Guide to efficiently powerlevel a character to Enchanting 50 when you already have access to one master Enchanter

Posted: 03 Aug 2017 11:06 AM PDT

My goal:

My first Level 50 Enchanter was a very long, expensive grind. It didn't need to be.

I wanted to efficiently and quickly powerlevel Master Enchanter on my alts, to increase chances of dropping Master Writs daily. So I've created a simple "kit" similar to the Alchemy and Provisioning ones found elsewhere to accomplish this repeatedly.

This can also be used for your first Level 50 Enchanter, if you have a friend or guildmate who is willing to follow this technique for you. Please provide materials, and always tip the master crafters.

TL;DR:

Method 1 - "Cheap" - With a minimum of cost and fuss, it takes less than 6,000 gold to fund the deconstruction of 275 CP150 Blue glyphs to reach Enchanting level 46.

Method 2 - "Fast" - With a minimum of time and Glyphs needed, it takes less than 14,000 gold to fund the deconstruction of 79 CP150 Blue glyphs, then 114 CP150 Purple glyphs (195 total Glyphs) to reach Enchanting level 46.

(The trade-off between methods is the time of 80 more craft/decons, vs the cost of 12,000 more gold.)

These newly-powerleveled Alts will then craft only 28 Glyphs (one of each rune stone with a few exceptions), which earns a large Translation bonus to finish levels 46-50.

One final step translates the final 6 unknown runestones in a specific, cost-efficient way for full Translation/Achievement potential, to maximize Master Writ drop chances.

Notes before we get into the steps:

  • I am PC NA. All gold values below are based on MM/TTC for PC NA. Your mileage may vary, particularly on consoles or EU. You will need to use Guild Stores to buy bulk cheap materials.

  • The most common recommendation I've seen is to level two alts simultaneously using a "Craft-swap-decon" method. This is not as cost- or time-efficient due to the relatively high price of middle-level Potency runes, and relative complexity of an incremental swap-decon scheme. Starting from a single Master Enchanter lets us replicate cheap, high-inspiration glyphs using Jehade and Rejera (CP150) Potency for a simple process.

  • Yes, there are other ways to get Inspiration. Bookshelves, Writs, buying glyphs from Guild Stores or using dropped white Glyphs can all contribute. This post demonstrates a completely self-reliant method that can be done in about an hour from a brand new character, without any random elements.

  • You'll need a minimum of 12 free skill points on each alt (9 Potency + 3 Aspect) to get there with full translations. If you have spare skill points, you can optionally them into Extraction. When finished use the Shrine to Stendarr to refund your Aspect and/or Extraction points since they're not used for daily writs, and these can be reinvested into other crafting passives.

  • Up to a 40% bonus to Inspiration can be earned. (10% ESO+, 10% Orc Passive, 20% Champion Point Passive) - For this guide, my math ignores all of these, but if you qualify for any then congrats, you will accomplish this even cheaper and faster. The math is easy; for each 10% bonus you have, make 10% fewer glyphs to deconstruct.

  • If you already have some levels in Enchanting, or have made some translations by doing low-level writs, and don't want to redo the math, simply use the "cheap" method and make only blue glyphs. Use excess glyphs for another alt, or sell them.

  • If you're also on a PC, use a multicrafting add-on that will let you input a quantity of items so that you can simply set it, and forget it.

Step 1 - Setup and Mass Decon step:

  • This step brings you from level 1 to 46.

  • Your Master Enchanter alt, or a friend, will need to create Glyphs to order according to your choice:

** "Cheap" method - Craft 275 of the same CP150 Blue Glyph

** "Fast" method - Craft 79 of the same CP150 Blue Glyph, then 116 of the same CP150 Purple Glyph

  • Finished glyphs are given to the level 1 Enchanter, who then first decons all Blues, then any Purples (if using Fast method) - IN THAT ORDER.

  • Those Glyphs will use the cheapest possible Essence (Deni, Makko, Oko, Meip, Dekeipa - all about 5-6 gold each). Use all of the exact same essence - this makes decon MUCH faster (while they don't stack in the bank, they do on the decon menu).

  • ALL Glyphs will only use CP150 Potency stones (Rejera or Jehade - again, just pick one and make all of them the same type). They are cheap (9-10 gold each) and they generate the second-highest Inspiration returns - they're the best bang for your buck.

  • All base materials should be available in large stacks from Guild stores. Shop around to keep costs in check, and be prepared to shop across multiple zones to get enough if you plan to do this for multiple Alts. Denatas are about 7 gold each, and Rekutas 70, bringing your cost per glyph to 21 (blue) and 84 (purple).

Step 2: Translation step:

  • This step brings you from level 46 to 50.

  • If your new enchanter already had some runestones translated from doing writs, etc...you can still use this step, just create a few more blue Glyphs in the previous step to compensate. Each blue decon is worth 12,205 inspiration, and each translation at level 45+ is worth 11,072 -- about 1:1.

  • You'll create 28 Glyphs - most Blue (Denata) - one of each available Potency (keep putting skill points into your Potency passive as you go). For each craft, rotate in a different essence runestone (except Hakeijo) until all 17 basic ones are translated. Make your level 1 Glyphs white (Ta) and Green (Jejota), and one of your CP100 ones purple (Rekuta) to also translate those along the way and max our Inspiration (skip Kuta for now). If you're missing any of the weird middle-level Potency stones, buy a single one from the Enchanting merchant - a huge time savings over finding one in a Guild store (seldom sold as singles).

  • If all done at level 46+, these 49 translations / 28 Glyphs earn a total bonus of 542,528 Translation Inspiration + 81,103 Crafting Inspiration. Levels 47, 48 and 49 only take 603,160, so you'll begin this at about 161,069 Inspiration into Level 46 (bar showing almost 90% progress).

  • When finished, you will have deciphered 28 Potency (all but Rejera, Repora, Jehade and Itade which are locked behind Enchanting Passive 10), 4 Aspect (all but Kuta, not economical), and 17 Essence (all but Hakeijo, not economical).

Step 3 - Achievements step:

  • After Enchanting Level 50, you will finish out the final 6 translations in a very specific way to get the achievements which maximize Master Writ drop chances, without major sunk costs

  • Make one Truly Superb Glyph of Prismatic Defense (Legendary) - Repora Hakeijo Kuta. This will sell to a PVP'er quickly via a guild store or zone chat at 15,000, and costs 12,000 (Hakeijo) + 3000 (Kuta). You can buy Hakeijo from Guild Stores.

  • Then, make trash White Glyphs with the other three CP150/CP160 potency stones Rejera, Jehade and Itade to finish (or make them Blue and hand them off to your next alt to level with.)

  • You can certainly translate Hakeijo and Kuta at a lower level, but you're throwing away your money since a lower level prismatic Legendary will not sell for anything but decon fodder prices.

Final Notes on cost and efficiency:

High level Blue Glyphs average 200-250 gold at Guild Stores; we're making them for about 10% of that. High level Purple Glyphs sell for around 500, and we're making them for less than 85 gold. However, to get your first character to 50 so that they can enable all the rest of your alts, feel free to buy them in the quantities I noted above. It's still a great investment -- until you can make them yourself.

If we were to switch to CP160 Potency stones, the additional inspiration would only save us about 10 crafts overall, but would double (or more) the cost of materials for each Glyph.

Likewise, simply doing all Rekutas is an option, but not efficient. It will cost about 3,000 gold more to do this, and will use 193 Glyphs - only saving you 2 crafts overall. Save the cash.

If you're starting from Enchanting level 1, it is technically a tiny bit cheaper, due to the Decon inspiration caps at lower levels, to craft Ta (white) glyphs for your first two decons, then Jejora (green) for the next 32, since they both only cost 1-1.5 gold apiece in Guild stores. However, your savings after all glyphs will only be about 200 coins. Spare the tiny expense, make it easy on yourself and just do all Blue.

The deconstruction efficiency breakpoint in the "fast" method for switching to Rekuta is about level 25. Although Rekuta Decon doesn't earn FULL Inspiration until Level 36, it earns enough at level 25 over Denata to make it faster by a couple of Glyphs or more starting at that level. I charted all of this out based on Sunshine Daydream's research - PM if interested in the data.

At the Translation step, Blue is most efficient for both the "cheap" and "fast" methods. If you use Purple Glyphs instead, you only earn 52,280 additional Inspiration, which only saves you about 5 Blue decons at an additional cost of about 1600 gold for the Rekutas. Same goes if you make only White Glyphs, you'll be "saving" about 160 gold vs Blue, but only earning 1/4 of the inspiration. You'd have to make up the loss of inspiration with about 6 more blue decons, erasing your savings.

TL;DR - At the top, ya dingus.

[XBOX] Best PvE DPS Magplar Build for Horns of the Reach patch?

Posted: 03 Aug 2017 11:43 PM PDT

Can someone please answer these questions regarding the optimal magplar PvE DPS build for vet dungeons and trials next patch?

1) What sets should I run?

2) What weapons should I run on each bar? (i.e lightning staff on front bar or dual wield on front bar)

3) What Mundus Stone should I run?

4) What traits should I run on my weapons (I AM SO CONFUSED ABOUT THIS OMG)

5) What is the best monster set to run? (I know this is touching on the first question but due to the Illambris and Grothdaar changes I felt it deserved its own question.)

Thank you so much in advance for people who are taking their time to respond to this question.

Best Regards,

Tanking/Healing. How challenging are they?

Posted: 03 Aug 2017 06:16 PM PDT

Hey all! Ive just gotten into eso and made a stamknight dps. Just so I could get the feel for the game at first. He's currently level 22. I've gotten down the feeling of weaving and keeping buffs/debuffs active. And I've been complemented a few time by 500+ cp guys in my guild for knowing what I'm doing and not standing in fire (lol). I'm thinking of making either a warden tank or healer. A bit of background I played wow since mid BC. I did main tank progression raiding and was in the 4th ranked guild on my server as well as having the highest ilvl pally tanks. How is the change over from tanking there to here? And should I be weary of learning on a controller(PS4)? Healing in this game also intrigues me, but I always fell asleep and quit playing my healers in other games due to boredom. Should I stick with me dps and get him to 50? Or should I reroll and fill a speacialized niche?

Edited for spelling

[Discussion] What are some hidden gems of enjoyment to explore, conquer, and experience in ESO?

Posted: 03 Aug 2017 05:23 AM PDT

My wife and I both made alts a couple weeks ago after having leveled our mains to almost CP300. Our alts were around level 42 when we decided to do some skyshard hunting and grinding to get to 50. We decided on Reaper's Marsh since we had never actually explored that area.

Upon entering, the difference in scenery from EP lands we were used to was immediately apparent. We spent some time killing overland mobs until hitting the Vile Manse public dungeon.

"Public dungeon? Aren't these mostly ignored?" she said to me. "Why not, let's go inside".

We entered the abandoned mansion and were immediately immersed in the eery feel as the quest began, the key was found, and the mansion explored. The entrance into the dungeon below was incredibly neat and well done by the designers. The basement is such a neat area. It's almost claustrophobic. It feels damp and cold. The mobs inside are the perfect blend of quantity and quality, and the boss fights were actually really cool.

We plan on running more public dungeons later this week! We feel we have found something new and fun for us to do together in the game, and the gold, loot, and experience are quite good considering we're having so much fun!

What other gems have you found that you think fall outaide of the "grind it out" playstyle?

Treasure Maps Hugely Disappointing

Posted: 03 Aug 2017 04:12 PM PDT

I saved well over 100 treasure maps across multiple characters until I got up to CP225 and gave a secondary character the Treasure Hunter passive.

After opening 30 or 40 chests I have to say that the Treasure Maps are really disappointing. About 1 chest in 6 seems to upgrade a blue item to purple but, for the most part, you just get a couple of blue items and some junk. You could get more value out of investing your time in a number of different activities.

Yes, you can get some zone set items but 95% or them are just vendor trash that nobody wants. But the worst part is the sameness of it all - apparently there is zero chance of getting some fabulous or special loot item, something rare and exciting - nope, it's just the same mix of crap in chest after chest.

I guess I'll just destroy my other 60 or so Treasure Maps and reclaim the bank space. Seems like a lost opportunity to add something really cool to the game.

Is there a reason for not being allowed to have more pieces of furniture in the houses?

Posted: 03 Aug 2017 07:32 AM PDT

So I begun recently to decorate my house and I noticed that even with ESO plus the number of items allowed is still really small and the house looks quite empty compared to the ones that you can find in the game. So is there a reason for not allowing more items? Like technical or of some sort

Possible Bug?

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 02:41 AM PDT

So I respecced my Stamina DK on ps4 today, and after buying back my skills again, my Poison Injection had reverted to Rank 1 Poison Arrow. After a few hours of grinding to get the skill levelled up and back to Injection again, I notice that the exp bar hasn't moved. Like, at all.

Am I just incorrectly remembering how slowly the 5th skill in a weapon tree levels up or is this something else? I also don't know why it wasn't immediately Poison Arrow rank 4.

New player looking for tips!

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 02:28 AM PDT

Hello! I'm new to ESO and I am having a hard time figuring this game out, especially race/class combos. I like tanking, but is playing a tank a good idea for the first character? Or should I instead be DPS or healer and learn the game before I venture into the world of tank(s) (So fun)?

Also, which things would you guys have loved to know before you started playing the game? I've read up on having to research and train the mount, but is there anything else?

TLDR: Is tanking a good idea for a new player, or should i play another role instead? And which class/race combo are good for x role you think is best for new players?
