Self Post Sundays! - November 26, 2017

Posted: 25 Nov 2017 08:09 PM PST

To foster more discussion about the games every Sunday we turn the subreddit into self-post only mode.

Self-Post Sundays are our main discussion day. On those days we only allow text posts directly about the games themselves.

Please save your images, fan art, screenshots, videos, etc to the other days of the week. Use this day to discuss the games. Other posts will be removed.

[SPOILERS] Guys, I just bought a house!

Posted: 26 Nov 2017 07:58 AM PST

I keep getting impressed over and over at how deep this game goes. You can spend hours doing NOTHING related to the main quest. I'm somewhere in the vicinity of 50 hours in according to my profile page (which is about my total time in TP). I've just been back to Hateno and discovered the new housing! Naturally, I bought the available house right away...though I had to go sell some inventory to afford it. I'm assuming this makes for a convenient free bed and fire whenever you need them. Not overly necessary but just another cool element of the game. So, so cool.

Wishing for life after Ganon

Posted: 26 Nov 2017 08:46 AM PST

I might just be a little odd, but I feel like no Zelda game has attempted to tell the story of rebuilding after the devastation that Ganon inevitably brings. Seems like Breath of the Wild would be the perfect platform to let players choose to help Zelda rebuild Hyrule, recruit a new Hyrule Garrison, clean up the ruins and Guardians, and be able to improve the lives of the people. How cool would it be to be able to stand on a hill and look over a rebuilt Castle Town?

A pipe dream, I'm sure, but I still wish for it.

BOTW DLC worth it?

Posted: 26 Nov 2017 08:58 AM PST

Recently got a switch with the sole purpose of playing botw. I've advanced pretty far in it but I'm nowhere complete with it, is it worth it to get the dlc? I have 1 Devine beast left and Ganon to defeat and I've been pushing it off because i feel the game will be over of I defeat them.

P.s. new to this subreddit pls don't kill me.

Breath of the Wild Explorer's Guide cover art (?)

Posted: 26 Nov 2017 04:08 AM PST

Is there a full scan of this cover art somewhere? Including Windblight Ganon and all. This is by far my favorite official artwork for BotW.

Just felt like sharing how incredibly happy I am with the switch and the game itself. Such a hard game to put down!

Help identifying a track from a video about ALBW

Posted: 26 Nov 2017 06:23 AM PST

DidYouKnowGaming did a video on A link between worlds and it has an AMAZING track in it towards the end, but I don't know what it is. It starts at this point in the video

Edit: It's the minigame theme from ALBW.

Since many do not believe that Breath of the Wild exists on a Converged Timeline, Then what about it existing as The Timeline that would have been if it never split into 3?

Posted: 26 Nov 2017 09:37 AM PST

What if Breath of the Wild is the Timeline that would have been if the Timeline never would have split?

If you think about it, Ocarina of time does split it up pretty good and the land formations do change because of the timeline shifts.

Create Your Own Race for the Zelda Universe

Posted: 25 Nov 2017 04:37 PM PST

Unleash your inner fanchild and create a race that would fit (or not) into the world of Hyrule/Termina/New Hyrule

I did when I was younger, and there is one race I remember creating very clearly. I did several more, but those are all fuzzy by now

The Laiari

A race of jungle warriors similar to the Mayans and Aztecs, who are very spiritual in nature claiming not only to have contact with Din, Naryu and Farore, but also lesser gods and goddesses who assist them, similar to Greek and Indian culture. They also have a deep knowledge of hyrule's history, lost technology and magic. There are fierce in battle but a very peaceful, believing it to be the source of true knowledge and faith. Additionaly, there are known to move silently through vegetation and are very connected to nature and their home itself. They are almost impossible to find apart from their secluded but welcoming home city of Laiari Haven .

As you can see, this was basically a combination of the Sheikah, Gerudo and Kokiri, but I would love to see what more creative people could come up with.

What if, in alternate timeline Ganon gets the triforce of courage?

Posted: 25 Nov 2017 06:32 PM PST

I have been playing Windwaker and suddenly this came to mind. What if..instead of the triforce of courage appearing on Link, what if he gets the triforce of power and he becomes mad with power, betrays Zelda and conquers Hyrule. The only hope: a wounded Zelda running for the desert, taken in by the gerudo. A few days later she awakens in front of the Gerudo King, Ganondorf, only this time, he awakened the triforce of courage, and through sheer stubborness of hating Link he embarks on a quest to defeat him. Not to save Hyrule, maybe just a little, but mainly for the sake of defeating him just once.

[BotW] What it looks like to truly 100%* the game with extensive usage of guides

Posted: 25 Nov 2017 01:00 PM PST

Do you think the Champions' Ballad dlc will be a separate mode/story on the main menu or do you think it will be built into the regular game? I only ask because it's set after the ending.

If you have both a New 3DS and a Wii U, is Hyrule Warriors or Hyrule Warriors Legends better?

Posted: 25 Nov 2017 04:31 PM PST

Question about the Zelda Timeline.

Posted: 25 Nov 2017 03:57 PM PST

I understand the Timeline separates into 3 main timelines but that it still has me confused.

You have, According to the Hyrule Historia:

  • Skyward Sword

  • The minish Cap

  • Four Swords

  • Ocarina of Time (Splits timeline into 3)

Hero is Defeated:

  • A Link to the Past

  • Oracle of Ages & Oracle of Seasons

  • Links Awakening

  • The Legend of Zelda

  • LoZ: Adventure of Link

Child Era Timeline:

  • Majora's Mask

  • Twilight Princess

  • Four Swords Adventure

Adult Era Timeline:

  • The Wind Waker

  • Phantom Hourglass

  • Spirit Tracks

Then from a Video with one of the Creators, it is suggested that Breath of the Wild converges all the Timelines back into 1.

What I do not understand is,

What about the Timeline where Link never shows up?

In Ocarina of time, when Link is sent back as a child, that means that adult timeline Never Happened, then when Link Stays as an Adult, the Child timeline never happens.

So am I missing something or is there a Timeline(s) that have it to when Link never Shows up?

This has bugged me for a while and some people say that those timelines would have lead to the Fallen hero Timeline but Link never really Fallen, he just never showed up.

I can understand the Adult link staying and Child link never going back and that No show timeline was Corrected with Adult link finally finishing what a 7 year absence had done.

But going back as a Child and the adult link no longer being in that timeline would create a different one since Link is no longer there so the Spirit of the Triforce of Courage is no longer able to help that particular timeline in the future.

Can you see how I am confused by this?

How would the inhabitants of Hyrule react if a person managed to pull off the following:

  • Get into outer space without the use of any magic, whatsoever.

Ocarina of time

Posted: 25 Nov 2017 12:22 PM PST

I recently got my old n64 from my parents. And obviously old tech and new tech don't work well together sometimes. What is everyone doing to fix the terrible graphics with hd TVs and Nintendo 64's?
