I just experienced a Nova intentionally dying all game to "end this quick". When confronted about it, his reply was "Blizzard never bans anyone anyway lol", and the worst part is that he's completely right.

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 01:08 AM PDT

I reported him several times after the match, and asked the team to do it as well, but it's no point. A silence isn't a punishment for feeding, and that's if he even gets a silence. I've just about had enough of this game now. 1/2 matches include someone gg'ing after 5 minutes, toxic chat, or feeding.

2.0 ruined this game, Blizzard's inability to deal with feeders and toxic players, and their refusal to talk to the community about this issue, is really unprofessional for a company that usually keep the quality of their games so high.

Sorry, had to get it off my chest.

I miss Master Skins, but not in the "I earned this!" way, but more of an upgraded form of the OG skin sort of way.

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 04:27 PM PDT

Does anyone feel this way? I know the biggest argument for Master Skins being removed is "WELL NOW HOW AM I GOING TO SHOW OFF MY DEDICATION?"

Me though? I just missed how some of them looked like a more badass version of the stock skin. I know a lot of the community weren't fans of them, but deep down in my little heart, I sort of wished Stukov had a master skin with more facial hair, and a wee-bit more infestation.

New HGC Caster Skimmy Appreciation Thread

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 12:56 PM PDT

As a person who does not know too much about casting or casters from other platforms or games, i just want to give my personal appreciation for the new face in the commentator scene for the Western Clash.

I feel like it's a fresh addition to the team, and i really like his knowledge and how he even manages to put in small jokes and wordplays, while keeping informative and easy to understand.

Keep up the good work Casters and players, Western Clash has been a joy to watch.

My own team prevented me from ending the match on Hanamura. Check this BS out... Seriously

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 01:24 PM PDT

First things first, I'm not a fan of Hanamura. So when I saw that this was the map chosen by the RNG gods, I facepalmed almost immediately and retreated to my den to pour a glass of whiskey, bracing myself for what was sure to be a shit storm.

In a way it kind of was. I think I've got about a 40 somethin percent w/r on this map so lo and behold when our team started rofl stomping the enemy, I was quite content to take a quick win and Ready Up for another round. Until my team had other ideas...

I had the misfortune of getting matched up with a Stitches, a Sonya, a Sylvanas and a Tassadar on my team (I was KT, like it matters). All the forts and keeps on the enemy team had been pushed, there were 2 shots left on the enemy core and one payload would have provided 3 shots. We camped them in their base to the point where they would only poke at us with damage to keep from getting booted from the game. At this point we're like 20min into the match and I've about had enough of the "fun" so I decide to go push a payload. I'm getting ping after ping after ping on my hero as the Tass tells me to wait cuz "We're having fun."

I'm not listening, I'm done with this match at this point. Well it turns out that it's not so easy to push a payload when your own Tassadar is using his Force Wall to keep you from pushing any farther. It's really not easy when your Stitches pulls you with his Helping Hand and then Sonya follows it up with an effing Crater Leap right on top of you.... This happened on every CD they had available.

32min match because my own freaking team didn't want to end. With little to absolutely no resistance from the enemy. I don't even know if I have a right to be upset, they were coordinated AF when it came to corralling me.

Look, I'm just an average player trying to have a good time playing a game that I enjoy. I don't have much constructive criticism to offer on this map, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out that it needs some kind of work if not a complete overhaul. Haunted Mines was taken off the rotation for like a solid year, idc what it takes or how long it takes but I know this map needs the same kind of treatment.

Just thought I'd share an experience since I've never really had the "camping treatment" before.

listening to the audio of the game while you are loading back into it is torture

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 08:07 AM PDT

Last night I was a in HL game, a super fun one, very close, both teams just hit 20 and we have one of their keeps down. I dare say I was playing amazingly, but of course my game crashes. I quickly shut everything down and got back in as fast I could hoping that the game wouldn't be over.

While loading back in, with the relatively recent changes you don't SEE what is happening, just the loading bar, but you still HEAR... and my oh my lanta is it ever hard to listen to. Knowing that the AI in your place is probably the reason for all the devastating deep gong hits you hear as you team dies, frantic retreat and defense pings, and then finally, the core being destroyed...fml.

The League of Legends Tribunal, WAS effective

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 02:33 PM PDT

I see talk here of the LoL tribunal. As someone who used it a lot, loved it, and saw the difference in League pre and post tribunal era I will say that it was very effective.

Played league since beta and recently switched to Heroes. Love Heroes, would tell anyone it's far away better than LoL. That said, WOW the community. I thought League was bad but Heroes is next level. I see many similarities between LoL's early days and Heroes. And many other problems that simply never existed in League.

But that aside, Blizzard needs to do something. Allowing the current system to continue the community will only devolve more and more. I saw some people suggesting the tribunal, and I have to say the responses shocked me.

The tribunal was an excellent system, it was incredibly effective too. It is on hiatus now, but it was not scrapped. It was taken away for maintenance and upgrades. (I'm sure it was not perfect)

I thought I'd repost some stats shared by Riot about the Tribunal's effectiveness and wonder what you guys think if Blizzard saw similar numbers for HOTS

On Friday, May 25, 2012, 3:55, Riot released the following Tribunal metrics:

  • More than 47 million votes have been cast in the Tribunal.
  • 51% of Tribunal cases result in a guilty verdict, with only 5.7% earning a permanent ban.
  • 74% of players warned by the Tribunal just once never end up there again.
  • Over 700 individual cases were personally reviewed by Lyte and Pendragon.

On December 21, 2011, Riot released the following Tribunal metrics:

  • 1.4% of all players have been punished by the Tribunal.
  • Over 50% of all punished players never re-offend.
  • 94% of players who receive enough reports to face the tribunal are punished by their peers.
  • Average player reports for the average one-time offender: 11
  • Number of player reports accrued by the average repeat offender: 70
  • Offenders lose games: 24% of offenders are on the winning team. 76% of offenders are on the losing team.
  • Offenders make bad teammates: 71% of offenders are reported by their own team. 29% of offenders are reported by the enemy team.
  • Over 16,000,000 total votes have been submitted.
  • Over 80,000,000 influence points has been rewarded to voters.

Image Blizz saw similar results for HOTS? People might actually have a bit of fear that their behaviour would be judged. Or be less quick to rage and flame others if they believed a jury of their peers would be judging them. (Or saying in chat "I'm going to feed then" and suiciding repeatedly spiking their death counter.)

On top of that the mechanics for the Tribunal were very good! Honestly you would be surprised at how much info you could glean from what they gave you. It was generally very easy to spot people who were toxic over and over (as you'd see multiple games they were reported on) vs someone who maybe just had a bad day, or was playing with a frustrating team and lost his cool.

I myself was once punished by the Tribunal, and was given a week ban. Honestly it pissed me off, and going forward I was so mindful of how I acted. Completely changed my way of playing.

I think the tribunal is a great idea, and if you'd like to read more on the mechanics this wiki has more info. I would love if Blizzard implemented something similar.

Also an underrated part of it? It was fun as hell! In my downtime I'd go on my phone or computer, read some cases. There was a subreddit dedicated to it, and you'd get some really funny ones sometimes.

Edit: A lot of people seem to be confused about this post and what the tribunal actually is. I'm not talking about a system where 10 people report you for playing Murky, and you get banned. The tribunal was simply a tool for Riot. With so many games it's impossible to effectively police them all. So using the tribunal they can sift through games, and have only the bannable ones forwarded to mods who will review the cases. In some EXTREME cases the top brass of Riot were the ones reviewing the bans like Pendragon. So, please stop bringing up these ridiculous scenarios where someone could get reported by annoying teammates and get banned. They would only be banned if a mod deemed they were breaking game rules.

Why rehgar cannot use Ancestral Healing himself?

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 04:43 AM PDT

I know why he got nerfed his Ancestral Healing a long time ago.

Because developer said " I don't like Rehgar just fight"

But now I think the situation has changed.

For example, Kharazim can uses Divine Palm to do everything he can. Also Kharazim fights close like rehgar.

Uther is also can use his ultimate himself.

And Nowaday, there are some Healing Reduction skill(like Malthael's Touch of Death) in game. This mean, can counter rehgar's Ancestral Healing.

Why he is not blessed by his ancestors? haha

Also I want to see his strong battle ability.

It's been months since 2.0, how do we feel now about Mastery Taunts with the removal of Master Skins?

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 03:20 AM PDT

I was a huge advocate against the removal of Master Skins during the 2.0 beta and I remember when Mastery Taunts were announced everyone thought it was an april fool's joke.

After time has passed I must confess that I do not miss master skins as I do enjoy the liberty of changing up skins now and then.

However I do not like the current mastery system and I feel mastery taunts are still a poor attempt to replace them. We need more done to the mastery system as it provided a lot of incentive to play higher level heroes which I barely feel now.

Not to mention that Mastery Taunts are completely flawed as some heroes can barely make good use of them while others have much easier use of them.

For example. Medivh can safely use his taunt in bird form above the enemy team without risking himself, and Murky can worry less about risking himself and can taunt much more carelessly.

On the other hand heroes like Abathur can rarely make any good use of it and heroes like Gall can just straight up not use it.

Blizzard has said (sorry can't find the link) that they like that showing the mastery skin is a voluntary thing and not a passive thing and that it should stay in a state that you need to click a button in order to show it. But that still does not warrant any risk factor for this pathetic 'reward' in my humble opinion.

Booty Coffers Brawl Info is Wrong

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 08:35 AM PDT

It states in the additional info that if a team pays 100 coins, the other team can still win before Blackheart destroys the core. However, paying Blackheart the 100th coin freezes everyone in place as a giant one hit core kill bomb is fired, ending the match. What gives?

No Cheer for Nomia or Red Canids at the Western Clash, why?

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 03:34 AM PDT

Neither Nomia or Red Canids have a cheer button for the new feature on the HGC twitch streams, why is this? Really disappointing and unfair to these teams for their chance at getting a little extra cash and allowing the HotS community to show their support for them.

Also, I'd like to note that the minor regions don't get the 100k team salaries either like the rest of the regions.

Who Did Zul'Jins Voice Acting?

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 12:54 PM PDT

The guy really outdid himself. I love how he sounds both Jamaican/West African with the Tony Montana vibe it doesn't feel wrong.

Also, what is Zul'jin actually saying when he goes [paraphrase]:

Da Amani de chukka!

? It sounds cool, I wonder what he's actually saying because I feel like I got it wrong.

Anyway, just wanna give this guy props for helping to make one of my favourite heroes in the game.

Also the Butcher actor. Dunno how he did those guttural laughs but they sound awesome.

Needless to say, we got roflstomped. Why did I have to play with people not even close to my MMR to rank up? Also the queue for this game was almost instant, which was odd because it usually takes 1-2 minutes minimum.

Has anyone else seen this in their promo games?

Suggestion: Hero UI skins

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 04:40 AM PDT

One of my favorite aspect of this game is the variations every hero have. How different each hero feels. And to make it even more hero specific immersive, would it be possible to have different UI skins. Kind of like how SC have different UI skins for Protos, terrans and zergs.

What do you think?
