "The Flight Range" in Breath of the Wild. I'm super happy with how it came out! I hope you enjoy it!

Anyway, here's a link!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_5nb506glo
