{ Shitpost warning }

A Warlock Subclass focused on overpowered sticky grenades.

Im going to be so disappointed if you can't join a fireteam instantly in partol when someone invites you.

Posted: 05 Aug 2017 11:07 AM PDT

It's such a small gripe, but it's something that needs to be in the game. Destiny is a loot shooter that emphasizes socialization through players and just being able to join someone's fireteam right on the spot from a invite would be a godsend.

This Guardian will be late to the party...

Posted: 05 Aug 2017 09:38 AM PDT

Just need to bare my soul for a second. As a day 1 D1 player - I couldnt be more excited for D2, I pre ordered at the first chance available. As someone who is currently on active duty however, Ill be heading out the door on a deployment in 2 weeks and will not return until sometime in late December. I am going to do my best to catch up when I get home though, I promise. The grind for that light level will be real, and most likely I wont be able to stay away from spoilers in the interim. Either way, I appreciate you all here, and you make playing this game that much more enjoyable. Have a blast on D2 when it drops! This guardian will be watching from the sidelines and will join as soon as he returns to orbit! Cheers!

Edit: How I feel towards this sub right now

Edit #2: Just some photos for the people who didnt know that Coasties deploy! First deployment from 2013, Another one, Training Pic #1, One more

Destiny-hearthstone cards

Posted: 05 Aug 2017 09:46 AM PDT

Idk why I did this but one day I started making a bunch of Hearthstone cards based around Destiny enemies and concepts. If you're a destiny AND hearthstone fan you might get a kick out of it. If not... well, you might still enjoy it.

You can check em out here

PS the Darkblade one is my favorite

One of the things I want in D2

Posted: 05 Aug 2017 10:52 AM PDT

Is to delete things while they are in the postmaster, I hate trying to make room in my inventory then picking the things up in the postmaster to delete them again. If we could just delete them while in the postmaster it'd just save a lot of time

Name Origin of Thagomizers

Posted: 05 Aug 2017 11:34 AM PDT

I was reading an old Gary Larson "Far Side" comic today and discovered the origin of the titan exotic "Thagomizers" name:

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/65/Thagomizer.png

Take note of the stegosaurus like spikes that stick out of the armor:

https://www.bungie.net/en/armory/Detail?type=item&item=155374076&itemname=Thagomizers

I love seeing the weird little easter eggs and humor in this game. Thanks Bungie!

If you're wondering if you can edit your D1 characters appearances in D2... you can't.

Found here: https://www.bungie.net/Mobi/en/About/Article?id=45967

You guys should really check out the FAQ if you have any questions. Honestly I'd say just make a new character in D2. There's probably going to be more hair styles and other things. None of your progress from D1 is carrying over so you won't be losing anything.

Embarrassing confession: I've never completed an AoT raid yet or gotten any raid gear.

Posted: 05 Aug 2017 08:09 AM PDT

It saddens me. Every time I try I get people that say, "I'll invite you" but never do, or a team of people who don't want to try and we end up getting stuck on the first boss of WoTM for two hours (this actually happened).

I had someone message me that offered to help, and as I was thanking him, he said "I'm only 300 light but I know what I'm doing."

Hopefully I can finish one before D2, haha.

I really wish D2 would show all medals earned after a crucible match.

Posted: 05 Aug 2017 12:20 PM PDT

I don't care about progressions, and I hate going to the website to see medals earned.

Let's take a moment to appreciate how far the game has come in terms of aesthetics.

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 10:35 PM PDT

I've been playing Destiny since the beta for the first game and the difference from then to now (the menus and all) is crazy. Here's a progression picture I whipped up of me from the very beginning to now.

I converted other's doodles into Destiny style guns!

Posted: 04 Aug 2017 02:27 PM PDT

Over the last couple of days I've been drawing guns based off friend's doodles, what originally started as a one-off exercise in an art group Discord seems to have developed into a fun little series and I figured I'd share here:

SSDs are like NOS for your loading-times!

Posted: 05 Aug 2017 06:41 AM PDT

There are a lot of informations and opinions about how much an SSD can improve loading-times on consoles.

So I decided to give it a shot and bought one for my Xbox. I already knew how blazing fast SSDs can be on a traditional PC rig but I was a little bit sceptical about them on Xbox since they are limited by the USB 3.0 standard.

Boy was I wrong: The loading-times got almost cut in half across the board. Destiny had always been annoyingly slow for me but I never took the time to measure it - until now.

I'm using the internal HDD of my 'Day One Xbox One' in comparison to a Crucial MX300 275GB SSD inside a Orico SATA III to USB 3.0 case.

I measured loading-times on five different points:

  1. Boot up - From the Dashboard to the character selection
  2. To Orbit - From the character selection to orbit
  3. Tower - From orbit to the tower
  4. Orbit return - From the tower back to orbit
  5. Temple - From orbit to the iron temple.

I did two measurements on each and averaged the times. I also cleared the cache on my Xbox before I measured the times.

Here are my results (mm:ss.ms):

HDD

  1. 01:50.13
  2. 00:11.99
  3. 01:41.81
  4. 00:17.51
  5. 01:39.46

SSD

  1. 00:50:76
  2. 00:06.38
  3. 00:41.84
  4. 00:09.32
  5. 00:58.01

As you can see the SSD leads by a huge margin. I'm super happy with the results but at the same times I'm a little bit sad I didn't bought one earlier. Unfortunately I don't have any data on Destiny 2, and even though it felt significantly faster than D1, the SSD will almost certainly improve Destiny 2 loading-times as well.

tl;dr:

SSDs are improving loading-times significantly in Destiny 1 and will certainly improve them in Destiny 2. If you're looking for a way to enhance your gaming experience on consoles you should buy an SSD.

I got golden gunned while still a ghost.

Posted: 05 Aug 2017 04:21 AM PDT

It would be cool if we wore casual clothing in social spaces.

Posted: 05 Aug 2017 10:01 AM PDT

The games already done, I know. But it would be kind if cool if we wore some casual clothing/undersuits where we all chill. Maybe like 3 default outfits for everyone to wear, you know? A farmer's outfit, a plain t shirt and jeans, something like that.

It will probably never happen, but I can always dream lol

Destiny 2 interview with DeeJ

Hype leaking into my painting practice. Hope you enjoy this oil sketch of a ghost!

I'm trying to learn wet-on-wet oil painting and this was a fun subject! Took a few hours.

My brother in law and fireteam member suggested painting an expanded ghost next, to show motion, so I may upload that too!

Edit: as a self taught artist who tries to do art on the side (I'm a teacher), the love this post is getting is really, really making my entire...year! Stay awesome, guardians!

Edit 2: I have an art Instagram here

How does the community feel about Rift not being a part of Destiny 2 crucible?

Posted: 05 Aug 2017 07:14 AM PDT

It doesn't seem like Rift is going to be making the cut for Destiny 2 at launch. Rift has definitely been a polarizing game mode in Destiny 1, however the most significant problems with the gametype seem to be that 1) coordinated teams would have a massive advantage over solo-queue teams and 2) the Destiny 1 maps didn't support the rift game mode very well.

I feel like since Bungie is already tailoring Destiny 2's maps for specific gametypes, there's a great opportunity for an improved rift experience on maps that are actually designed with Rift in mind. Rift was the favorite PvP mode among my clanmates so we are bummed that it doesn't seem to be returning. I was curious how the rest of the community feels.

Deej's interview

Posted: 05 Aug 2017 11:21 AM PDT

Deej says after we beat the game the map opens up all these activities to do, specifically naming Adventures as one of the activities.

Beyond the campaign, once the last cinematic plays out I think you're going to find a lot more variety. When you're in a destination, you open the map and the map will be littered with all these different things you can do. You can go on adventures that will tell you more about those destinations and the characters that you'll discover in those places. You're used to walking up to a character in The Tower or in a social space like The Reef or Felwinter Peak, but you'll actually walk up to characters in destinations and interact with them.

We know adventures supply us with the upgrade shards/unlock tokens for our perk unlocks. Does this mean there's only a few adventures available before the end of the game so we can upgrade all the way before the end, and then more adventures after we beat the game? Or does that mean adventures aren't available til you beat the game, so we'll be playing without our perk clusters til the end of the campaign?
