More character customization

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 03:07 PM PDT

Anet should consider adding some of these for fashion wars, beside more hairstyles and colors:

  • Lips color (for norn and human)

  • Actual earrings (asura gonna love this since they love ears like we love boobs)

  • Glowing war-paint for charr (on arms)

  • Horn accessories for charr (maybe something for tail too?)

  • Glowing/spiritual tattoo for norn

  • Simple, scientific symbols for asura (on arms or forehead)

  • Flower accessory for sylari (much like human female's petal hair)

  • Fireflies around sylvari at night

  • No other idea for human.

Little disappointed about missing guild upgrades with PoF

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 06:42 AM PDT

I was hoping that new upgrades for the Guild Hall would come with PoF. I know it wasn't announced, but I thought of it as something assured for every upcoming expansion. Those upgrades give a guild an additional goal. It is something a guild could take pride in. Though my childish humor appreciates 69 being the max level, it's not something a guild can be proud of anymore. By now most guilds with just a few dedicated players have reached level 69 - the level doesn't provide any information about activity and dedication of the member in a guild anymore.

ANet doesn't have guild team. I don't really like that, but I understand it. There are certainly other aspects of the game, which affect our ingame-experience much more and therefor are more important, than guild-upgrades. Still, I would like to see some upgrades added to the game from time to time and an expansion-release being such a time. They don't have to be big upgrades as a "Complete Restoration" or another "Further Exploration", some small upgrades like unlocking recipes for the scribes or home-instance nods for the GH would be enough. Anything to make it possible to let a guild visibly progress alongside its members.

The Future of WvW...

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 03:13 AM PDT

Okay, so let me preface this thread with a disclaimer that I don't intend to come across as salty, whining or just complaining a whole bunch about WvW. I genuinely would like for this thread to act as a place for constructive and progressive discussion about the future of WvW and the direction it should take. If you don't feel as if you can contribute to this thread in a similar fashion, please try to refrain from posting at all. Thank you.

So I reached out to an ANet Dev in-game to try to get their views on the idea of Unlinking the servers since this seems to be a fairly hot topic amongst the community right now. Naturally, they were hesitant to say anything due to ANet's current stance on the matter or lack thereof. So rather than just bombard my thoughts and opinions directly towards the Dev, I've decided to write this on the Forums & Reddit where I will then direct said developer to view it and hope that they respond, however, I also invite all of you to weigh in with your own views too.

Right, so first of all, it seems to me that there's a pretty big divide over the idea of Unlinking the servers, with the main arguments for and against the topic being Server Identity & Population Issues. Personally, I'm on the Server Identity side of things but I'm trying to look at it from a wider angle than that. So I asked myself, "Why do I care so much about Unlinking?" The answer is simple: I've been playing WvW since the first Beta Weekend Event, I've seen and played through every iteration of WvW up to its' current version and I miss the old days. I miss the old tier system, even for all its' faults. I miss being a part of a community that was built on Server Identity. & I miss how seriously people used to take WvW on a weekly basis, toxicity aside of course.

Now if like myself, you consider yourself a WvW Vet, I'm sure you probably do too. But therein lies our biggest problem. Right now, the WvW Community is vastly different from how it used to be. Before, we were a bunch of people who all wanted the same thing out of WvW: Badges, Bags and the ability to Spam 1 against our foes until they died. Over the years, with WvW stagnating and the long communication drought with the Devs, we have lost a lot of those original players. But with the changes that have come in over the past year or two (Pips, Reward Tracks, F2P, PoF) we've gained a whole bunch of new WvW players who don't know any different from the way WvW is now. In fact, a lot of them enjoy the current version of WvW and are likely to be the ones against unlinking the servers, but who can blame them? Not us, that's for sure. Add that to the fact that PvE players can now run in WvW more casually than ever for their Rewards and you'll probably find that the odds are pretty stacked against us.

"So what do we do? " Well first off, it's no use for us to kick and scream about the opposition. They like WvW the way it is right now and they seem to very much be in the majority of voices heard by ANet. So if ANet is hearing from them that everything's great with regards to WvW, you can bet your ass that they're not going to change a thing. Meanwhile, all we seem to have are a bunch of regurgitated threads and polls banging on about unlinking the servers every week without much afterthought for what happens next.

I think we really need to evaluate what we're asking of ANet by unlinking the servers. The whole idea of the Linking in the first place was to patch the glaring population issues we had with the old system. So to go back to that would be disastrous for everyone involved. Sure, we'd probably get our beloved identity back, but it wouldn't be long until we're stuck in the same situation we were before the Linking happened. ANet wants to avoid that at all costs and we do too. Thus, we need to have a reasonable discussion as to how things should progress after the unlinking and come up with a proposal that ANet will be able to take seriously. It's all well and good screaming and hollering for an unlink, but what good is it if we're only going to land right back at square one?

This is where I believe our biggest dilemma lies. The ability to come together and talk things out as a Community. Right now, the WvW Community, if you could even call it that, is shattered. We've got several factions pulling in all different directions and nothing is getting done or discussed for that matter. This, I believe, is why ANet plays a lot of its' cards related to WvW so close to their chest because they can never gauge who they're going to piss off by announcing new ideas. Now I've heard rumours, as to whether or not they're true I don't know, that ANet would love to invest more resources and appoint more than one dedicated developer for WvW to help address all of our various wants, needs and opinions. But why would they go through all that effort if they're only going to be pulled from pillar to post and hounded by a fractured WvW Community, who can't even vote on polls without them devolving into a big old salt-fest?

Now I can already hear a few of you: "Why should we be the ones to have to do something?" "This is ANet's game, they should fix it first." Etc.

But my point here is this: The WvW Community has always been difficult to cooperate with, a fact that was highlighted by the Desert Borderland debacle. ANet invested a lot of time and effort into that map, going so far as to reach out to specific WvW Guilds to play-test it, and we shot it down completely. Now, who's fault was that? It can't be ANet's since they were supposedly following the feedback from their play-testers. So It can only be us. Why? Because WvW has never really had a central voice, a person or group of people who listen to the Community and uses their platform to speak to ANet like Wooden Potatoes does for PvE. We're just a bunch of separate WvW Guilds, with our own agendas, who only speak up when there's something to complain about. We don't have our own space to come together and discuss WvW matters as a group, we certainly don't utilize the one we've been given at least. (I suppose you could mention GW2wvw but that was mostly full of trolls and shit-talking)

"So where do we go from here?" Well, it's up to you guys really. Either we can continue to bitch and moan about 'the current state of WvW' and hope that ANet finally does something that'll please everyone (unlikely) without any sort of feedback or direction from us? Or we man the hell up and start coming together to hammer out what we really want from WvW and in which direction we want it to head in a manner that ANet can cooperate with?

A lot of you will probably try to shoot me down from the get-go, spouting some over-used statement about how "ANet never listens to us!" But that's the exact kind of reaction I've been talking about. I look around the WvW forum and I see a hell of a lot more communication between us and the Devs than we've ever had before, so why not capitalize on that for the future, rather than moaning about things that have happened in the past?

I think we also need to accept that there are always going to be opposing sides to every idea or decision related to WvW, especially where our current Community is concerned. But if we can just work together as an actual Community, there's no reason why we can't all agree on a compromise that suits both parties in the end.

Ascended Amulet stats discrepancies

Any reason the First Spear's Icon has lower stats than other Amulets with 4 lines? And it's not just a wrong text, equipping it will only provide the 108 power instead of 133.

Candy Corn Gobbler needs an update.

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 07:52 AM PDT

Right now its too tedious to use because of both the long cooldown and RNG involved, also provides an advantage in WvW with %5 protection, passive health regen and %15 speed boost. And there is a noise problem. What i suggest:

1-) Remove the cooldown from the item completely, if the transforms are a problem remove the transforms. Instead of transforms you simply gain nothing.

2-) Remove the %5 Damage Reduction, Healthful Rejuvenation and %15 Speed Bonus in WvW, just like in SPvP it currently is.

3-) Noise generated from transformation part of the item can be very annoying, especially in large zergs with multiple people using it, please disable that one too.

4-) A consume all option to the item could be added, that will use all your inventory candy corn and give you boosts.

5-) If this item is eventually decided to be updated please don't nerf its other parts or it will become useless, it currently is a nice gold sink.

Gemstore idea: Mount stables in your home instance

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 03:55 AM PDT

And they do absolutely nothing except let you look at your mounts. 2400 gems.

But if you have cats in your home instance you can pick up the dead bird and feed it to your raptor for some floaty hearts.

Make the floating VB Airship Cargos easier to grab please.

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 07:33 AM PDT

Seriously I can't be the only one who struggles to get more than 10 of these during a meta. People have suggested flying over the top of them but this seems to only work 50% of the time. Also, forget trying to grab these with a Griffon.

Why do people dislike the Norn so much?

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 07:02 PM PDT

I've been reading around this sub recently as i'm a new player and i've read a lot about how the Norn as sort of hated within the community. Maybe not hated but just not as loved as the other races. I'd like some insight into this and as to why theyre not really liked as much as the other races.

Deadeye's Mark bug

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 10:05 AM PDT

Edit:From replies in this thread it appears that this is a UI bug. While less of a problem for DPS than Mark not working outright, the colour of Malice orbs should not change based on location and at least should be visible at all times.

Original post

Deadeye's Mark doesn't work on some bosses.

With Deadeye already in a very poor position in PvE, bringing low DPS that is reliant on stealth and having no viable might share option due to low personal DPS, low might share radius and cPS having unique boons, I am hoping that the upcoming balance patch on Tuesday addresses some of the issues with Deadeye.

So this is another to add to the list - some bosses and mobs are immune to Deadeye's Mark resulting in no Malice generation. Deadeye already has enough against it, it could do without bugs like this as well.

Customizable stat optimization / gear selection spread sheet

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 10:00 AM PDT

Hi reddit,

I've been using this for some time now and after taking the time to write some instructions for it I thought some others might be able to use it as well.

This is basically an excel sheet that selects gear for you. It might not be super useful when you run max damage gear that is already thoroughly tested and are happy with the stats. This spread sheet's prime advantage is that you can give it restraints - minimums for the defensive stats you want to have. So it will, for example, select the gear that results in 2,2k armor and 15k hp for your ele while putting every free stat not going into this restraint into effective power in the most efficient way.

I've been finding it super helpful for WvW, where you want some defense on certain builds and end up asking yourself how to get to these stats while loosing as little damage as possible.

Download link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dy1eqn66j2k4wuz/GW2_StatOptimizer_by_Silinsar.xlsx?dl=0

How to use it is described in the sheet, you'll need to get the solver plugin for this to work (https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Load-the-Solver-Add-in-in-Excel-612926fc-d53b-46b4-872c-e24772f078ca?ui=en-US&rs=en-001&ad=US)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Blurry text only in certain areas of the screen ever since the DPI scaling update (with scaling disabled)

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 07:25 AM PDT

Ever since the update that added DPI scaling as an option, I've started seeing some noticeable distortion in certain areas of the UI. This is without the DPI scaling option being enabled (I even disabled DPI scaling via compatibility options, and that didn't make a difference either).

The part that is really strange about this is that it only happens with menus that are in certain parts of the screen. The options menu, for example, looks blurry if the top of the menu intersects with roughly the top quarter of my screen. If I position it lower on the screen then everything suddenly becomes crystal clear.

Example image, the only difference between these two screens is dragging the options menu very slightly lower in the right image.

The text on the left is visibly fuzzy and harder to read compared to the right. You can also see some distorted lines above and below some options.

I've seen complaints related to blurry text when people are using the DPI scaling option option, but aside from a single comment in a weeks old weekly questions thread, I've not heard of anything like this. Has anyone experienced this, or does anyone have advice to avoid it?

Tips for my first legendary weapon

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 07:58 AM PDT

Heya everyone. I have been playing Guildwars for about 6 months now, and very much enjoy it. I love a lot of aspects of the game, including WvW and a little PvP but spend a majority of my time in open world and other PvE content.

The very first day I played the game, I came across a Thief(I also main a Thief) wielding a damn fine looking dagger. I messaged them and asked about it, and they told me it was the Incinerator. After a quick wiki search, and seeing how complex it was to acquire, I instantly wrote it off as never going to happen. Well now, I think I am ready to take on the challenge.

Now, there are many experienced players on this subreddit, and several of you have multiple legendaries and Incinerator itself. I want to ask you all for advice before I dive in to trying to acquire this dagger for myself. Primarily about acquiring the precursor, Spark, as that is going to be my first step I think.

For those of you who have mastered the art of legendary crafting, where is the best place to begin with this? Should I try and farm up the 600 ish gold to just buy it off the TP, or work my way through the collection? Is one particularly cheaper than the other? I truly know nothing about crafting a legendary. After recently acquiring a decent amount of ascended gear through raiding, I want to set my sights on another long term goal but am simply overwhelmed on where to begin and what the best approach is.

If anyone can talk with me directly about this for a little bit, or even just leave some small tips in the comments I would be very grateful. I don't want to start working on one part of Incinerator only to find there is a much more efficient way of going about it.

And for those who might suggest it, I really don't intend on buying gold to accomplish this... but if farming up the gold to just buy the Incinerator on the TP is a viable option, then I will take that into consideration.

Any and all advice regarding crafting a legendary, and the Incinerator specifically will be warmly welcomed. You can comment here, send a message to my inbox or mail/message me in game. My tag is notofroto.3987.

Thanks! :)

[Spoiler]Did he spared us?

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 02:10 AM PDT

Last night, i wanted to relax myself, by completing the PoF story on my fourth char (i know,i'm crazy) and this time, i actually paid attention to the details of the final fight with Balthy. After he dies, all that magic is absorbed, well not all of it, but mostly by him, then he just stood there for a moment...He had enough juice now,to send us to the kingdom come, but he was just like "meh, i'll be back".I know the EDs are forces of nature, not dragons like Skyrim, Dragon Age and so on, but still in their hunger, they seems have consciousness. Because in that moment, when Kralky was powered up, he could have killed us in a blink of an eye,but nope...He truly acted like Arnold : "I'll be back".

[PoF Spoilers]About Sylvari in PoF...

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 03:01 PM PDT

So we all know that during the PoF story that the Commander dies and goes to the Mists. But..don't Sylvari not go to the Mists, being Dragon minions? So...should the Sylvari versions of the Commander shouldn't go to the Mists when you fight Balthy on your own. I'm sure they'd still find a way to defy death and rise again to destroy Bathly later on, but they wouldn't know about our glorious Lord Joko's mighty army...

Or is Anet just going to say "Fuck it, Sylvari go to the Mists because they're free of Mordremoth...?

RI timer not showing on map or minimap

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 08:27 PM PDT

Good morning,

Protection timer(RI) is not showing on my minimap or map.

I have tried to change time/time settings in-game or PC.

It doesn't work on all my accounts (3 2 in EU 1 in NA).

I tried my brother's laptop copying the files I got and it showed. However, when I recopied the working files to my computer it didn't.

I have completely removed and re-installed the game and it didn't work.

Has anyone any ideas? D:

WvW needs more underwear content

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 08:16 PM PDT

I can't be the only person who likes to fight underwear. When PvP had the Capricorn map, I would love to fight for the underwear nodes. But PvP was the only place that forced you to do that. In the old WvW BLs, players would basically skip fighting underwear, and just swim away. Anet should consider bringing back this combat type, and change up the current metas to keep the game mode fresh. Put water back onto the center of the map, and have Bloodlust capping be all underwear. Force players to adapt their zero fights. It would make for interesting skirmishes.
