Official r/smashbros Monthly Voted Tier List (June 2017): Results! Posted: 09 Jul 2017 08:18 PM PDT WOAH, WHAT?! How in the heck did we travel forward in time one full year? /s How the tiers work: S Tiers are best, most viable characters in the game. "The Meta," if you will. They are always able to place high at tournaments, and their strengths tend to outweigh their weaknesses considerably. A (A+/A/A-) Tiers are characters who don't define the meta, but are definitely viable and able to compete. They may possess a few noticeable flaws or lack very big strengths, but they are able to be worked around. Use of these characters will never hold the player back. B (B+/B/B-) Tiers are characters who are able to do very well in tournament, but are held back from consistently placing high. This can be because of several flaws, very large flaws, bad match-ups, or other reasons. However, they are definitely still threats. C (C+/C/C-) Tiers are characters who are really only good for situational or limited use. They have potential, but this potential is limited by their struggle against popular characters in the meta. They can be very useful in certain match-ups. D Tiers are characters who are not tournament viable in any sense. They are littered with too many weaknesses to even have occasional use as a pocket. A player would be severely limited by these characters. In terms of Miis, they are ranked with both their default and custom movesets. Default Miis are marked with a "1111," while freed custom moveset Miis are not marked. Both default and custom moveset Miis are average (guest) size and do not have any custom equipment. What the tiers made! What we got with Miis not factored in the equation And, for comparison's sake, this was the result of our calculations last time Interesting things to note: Diddy falls below 2nd for the first time this year, with Cloud rising to take his place at the top of A+. Luigi rises 4 spots and hits A- once again, nearly reaching Top 15. Villager goes down 3 spots and falls into B+ tier. Lucario, on the other hand, rises into A- tier, taking Villager's usual spot at the end of the tier. Greninja sees one of the largest drops this time around, falling 4 spots to the very end of B+. B Tier remains 3 characters large, with Link joining the tier and Yoshi falling out of it. For the first time in the history of mankind, the Pits are next to each other on the tier list. We did it, Reddit (not that the opinion is correct, but it's been 2 and a half long years of complaining my dudes). Duck Hunt saw the largest rise on the list, moving up six spots and hitting the very top of B- tier. On the contrary, Roy saw the largest drop on the list, falling 5 spots and hitting the very end of B- tier. Mac and Pac-Man trade spots, Mac taking the tail end of C+ and Pac taking the top of C. Nice try, /u/Purple_Debo. Well, time for my little "Funsie" Question! (actually, it was less of mine and more of somebody else's idea, shoutouts to /u/freeziebeatz) This time, participants were asked about how heavily they valued certain factors when voting on these tier lists. Each question was answered on a scale from 1 to 5, with 5 indicating that the factor was heavily weighed and 1 indicating that the factor had very little influence. When asked how much they valued tournament results when voting on the Monthly Tier List, respondents answered with a 4 (heavy value) on average. When asked how much they valued character theory when voting on the Monthly Tier List, respondents answered with a 3 (moderate value) on average. When asked how much they valued character match-up spreads when voting on the Monthly Tier List, respondents answered with a 4 (heavy value) on average. When asked how much they valued personal experience when voting on the Monthly Tier List, respondents answered with a 3 (moderate value) on average. I'm curious to see how this lines up with the official summer rankings. Regardless of what we think, at the very least everyone here is top 30 on the Summer Rankings. Some of my personal opinions (Feel free to disagree) 24/25 players here match my top 25 (Not the same order though). Only I would have Crush over Colbol The Moon got under-ranked here pretty bad. I feel like his results at CEO and Momocon were taken into consideration too heavily The list for the most part is similar to mine except a lot of players on mine are switched (Mango>M2K, Wizzy>SFAT, Westballz>Shroomed) Some random stats One guy ranked Armada at 20th The Moon has the most spread results getting votes from 14th up to 25th and everything in between 2 people think Chudat is the best player in the world Despite coming 21st in the rankings, HugS had the lowest number of votes to get into the top 25 from Part 1 submitted by /u/TheFlyingCule [link] [comments]
