Why the hell nobody told me about this?!

Yes, I'm probably living under the stone, but THIS is IMO the best DLC poster!

Any ideas for the title?

EDIT: Image credit to cgfelker. Names Clinton Felker. Go visit his devianart and artstation. Lots of awesome art, even some more Destiny related pieces.

For the Public Event "Cabal Excavation" You need to stand in the objective circle until it hits 30. Only then will the ship spawn that you destroy to make it heroic

Posted: 12 Nov 2017 07:46 AM PST

Tired of seeing no one standing in the circle for a full minute until I come along and do it. This is one of the quickest heroic public events. Should not take longer than 2-3 minutes if done right.

Bungie you introduced us to an amazing weapon, let us go nuts with it.

Posted: 12 Nov 2017 06:24 AM PST

A long time ago in a dlc that saved us from the content drought of TTK, We were allowed to wield one of the most badass weapons I've ever seen.

The Iron Fucking Axe.

This absolute beast of a melee weapon was everything a melee weapon should be in Destiny. Large, dangerously powerful and on fire. I had countless hours of fun in patrol cleaving into captains and dregs like a molten rod to flash paper.

The four swings of the Axe not only felt smooth, strong and right but to top it all off, we had the Saladaddy Slam.

We would literally jump into a kneel, slamming the Axe into the ground and a roaring wave of fire would launch from us, burning everything in its path and launching anything that didn't die skyward.

What I am proposing is a new idea for a exotic melee. All swords in this game feel exactly the same and slightly boring with the exception of Crownsplitter and Quickfang.

As of right now in D2, we only have legendary melee weapons. As a nod to the old Trials of Osiris you gave us a exotic pulse rifle.

If we had the Iron Axe as something that we whip out off our backs anytime and go batshit crazy I could imagine a lot of us would feel the content drought less stale and have a fun incentive to use melee weapons again.

"Grenade" Launchers

If grenade launchers shot out grenades similar to the ones we throw, maybe they'd be more popular.

Bungie, Create More Dual Purpose Supers

Posted: 12 Nov 2017 06:18 AM PST

Take the Sentinel subclass for example. Not only can you become Void Captain America, but you can also place a Defender Bubble; how cool is that? If more subclasses had dual purpose Supers like this, it would give players more choice and also give us more to experiment with. My original thought going into this was surrounding the Dawnblade subclass. It appears to be the least favorite of the three Warlock subclasses and to bring it back to life, I would suggest bringing Fireborn (self-rez) back. The option to have an offensive or defensive Super is something I'd like to see more of. I haven't really thought about any of the other subclasses, so to those who read this, what're your thoughts?

Edit: So self-rez is not popular among the community. I always felt it made the Warlock very unique. People are saying that it was a way to cheese the raids, but thats because the raids themselves were bugged to begin with, not Fireborn. I think it would be more tactically useful now than ever considering the rez-token system in the raid (and probably going forward). Radiance was also amazing, but thats an offensive Super, not defensive. Also, Defender Bubble paired with a Warlock rift half way in and half way out is what I'm thinking to be useful. I welcome team mechanics like this, the Bubble does exactly what it should now, it defends.

The hidden meaning behind "Sacrifice", "Death", and what it means to be a Guardian, and how it explains what happened between Ghaul and the speaker.

Posted: 11 Nov 2017 11:27 PM PST

So first off, aside from one known Guardian, Shin Malphur, who knows their name, because they did not have to 'die' to become a Guardian, all Guardians have no clue who they were, or, have very little idea.

What if i told you this was deliberate, but perhaps not in the way most think. Osiris posed that it was possibly to instill a personality that would follow and aid the Traveler, for the promise of reward.

But what if it was to instill a personality that had nothing to lose? Typically, as guardians, with no ties to who we are, or rather, who we were. If you recall, that one Guardian to be has no home to return to, no one who knows him. He has nothing left to sacrifice but himself, and that's what makes him worthy of being a guardian.

In a sense, he's died, not a death of the body, but a death of the self. There is nothing to prove what he says but his own word:

"I'm writing this from memory - some mine, but not all. The facts won't sync with the reality, but they'll be close, and there's no one to say otherwise, so for all intents and purposes, this will be the history of a settlement we called Palamon and the horrors that followed an all too brief peace."

And this my fellow Guardians, is why Ghaul could never be given the gift. He saught to prove his worth, build his empire, rise from the ashes and establish himself as the one who should be the champion of the light, but by doing so, he could never receive it and be a Guardian.

And he realizes this, right when the Consul told him who he was, where he was from, and why he would do it. he knew why he wouldn't be chosen.

To be a Guardian, he couldn't be Ghaul. He couldn't be the emperor, and he most certainly could not enact the revenge he sought. He would have to give it all up, his personality and knowledge, his ambitions. In essence, he'd have to go from Ghaul to Gary.

What's the reasoning for fireteam size inconsistency and open world limitations?

Posted: 12 Nov 2017 05:00 AM PST

Fireteams: Why do we have different fireteam sizes for everything? I get why you want more than 3 or 4 for raids but why do exploration, PvP and strikes have to have different sizes? Its a little annoying tbh being in open world with 3, then wanting to do PvP and having to find one more, then wanting to go back to exploring or do strikes and having to ask one to leave.

Open world: Why is the possible number of people in instances so low and why are the instances relatively small size wise. Console limitations? Balance reasons?

Not really complaining, just wondering what the reasoning behind these is.

Take the explosion from Celestial Nighthawk and put it on the six shooter golden gun

Posted: 12 Nov 2017 08:54 AM PST

That plus some more time and damage would make six shooter viable in PvE at least for the ad clear potential. Also, why make explosive enemies a perk on an exotic that 90% of the time is going to be used for boss DPS?

And if you still wanted explosions, you could just go with that top tree and forgo the precision damage.

The raid, you, and Riskrunner.

Posted: 11 Nov 2017 10:41 PM PST

I know riskrunner is not exactly top of the meta currently, especially for dealing with the skulls for Calus, however, if you're unlucky enough to not have another meta weapon, or simply aren't that great with it, riskrunner is a viable substitute imo. I've tested this with titan pulse grenades, but I assume it should be the same for every other class. If you damage yourself with an arc grenade, it procs Arc Conductor, meaning you can hold down the trigger through the entire skull phase without needing to reload once. Useful for people who can't get a handle on keeping coldheart on target, or don't have anything else.

It makes no sense that some Crucible spawn locations are literally in a firefight lane

Posted: 12 Nov 2017 10:23 AM PST

There's been two updates to the spawn system thus far, yet I really don't notice anything different. I'm still routinely getting spawn killed, plagued by jank spawns, and yes, spawn killing my opponents. While I think the spawn system itself is still flawed (there's still instances where a series of terrible consecutive spawns flips the state of the game, as one example) I think the actual spawn locations are also to blame.

As far as I can recall, this is the case on most maps. The map where it sticks out the most is The Dead Cliffs. The spawn location to the side of Zone A is utter garbage. It seems that pretty much every spawn location in this area is visible from the other side of the map near Zone B. Since this lane is usually the center of a lot of firefights on this map, it really makes no sense why these spawns should be here.

Especially when there is a more secluded room behind Zone A that never gets used for spawning.

Is it me or is finding a fireteam for PC not as streamlined as bungie thinks it is?

Posted: 12 Nov 2017 11:29 AM PST

I love D2 and I think Bungie made an awesome job but some things need a bit extra TLC from Bungie. I think that one of those things is finding a semi-decent fireteam.

Not only skill is badly matched and oathbreaking barely penalized at all but I think that:

  1. Going to bungie's site/app;

  2. Selecting PC + Activity;

  3. Try to sift through all the free slots looking for someone who's in your server (EU/US);

  4. Send a message asking what's their battletag;

  5. Wait for reply;

  6. Going to battle.net and add them as a friend;

  7. Wait for them to accept;

  8. Invite to fireteam.

Is a bit too much work. Not to mention that even if I go to bungie's website, r/fireteams, Discord LFG and my Clan I sometimes can struggle to find someone to do content with.

I mean. It's a bit off putting if you can't easily find someone to play with.

We all want to feel like Legend & also be rewarded for our time/have a sense of progression - I think Killtracker Ghost laid the foundation

Posted: 12 Nov 2017 04:30 AM PST

This might be a better direction for mods thans our ghosts but I went with ghosts because I personally think the mod system is such a mess that tweaking would be a nightmare for Bungie and therefore unlikely to happen... anyways TL;DR at the bottom

The System/Progression

Basically I think there should be system or Ghost (exotic possibly) that tracks enemy kills by Race or I think even better would be by kills in insert Activity

The perks would be tiered similar to how our Clan Banners are, except the perks would unlock at X kills like above (I'm totally open to other variables beside kills but kills are a pretty good representation of time invested)

The Feeling Like Legend Part

So where the perks get interesting is that they geared towards End Game content and specifically Legend-able moments. What I mean is that an exotic Ghost from, say, Raid challenge loot would have ascending perks like "While members of your fireteam are down inside the Leviathan (or Nightfall no Trials) your damage is increased" and it could continue on with more defense/damage reduction, cooldowns, sprint speed.. all kinds of stuff.

What this would do is let players who invest a lot of time into D2 to have a higher chance of pulling off clutch saves. Epic wins when everything is going to hell around us is when we feel the most awesome, the most like Legend.

So people who put in a lot of time have a higher chance to be able to save the team from wipes, their progression is there to wear on their sleeves, it actually makes a difference, everyone is having a better end game experience and the buff is weak enough and situational enough that it doesn't alienate casual players.

Should have put this somewhere else but I think the perks should take A LOT of kills to unlock and the buff should be very SMALL but per player down. The buff at max should "make up" for like 1/5 person per person down, so as the last guardian standing you are as strong as 2 Guardians (that might even too much)

TL;DR

Ghost with tiered perks like Clan Banners focused on end game content by tracking kills in Activities (or on enemies idk) and giving players buffs that only happen when teammates go down, giving you a greater chance to be Legend and pull off an epic win and be rewared in those intense moments for the time you've put into the game

3 Man Gauntlet Challenge-Mode

Posted: 12 Nov 2017 04:06 AM PST

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdFlKMbpBUU&t=15s

Fireteam: Gladd: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvzXQPZEiwE Tfue:

First of all: What is Challenge Mode for Gauntlet? In order to complete the challenge for Gauntlet nobody is allowed to stay on a plate twice. That only takes place when the psion charges (the balls) are up/ready to pick up to get teleported. So that splits the encounter into 3 roles (in a 6man Team you have 2 Teams of 3). Plate: Stay on the plate to activate the rings inside for the runner. Psionduty: Killing the bubblepsion on each plate, which spawns after the runner jumps threw his ring. Runner: You pick up the bomb/psionic charge and tell the people outside which ring is red to make them able to turn the arrows green for you.

So in order to meet these requirements in a 3-man-Fireteam we came up with a strategy. The strategy requires 3 Golden-Gun-Hunters with ahamkaras spine gauntlets (these guarantee that the Tripmine-Grenade stays long enough in order to kill the bubble psion). For weapons we were using Better Devils, Valakadyn and Wardcliff Coil. At the same time nobody is allowed to die while running. How do we start it up? After we jumped on all plates to start the encounter we wwait for around 30 seconds in middle. Why are we doing this? for some reason no additional enemies spawn in if you leave the first set of adds alive for that kind of time. This gives us the time to clear out all the sides including the majors and everyone of us has time to get ready for his role.

Runner on Dog: Before he picks up the charge he throws a tripmine on the spawn of the bubble psion. After beeing teleported he waits on calling his symbol until the countdown (indicated by a sound) goes down. He grabs his charge and keeps going and meets the runner from cup at the next wall. He will call his ring (top/middle/bottom) out and then say inside, middle or outside. The reason behind this is that the runner from cup can not see which ring it is and in this way he knows which ring it is going to be, since runner from cup will grab the orb on sun and axes and the runner from dog will grab dog and cup. This is the ONLY way you can keep both runner alive.

Runner on Cup: This guy has the second hardest job. He has to throw a grenade from cup to sun which has to be very precise. In order to be able to do that we found a spot where you stand in and aim at a specific spot of the wall. After that nade toss and he grabs the charge he turns around 180° and runs counter clockwise. He will pick up the orb on sun and chalice. After the runner on dog passed his finish line the runner who started on cup keeps going for 2 more walls.

Plate: The guy on the plate has to turn every single set of arrows green. To be able to do that he is using a high rate of fire autorifle (in our case Valakadyn). If the runner calls top or bottom you just swipe over the other 2 with Valakadyn. If it is middle you put VERY QUICKLY 2 bullets into top and bottom arrow. The guy with this job has to turn 6 sets of arrows green.On the third plate (cup) this guy will use his tripmine to kill the bubble psion off spawn. On plate 4 and 5 the bubble psion will be killed by a melee since the first runner is already out so the second runner has way more time since he doesnt have to skip charges anymore. We rotated roles for each round since the guy on the plate cant be there again in order to beat challenge mode. We handled adds in the beginning of every round the same way and waited 30 seconds in before we started clearing them out. Once we completed 3 Rounds we all together ran the final round.

I had a kinda epic nearly fail finish... I hope you guys enjoyed! This was a very fun challenge to do.

Okay that's the worst (best) VO line yet

Posted: 11 Nov 2017 10:23 PM PST

I was dong a spire public event on Nessus, and Failsafe said her usual line with a completely different emphasis: "Another Vex construction project, their persistence is inSPIREing". I can't believe they had to spell that one out for me.

My old favorite was Devrim saying "I've detected another Cabal mining operation. Guardian, you know the drill".

I never played D1 so I just bought it. The PVP is...

Posted: 12 Nov 2017 12:18 PM PST

An absolute blast. The PVP feels like night and day compared to D2. I can't believe they decided to take away 6v6, lower the cooldowns on the ultimate, etc. Also, the aim assist doesn't seem to be near as drastic which is nice considering D2 pvp relies on your auto aim pulling you to another enemy.

Do you think they'll ever fix D2 to be more fast paced and 6v6? I can't ever see myself going back to D2 pvp until the services close down for D1.

How to easily do the "Coil Glitch" on Consoles

Posted: 11 Nov 2017 09:43 PM PST

Hey guys.

Me again.

I found out how to do the "Coil Glitch" pretty easily on Xbox and PS4. It isn't as fast or efficient as the PC method, but it works every time and it gives you about 10 extra rockets per Titan barricade.

What you'll need:

  • Titan w/ Rally Barricade
  • Wardcliff Coil (or any extended firing weapon "Fusion Rifles, Burst Weapons, etc.)

How to do it:

  1. Pop your Rally Barricade.
  2. Stand behind it.
  3. Hold down your "SPRINT" button.
  4. Fire a rocket, then rapidly press "CROUCH"

As a note, you don't have to spam the shit out of the crouch button using this method, but you do have to hit it pretty quickly.

Bungie has a lot on their plate right now. I'm sorry Bungie.

If the text tutorial didn't do it for you, or you want to see a 2 minute video tutorial with the glitch in action, check this out:

The Wardcliff rally barricade infinite ammo bug works with Merciless as well

Posted: 11 Nov 2017 09:55 PM PST

https://youtu.be/4U2XTXHSVmU Probably works with the other fusion rifles as well but Merciless is definitely the most fun.

Edit: For those having trouble pulling this off it's way less consistent than than with the Wardcliff, I doubt it's at all possible on console. I don't know Bungies macro policy so I won't recommend them but that's probably the easiest way, or rebinding a bunch of extra keys you can spam to control(scroll wheel might work well).

Too few Crucible Tokens ?

Posted: 12 Nov 2017 12:38 PM PST

Am I the only one who thinks 1-2 tokens per game, regardless of win or loss or if you are top or bot on the scoreboard is way too little when you need 20 for an engram?

Currently trying to get Better Devils but grinding the Crucible isnt very motivating when I have to do 10+ games for 1 engram.

Imo they should either up the reward to 1-3 per loss, 4-5 per win or lower the required amount from 20 to 10-15.
