As a Champion 30 in FFA, I was matched into one lobby of all Golds and another lobby of all unranked players. A few players from the lobby were asking me how I matched against them.

Just wanted to say I think halo 5 has the most amazing sandbox of weapons and I hope halo 6 is just as good.

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 01:57 AM PDT

I mean the base level weapons, but the warzone ones are mostly good too. I have so much fun in BTB picking up literally every gun, except maybe the boltshot. The hydra, plasma pistol, missle pod, dmr with different scopes, storm rifle, smg, are all so much fun and have their own use. ESPECIALLY the hunters grasp. I wreck with that thing on Valhalla.

I think its all done much better than previous halos. I never played halo 1, and I heard it had a unique way of balancing weapons, but halo 5s is superb.

Halo 6 NEEDS an increased TTK.

Either that or just make the weapons less overpowered. There is nothing less frustrating than getting killed right away without a proper gunfight.

I feel like Blitz was an incorrect way of responding to people who wanted only action and no base building in Halo Wars.

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 10:12 AM PDT

Before the downvotes start flooding for me being a "casual" let me say that the base building aspect of Halo Wars is a huge part of the appeal of it. It's very satisfying to get bases and upgrades set up as quickly as possible for me.

Blitz was announced as a response to people saying they didn't like the base building in Halo Wars and just wanted the action of units fighting eachother. Whether or not Blitz was actually created for that or as a microtransaction ploy is up to you but I still feel like this complaint should be adressed, as it could actually be a fun mode if done properly.

Honestly Blitz feels unnecessarily developed, what I feel should've been created as a mode to appeal to those only wanting the action of Halo Wars is something that allows you to spawn in units like a Tower Defense game.

Start with a base amount of points which only gives you access to a few weak units or one semi strong unit. Points are earned by attacking the enemy and keeping units alive and differ on value. Weaker units earn more points per second than stronger units, giving players an incentive to keep stronger units in reserve, use weaker units more, and getting to the stronger units more quickly at the start of the match.

The objective would be to take control points along the map and ultimately take control of the enemy player's HQ. These wouldn't be bases to build but merely points to spawn units so the strategy of controlling base points from the core multiplayer carries over to this mode.

Your favorite drop dead gorgeous moments in Halo?

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 11:13 AM PDT

Halo is filled with beautiful moments, whether it be when you first land on Halo in CE or the vast landscapes of Sanghelios in Halo 5. What are your favorite moments?

My favorite has to be the gondola ride on Sacred Icon in Halo 2, the music and breathtaking visuals make for a great chilling moment with lots of atmosphere.

Why Halo CE on MCC is fundamentally broken.

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 07:14 PM PDT

So a lot of people on r/halo and in the community in general seem to hold the idea that the CE pistol was OP. Which is horrendously false. Well if you played the MCC version of CE then that is absolutely true.

You see the original pistol wasn't OP because like everything in CE it was hard to use. Allowing for other tactics besides spam RT. In MCC you can spam RT and kill the opponent easily. In the original if you spammed RT you were going to die. Mainly because the CE pistol didn't have aim assist!

Now aim assist is a tricky subject because not a lot of people know what exactly it is. It is a term describing a wide variety of aim assisting designs.

According to halopedia.com these designs are as follows:

Magnetism defines and outlines how far a bullet will "bend" in order to hit an enemy. Bullets and projectiles do not necessarily travel in a straight path; they will curve very slightly in order to hit a target. Different projectiles will experience different curvatures.

Snapping reorients the gun barrels toward enemies whenever a player's reticle are in proximity to their target.

Acceleration makes it so that when the player pegs their aiming stick in one direction the player's reticle will start moving slowly in that direction then pick up speed.

Friction slows the player's turn rate as soon as their reticule passes over an enemy. What it does is that it slows the player's top speed, and then dramatically decrease the rate at which the crosshair will slow down when the player release the stick.

The MCC version also has hit scan which causes more issues.

The original CE had the last two as do most fps even hardcore PC shooters.

The problem is that it is not a good idea to add hitscan, magnetism, and snapping to a 3 shot headshot capable starting weapon that no longer loses accuracy when spammed. The TTK of Halo CE simply cannot support the damage the average player can produce. It destroys the entire experience of the game.

A lot of people think the new halo games are too cod esque and I agree to a fairly large extent but the MCC version of Halo is quite literally COD. You run around like a chicken with your head cutoff trying to get kills when CE is such much more than that.

However 343 will never fix this as the CE port was made by another company and I doubt that 343 is willing to re do the port just to support the tiny minuscule group of us that enjoy Halo CE. Heck I doubt a response.

Why does the back case of every Halo game say 2-4 local co-op on one console, when this is clearly not true?

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 09:42 PM PDT

I'd like to preface this by saying I am not in any way new to halo, or the fact that co-op campaign only supports 2 players locally, nor am I really butt-hurt about it, just curious as to why the cases of many Halo games seem to not accurately reflect their local capabilities.

All the Halo games I own (Save Halo 5), prominently state that locally, on a single console, that co-op for up to 4 players is available. However, none of these games have a local, single console based co-op for 3 or 4 players. While I understand that PVP is still an option for up to four players, that is by definition, not cooperative play.

Take Halo: Reach for example. It shows that under the green (local/offline Xbox category) that there is co-op for 2-4 players. Except, there is no cooperative play mode that allows split-screen for more than 2 players, in neither the campaign nor firefight. Now, I also understand that this is most likely because system link is technically local play. Except that system link is listed as a separate option, on the back of the case, it seems misleading.

This problem even persists in games that are not as old as Reach. On the back of the MCC case for Xbox One (A console that to my awareness does not have system link), shows that 2-4 player co-op listed among the features for the game being played on a single Xbox one. However, to my knowledge, the MCC does not have a co-op mode that allows more than 2 players. It has a competitive mode for 2-4 players, but again. This is by definition, not cooperative play.

Why is this? Did it start as some marketing trick to sell system link that just stuck around? Is it just flat out lying? Some poor sod at Microsoft who doesn't know what the term cooperative means? Am I just a poor sod who can't tell what cooperative means? Any form of answer or speculation is appreciated.

Anyone know the source of the Shotgun firing sound effect?

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 09:35 PM PDT

I've heard it used in other games and media entirely unrelated to Halo so I assume that it's part of a fairly common sound pack and I'd love to know where it comes from.
