Posted: 03 Aug 2017 05:59 PM PDT So I played a couple bot games etc got the feel for the game.. I'm an ex really experienced dota 1 player so I figured I could just hop right into it. Leavers... I don't know if it's because I'm level 1 or what but every game I played had about 2 or 3 leavers. Point and click abilities... I find after you click your ability on an enemy and spamming it. It targets them, and takes forever to target back on yourself to see your cooldowns, hp/mana etc. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Aug 2017 07:29 AM PDT I noticed in many pro games the players would use their ultimates to kill one hero. I've read in a different post, that they do this to guarantee the victims death. My question is, Should I be using my ultimate for solo kill (after smoke or something) with of without my team? EDIT: I see lots of SK use their ults early game [link] [comments] |

Is it just me or does it feel like people are just throwing away buybacks this Group Stage? Posted: 03 Aug 2017 07:12 PM PDT Has this always been the case? I feel like I see more buybacks just to win fights this TI more than others even when the fights aren't necessarily game ending. [link] [comments] |
~100 mmr, still getting abused by people with 1/2/3/4k hours in dota - why? Posted: 03 Aug 2017 06:59 PM PDT As the title suggests - with ~300 hours played we play in party of 2 vs people who know what they're doing (all 5 of them), how is that possible? Doesn't the matchmaking system take hours played into consideration? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Aug 2017 06:30 PM PDT Why do people in competitive Dota pick venom as carry? like EG always does with arteezy? I think that venom as main carry is not strong enough to carry a team. Can anyone tell me the reasoning behind the venom pick? [link] [comments] |
What is the point for 4th pick brood in lgd liquid game 1 Posted: 03 Aug 2017 06:20 PM PDT I mean, lgd already has AA (counters brood ult), sven and qop. And after lgd sees brood, they pick axe. So what was the point of that? They sure cant push with spiders, brood is a bad mid vs qop axe and sven (unless she goes no spider build). So all matumba did is just farm jungle and some fight at the end, 9k hero damage, 1.2k tower damage. Am I missing something? game id 3354210396 I'm a brood spammer myself (playing vhs in unranked), and LGD draft is a straight loose for brood imo. [link] [comments] |
Liquid VS LGD Game 2 [TI7 Group Stage possible Spoilers] Posted: 03 Aug 2017 06:05 PM PDT Can someone clarify what exactly lead to LGD getting wrecked so hard? It seems to me what happened was LGD really couldn't shutdown the Ember because IO was sitting behind him the whole laning stage and Kuro's SB was just creating pressure everywhere. Axe beat Lycan in lane and Void got freefarm vs a phoenix Offlane. I expected LGD to do way more but they just couldn't. Seems like Liquid just completely outplayed LGD but that can't be it considering how well they have been doing so far. [link] [comments] |
Are some players just born to be better than others? Posted: 03 Aug 2017 06:00 PM PDT Might seem like a silly question but i have a friend that only has 4000 hours on dota (all accounts total) and is 6k mmr, i also have another friend with 3.5k as a 3.5k mmr. And then theres me. 1000 hours and 1.4k mmr. What am i doing wrong? Are people like me never gonna get above 4k no matter how many hours i dump into this game? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Aug 2017 08:13 AM PDT I've been playing LoL for the last 6 years as a jungle main and have been thinking about transitioning into DOTA2 and am having issues finding a good starting resource. I've got the basic MOBA mechanics down, but don't know the game itself. A lot of the guides I've been seeing are either just "Play the tutorials" or are dense tomes that seem overloaded for beginning. Now, from my understanding of DOTA the jungle role doesn't exist in the same sense as it does in LoL, so I was thinking of starting as a supp main. Are there any good resources for getting into the mindset of a support with basic item timings, warding locations, mindset and basic gameplay advice out there? Edit: Also recommendations of good starting supports. Edit2: Found the useful links section, but any advice would still be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Brewmaster : no Drunken Brawler before level 3 or 4 ? Posted: 03 Aug 2017 11:48 AM PDT So OG picked Brewmaster twice against Newbee, first game Brew went 1-1-1 then Clap, second game 2-1-1 then Clap, both times with Haze at level 1. I thought it was generally accepted that Drunken Brawler is best at level 1 since you get some sorta-reliable evasion and more importantly, easy last-hits with the guaranteed crits. Why would he go with Haze at level 1 ? It's not like he can afford to spam it for long, sure it'd be annoying for a short while but I'm not super convinced. I didn't watch that game that much but I don't remember him using said Haze a lot during the early levels actually, which confuses me more. Am I missing something or is it actually a mistake ? (I saw at least one mistake in his early fights, he was low health when he ultied and he didn't think to retreat with Earth when ult was about to expire, so he got promptly killed right at the end of said ult) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Aug 2017 05:13 PM PDT Often now during TI and previous pro games I have seen players push a lane and clear it except for the range creep. The casters also point out that this is a good/smart thing. My question is why. I can't see the logic. It gives the most gold and XP, it is the squishiest one so you can kill it quick, especially with the rest of the creep wave attacking it. So why leave it? [link] [comments] |
Is double melee support viable? Posted: 03 Aug 2017 11:28 AM PDT I've always liked picking melee supports, but I always refrain from picking them if I'm solo supporting because I feel like I need a ranged support in order to deward high ground, and harass in lane. I've been watching EG and some other teams play, and they don't seem to care about picking two melee supports. Is it wrong that I think two melee supports is bad? [link] [comments] |
What to do best for gold/xp when lvl 7+ Posted: 03 Aug 2017 10:49 AM PDT Hey there, I started to play a few days ago and it works ok so far, but still learning a lot. I watched some tutorials and lets say around lvl 1-5 I think I do okay. I get xp, get gold, make the others get no gold, buy some stuff... around lvl 5 I often manage to get one of the first kills or help with it... playing not too agressive... and then around lvl9... I get the issue, that I don't get enough gold anymore, because I'm running around helping my team to hunt people or do some other running around... and if then some of my teammates die... the enemies are all lvl 11 and we are all lvl9 and the downward spiral begins to start. Usually a game ends with me lvl 15, all enemy lvl 25, my teammates around 19/20. How do I break this circle? Is it ok to just continue to lane when there is fighting everywhere? So that I lvl up and be prepared when they start to attack me? If I lack gold... to go into the jungle a little and then back to the line? Or should I just get better at PVP and do kills for money and xp? Thaanks upfront :D [link] [comments] |
Can someone explain safelane Timbersaw to me? Posted: 03 Aug 2017 10:46 AM PDT I've seen this a few times in pro games, most recently from DC in their current game against iG. Having trouble understanding the purpose of this, as Timber has basically no right-click throughout the game and is known more as a tank than a "carry." Is the strategy here basically to run safelane as an offlane, and commit more resources to offlane or roaming? Or can Timber actually be more of a traditional carry for reasons I just don't get? edit: Or is it situational if they see a likely enemy offlane matchup they like? (In this case it was safelane timber vs. offlane Tidehunter, and Timber seemed to win the lane pretty hard). [link] [comments] |

Who doesn't require high mechanical skill to play? Posted: 03 Aug 2017 03:50 AM PDT I use to play a lot of techies because killing people with mines is nearly effortless and does require combining multiple spells and clicking rapidly, but I personally dislike blast off and proximity mines. Who else doesn't take high apm/accuracy? [link] [comments] |
What can I do to ensure English speaking players are in my game? Posted: 03 Aug 2017 02:41 PM PDT I thought Valve fixed this shit, yet my last game, ALL nine players were Peruvian. All fucking nine of them. I can't communicate with my team, at all. Is it possible Peruvians are more likely to play All Pick? Should I stick to Random Draft or Captains Draft if I want to avoid them? [link] [comments] |

I am 1k for more than 2 years with no hopes of climbing. How did you climb out? Posted: 03 Aug 2017 09:40 AM PDT I am 1k for too long and i don't want to stay here. My 3k and 4k friends offered to boost me for moths now, if not a year but i refused untill a few days ago when i played for one of said friends' house and he told me to leave the account on for him to boost me. Because i don't even care how i leave 1k anymore i let him but now he said that 1k game are too hard and he can't carry me. He said he gets a headache after evey game. So my question is how do i fucking leave 1k? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Aug 2017 09:18 AM PDT Do you guys have any tips on how to properly offlane as Techies? Often I find it really challenging to solo offlane against guys like AM + Ogre or something. I can't last hit or deny because my damage is too low (Even with QB or Null it's challenging), and the opposing laner just denies everything and gets every last hit. I try to pressure with Prox mines, but the enemy can just farm them off if they stay alert. I usually buy either Null + Tangoes, or alternatively something else like ward + fairy + tango + mango + stat items What should I do? Should Techies even solo offlane? [link] [comments] |
