| [SPOILER] A closer look at the Chronicle contradiction Posted: 07 Jul 2017 08:18 AM PDT A repost from the WoW forums [SPOILERS FOR UNRELEASED CONTENT AHEAD]Earlier, Reignac posted this thread on the WoW forums identifying a contradiction. He didn't, however, directly quote either of the sources he was using to come to this conclusion, so I have. The tl;dr is: Turalyion seems to suggest that the world soul of Argus is what allows the Legion to only die if they're killed in the Nether. Chronicle, however, shows that demons had this ability even before Sargeras was corrupted. Here's the problematic dialogue: Turalyon says: A titan... the Legion must have harnessed the power of its soul to regenerate its armies in the Nether! If we can destroy it, the infinite army... (Here's a screenshot of the dialogue ingame) Here's the contradicted line from Chronicle: To Sargeras's dismay, he realized that he had fought many of these demons before. After he had defeated them in the physical universe, their spirits had simply returned to the Twisting Nether. Eventually they had been reborn in new bodies. This does look pretty bad - either we're misinterpreting what Turalyon says (and he seems pretty clear) or he's an unreliable narrator - which is possible, but he didn't jump to that conclusion very organically, he just says 'A titan eh? Well it must be THIS!' which seems to indicate that this is what Blizzard wants him to communicate as a means of exposition. I hope they fix this retcon in the patch, which is still, for all intents and purposes, in development, rather than retconning the Chronicle book, which is physically printed and unable to be changed. | The back equipment slot has to be the worst used slot for visuals Posted: 07 Jul 2017 07:33 AM PDT In any MMO nowadays, you get some pretty sweet options for character customization, and WoW definitely has a lot in the apparel department, but if there is one thing that bugs me about this equipment slot, it has to be that it's wasted on cloaks. Currently we have one item in the game that fits into the back slot and isn't a cloak, and ironically, that is The Emperor's New Cape, which, if you haven't leveled through the 50s before, doesn't have a model. Every single other back item in the game is a cloak, cape, shroud, whatever you wanna call it. Why? Where are the backpacks, the wings, where is anything innovative and actually cool instead of boring retextures of existing items? All kinds of class specific stuff could be put onto the back of your character, like quivers for hunters, tress growing out for druids, giant flags for warriors, etc. But instead we get cloaks, cloaks, cloaks. Posted: 07 Jul 2017 12:21 AM PDT I got nostalgic today and remembered my days on maelstrom during vanilla and TBC. There was an Orc Warrior named Gug on the server who was in RP mode 100% of the time. He had a huge fan base which led to him leading the the biggest world pvp guild on the server called Horde Strike Force which was full of not the best but most heart filled players you could imagine. No matter who you were or what you were doing, if you saw alliance all you had to do was message someone from horde strike force and Gug would show up with a posse and fight them. Gug would only play protection warrior and kill alliance. It was all he did. He was not the best but by far the most true blooded horde I had ever known. There were rumours of him speaking in character on Vent. I wonder what happened to that guy sometimes. [link] [comments]  | ||
