I'm sick of the memes here, I want the discussion posts!try http://nr.reddit.com/r/pokemongo for desktop users or this for mobile/app users. Use this link. However, Niantic seems to be preoccupied with other things now, so don't expect too much. We have Niantic representatives on both here and /r/TheSilphRoad - please do not ping them for bugs which are in the known issues page unless you have found a niche yet gamebreaking issue/exploit. Posted: 03 Aug 2017 02:55 PM PDT Niantic obviously has had its share of problems. But the biggest problem (from my perspective as a professional game-maker) is one that they are 100% creating for themselves. That problem is inflation. The idea behind inflation is basically this: If I gave everyone in the world one million dollars (or a handful of Tyranitars/Lugias), then the value of one million dollars (or a handful of Tyranitars/Lugias) would immediately be zero. Until this summer, it took work to find, walk, or hatch high-powered pokemon. Now, thanks to raids, my account is overflowing with legendaries and top-tier mons. The mons I spent time building up before this summer are now not even close to my best ones. Until this summer it took work to get enough candy (by walking, catching, or hatching) to power up my favorite mons. Now, thanks to rare candy, I have enough candy to power up anything I want. Until this summer, it took work to get coins (by strategically attacking and defending gyms). Now, thanks to an absolutely ridiculous decay rate, any level 10 player can take down a gym and collect 50 coins a day with ease. The only frontier of effort left is in Stardust. When I design board games, I try to create interesting strategic decisions for players. Having a limited amount of Stardust forces players to pick which handful of mons they want to power up. They can choose to power mons up based on their IVs, their defensive/offensive skills, the ones that are their "favorites" for whatever reason, etc. But if Niantic does with Stardust what it has done with mons, candy, and coins, there will be no decisions left because trainers will be able to power up anything they want. We as trainers are a very "give me this, give me that!" community. We whine for more candy, more mons, easier catch rates for the best mons in the game (legendaries), and more coins. And now we're whining for more Stardust. But if Niantic gives in on this (which I'm sure they will, given their track record of ignoring basic economics), I predict that players will get very bored very quickly. Everything will have been given to us, every account will be relatively equal, and nothing will take effort. Large increases in Stardust will push an already bloated/inflated game over the edge into meaningless, unlimited, powered-up mons in every account. FYI, my board game company has raised over half a million dollars on Kickstarter. Not saying that to brag, just to show that I know what I'm talking about and that I think about game theory, game strategies, game incentives for a living. [link] [comments]

[Idea] Give L30+ players Max Revives from raids and L29- players regular revives Posted: 03 Aug 2017 10:41 AM PDT After all, if they can do it at stops, they can do it at raids! And every player I know complains about throwing away their revive reward from raids... [link] [comments]

[Complaint] I have never played a game this unoptimized before. Posted: 03 Aug 2017 03:36 AM PDT I've played many PC games, even early acces games, many mobile games etc. but Pokemon Go is by far the most unoptimized I've played so far. Constant Game crashes, raid battles are UNPLAYABLE due to broken dodging, server lags, game crashes, bugs and more. I don't get how this isn't the #1 Priority of Niantic, the Stability of the game is literally a joke... Also I play on a Galaxy S7 Edge since that question has been asked pretty often. For young players, from a young player Posted: 03 Aug 2017 04:42 AM PDT I am a 14 year old Level 24 trainer from Lithuania. I live just outside the capital, but sadly I do not have any Pokestops or Gyms near me. When I go to the city, I use the chance to get some Pokeballs and some better Pokemon. When the raids came out, I got very excited. I have solo raided a level 1 raid immediatly (caught the Pokemon). I also tried to do a level 2 raid 2 times by myself, but it was not succesful. I did not understand how to find a group for raids. I decided to give Discord a go. I have found a 300 people group for the capital city, which I did not expect. I patiently waited for the next time I could go to the city center and it happened today. I found out, that there was a group doing a Moltres raid near me, so I decided to go there. I ran. After running quite a bit, I saw people staring at their phones. They were all about 30 year old. I did not expect that, so I got quite shy. I stood near them and waited for the raid to begin... 5 minutes later, I found out, that they already raided... I got quite sad - I wasted my raid pass. I started walking back to my parents, spun the gym and got a new raid pass. Suddenly, I got excited again. I saw another Moltres raid in the distance! I asked the people on discord if they would go there. I got responded with 7 people saying yes. I ran there as quickly as possible. I saw people on their phones again. I thought that they already started it and got frusturated. I waited just in case there would be new people coming. And it turns out, it was the group from the last raid which was doing this one. They already completed it. The 7 people came near the gym. They were all older again, one couple was about 40 years old. 3 people were about 20. I felt more confident this time. The people were really nice. We started the raid. I was the weakest trainer, so I had to rejoin once. We have succesfully beat it. The hard part was the catching. My game decided to freeze twice, but luckly I managed to restart the app and still got the chance to catch it. It was a hard battle, but sadly I did not catch it, just like everyone in the group. I was not the person who would make conversations in the group or would be the best player, but it was still fun. I did get a bit of "weird" looks from the group cause of my age, but it was not like they did not like me. So young people! I was not comfortable doing that at first, but when you actually try it, its not that bad. So go raiding and be confident! [link] [comments]
[IDEA] New berry to double stardust on catches: Sitrus Posted: 03 Aug 2017 06:48 AM PDT I propose the introduction of the Sitrus berry. It would double the stardust of a catch, changing the amount of stardust received with level of evolution. This berry should have lower acquisition rates than the Pinap, and should not be sold in the shop. Thoughts? Would this be too game breaking, or not game altering enough with the current stardust drought? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Aug 2017 07:54 PM PDT I've done some cool stuff in my day. I backpacked China for a while. I was once elected to my hometown's city council. I even held a Guinness world record for a short time. This left them all in the dust. I'm one of the people that is out raiding almost every day. I like to coordinate, make sure everyone gets there, and will make everyone back out of the raid if someone shows up late. I keep the discord details on me at all times to invite new random players who show up. I'm organizing a party bus to drive around and catch Zapdos all day next Saturday. Because I love this game and want everyone to enjoy it as much as me. Today, less than a dozen of the several hundred (I think about 700) players on our discord had their names suddenly turned orange. Later, the admin announced that they were recognized as Gym Leaders for the dedication to keeping everyone happy and organized. I was one of them. I only joined recently, the day regular raids started, but this group has been around since almost the launch of the game itself. In that time, I've become known to a lot of the local players. They recognize my car when I pull up, they tag me for any raids around my area, and they trust the answers I have to their questions. In some ways, my life has been in a rut lately. I'm not miserable but I'm semi-without direction. A terrible relationship that ended, being forced to resign, and some other nonsenses have clouded me. But this game has given me purpose, given me something to focus on, and given me an opportunity to help make people happy. It's not world changing stuff, but I think it's also bigger than a lot of people give it credit for. Thanks for reading and I encourage each and every one of you to strive to be the very best like no one ever was. [link] [comments]

Anyone else getting constant error messages from fighting gyms? Posted: 03 Aug 2017 10:30 AM PDT Trying to take down my local gym but I'm constantly getting stopped in my tracks after a few seconds Edit: at first I was just getting network error, but the weird thing is that before I tried taking down the gym, I fought the magmar raid and had no trouble whatsoever. Edit 2: walked over to the next closest gym and had no trouble whatsoever. I am totally confused... [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Aug 2017 04:08 PM PDT With the new gym system, we don't have to worry about putting high CP Pokemon in gyms anymore, so we did this: I hope you enjoy the results as much as we enjoyed making them! [link] [comments] |
