| Today, a brand new pokestop spawned right in the middle of my home. Posted: 11 Jul 2017 12:16 PM PDT This is a very good day. I didn't even request it, it was suddenly just there. By far the best spawn in my house so far. [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 11 Jul 2017 02:42 PM PDT Disclaimer: Most F.A.Q. have already be answered during previous "another step"-posts but for those of you who dislike clicking my neat links below:
Earlier steps: global release to L16, 1st week stats, global release to L15, global release to L14, and L13 joins the party
New step: Level 12 or above now have access [...] This will be the last level granted access at this time.
Level 12 kinda compares to L30 in P-GO (not fully apt comparison as Agents have more level up requirements than Trainers). With that in mind, let's take a look at the stats.
What can we learn from these stats (updated)Previously drawn conclusions found here Sadly this time they didn't release any new info so all we know for sure is that for the time being we can expect more than 350k new pokéstops/gyms to enter our overworld. [link] [comments] | ||

| FYI: Don't be sleeping on Poliwrath [discussion] Posted: 11 Jul 2017 07:02 PM PDT Everyone is Machamp, Machamp, Machamp but forget about this secret weapon. Here is why you should reconsider him and toss that king rock aside. Compared to Machamp he has the same stamina but better defense making him sturdier but has less raw attack. But he makes up in a couple of ways 1-Poliwhirl is significantly more common than Machop 2-Better moveset options with Poliwrath. Being dual type Poliwrath has good options, things like bubble/Hydropump are great against Rhydon and Golem (while resisting rock) and Rock Smash/Dynamic Punch an equal or better option than counter/DP for Machamp 3-Key resistances. Poliwrath literally resist every single attack (charge or fast) that Lapras or Tyranitar does. Making him invaluable in raids or gym battles. While not an overall replacement of Machamp (or Vaporeon) he is an invaluable member of your team with rural right moves. Take a look at your Poliwrath, is worth investing if you have some tms lying around. [link] [comments] | ||

| [Story] Pogo gave me the chance to help someone out. Posted: 11 Jul 2017 07:09 AM PDT Yesterday morning I was killing time while my car was getting an oil change. I saw there was a raid at a nearby park that I could solo so I decided to pop over. Hit some stops, put a mon in a gym and parked myself on a bench and was about to start my raid. There was a gentleman sitting on the other bench working on a word search puzzle. After a minute he asked if I could help him. As it turns out he is from Afghanistan and is trying to improve his English. He had found most of the words but was stuck. All that was left were ones that were backwards and diagonal (so the really hard ones). We sat together for about 10 minutes and finished the puzzle together and I also explained to him some of the word meanings as we went along. He was so kind and polite, and it was such an enjoyable moment. If that raid hadn't brought me to that bench I would not have had that opportunity. My mother, although born here in Canada, did not learn English until she went to school. She has told me many times how she struggled at first and how little help there was back then. It made me truly happy to have the opportunity to be kind and helpful to someone in that way. [link] [comments] | ||

| [Suggestion] Actual statistics Posted: 11 Jul 2017 07:36 PM PDT I wish they would actually statistics at the bottom of the trainer page where it tells you your start date and accumulated XP such as how many nice, great and excellent throws you've managed to get. [link] [comments] | ||
| How Pokemon Go (potentially) saved my life [story] Posted: 11 Jul 2017 10:52 AM PDT So on Sunday I was watching TV with my girlfriend (doesn't play PoGo) when I realized I hadn't visited a Pokestop yet that day and Mondays are when I get my 7 day streak. I knew there was a gym at the Safeway down the street from my house (also hadn't picked up my raid pass for the day) so I told her I wanted to pick up some stuff from Safeway to make dinner that night. She's...not the biggest supporter of her 25 year old boyfriend running around playing Pokemon so I try to keep it as subtle as possible. Anyways so we start heading downstairs to leave and when we get in the garage, we smell gas. Like a lot of gas. So I start peeping around and the water heater in my garage has a gas leak. I shut the gas off and call someone to come fix it in the morning. May not sound that significant, but we didn't have any plans to leave the house the rest of the day so who knows how much gas could have leaked out and potentially filled the house while we were asleep. Also, the pilot light was still lit and I'm not sure if it's entirely impossible for the gas level in the garage to become so dense that the house would literally explode. Anyways, tl;dr Pokemon Go prevented my house from exploding. [link] [comments] | ||
| Not everyone defines "playing a game" as "min/maxing the reward system" Posted: 11 Jul 2017 07:02 AM PDT TL;DR: Collecting free coins is a fun perk for playing the game. Collecting free coins is not the game. It seems like a lot of players are causing their own stress and unhappiness by projecting their personal quirks onto a casual phone game. Pokemon Go is (in part) a game where you pick a team and try to hold gyms. I'm on the blue team, and I think it's fun to level my pokemon so they're strong, so they can kick out yellow team and red team pokemon, and hold blue gyms. I think that's really fun, and I get exercise by walking around to accomplish this. A lot of players on this forum define the game as "get maximum coins with minimum effort." Since the game doesn't offer that, the game "sucks," and the recent update is "is a slap in the face," or whatever. I think this is sad. Nowhere does the game claim to be a vehicle for you to get unlimited free poke-items, and projecting that judgement onto the game is unfair. The game is for people who think it's fun to train and battle pokemon. The 50 coins a day maximum is a fun perk for those who are enjoying playing the game. If you don't enjoy training pokemon and don't enjoy battling gyms, and you only login because you desperately need 50 cents worth of free pixels of this game you apparently don't have fun playing, maybe it's not the game for you. Or maybe you need to tone it down a bit. Play a little bit each day, and stop when it stops being fun. You don't have to make it a part-time job. I know I've rustled some pokeballs by saying this, and I'll be accused of being a company shill, but I'm not. I'm just an old, grizzled gamer who realizes that having fun due to gameplay is the real reward, and free bonuses on top of that are icing on the cake. If you don't like the gameplay and log on only for the bonuses, well, you need to reevaluate. edit: I will add that it's sad to see people put 10CP pokemon in gyms hoping they'll get turned over faster so they'll get their coins faster. It's no different than going into a team-based FPS and purposely killing yourself and helping your team lose so you get a few participation points faster. [link] [comments] | ||
| Time to add a "scrollable" sightings list? Posted: 11 Jul 2017 09:21 AM PDT Okay so this has been an issue for me for a long time. I live about half an hour from any city, and the closest pokestop to me is literally on the outlines of the PoGo map (If I move 10 meters to the west from my house it doesn't show up anymore) On the nearby/sightings from home I ONLY get up 4 Pokemon, and all of them are on the one Pokestop that is a 2 km walk from my house if I follow the roads. I just now randomly stumbled upon a Dragonite (it was 450 CP so wouldn't really have missed out on much), and I came to think of what else I have missed... There are 10-20 spawns within 200 meters of my house, but I can't see any of them on the nearby list... If Niantic even listens; Could we get a scrollable nearby list? Eventually add a seperate tab for Nearby and Sightings (much like you now added a tab for nearby Raids) Please and thank you This problem would also be resolved if I'd be able to request some new Pokestops in the area :P Ty [link] [comments] | ||
| [Idea] Being able to switch Pokémon between battles on a Gym Posted: 11 Jul 2017 10:58 AM PDT I'm not too sure if anyone has ever brought this up before (sorry if I'm just repeating someone else here) but a feature that allows us to switch Pokémon after defeating an opponent during a gym battle (waiting for the next battle to start) would be an awesome idea. There are the options to force start the next battle or quit (I think). How convenient would it be to have a third option to click on that brings up a menu of the Pokémon you have ready to go that you can pick before going into the next battle? I think it would be very useful. It gets pretty annoying being in situations where you go from fighting a Laparas with a Charizard or Flareon and beat him, then a super beast Gyrados or Vaporeon is up next and the battle starts and they start attacking you and drop your health a bit before getting to switch (having to waste more potions) Then when you finally get out your gangster a$$ Jolteon out to smash these guys, and it does that glitch (I know you all have been here) where it switches back to your last Pokémon you just switched from for a split second taking even MORE damage. FRUSTRATING. So I think that third option between battles to switch Pokémon would be extremely useful and would make a lot of people very happy. I do also realize that the option to swipe up during battle to chose Pokémon is there but that doesn't get the job done for me. It's in the way if anything because it sometimes interrupts when trying to dodge an opponent's attacks and that is frustrating as well!! ESPECIALLY during raids. Sorry if this is a bit of a long post here but it has been on my mind for a while now!! Just an idea!! Thanks for taking the time to read this! [link] [comments] | ||

| COMPLETING A TYRANITAR RAID WITH ONLY 2 PEOPLE Posted: 11 Jul 2017 07:23 PM PDT So me and my girlfriend came across a Tyranitar raid and decided to go for it. We heard that completing one with only 2 people has only been done once before...in Japan so we had an idea how difficult it would be. We used a team full of Machamps because we know that fighting is super effective against the rock typing that Tyranitar has. Also because thats what the japanese people used. This is the result of that: https://youtu.be/xd7lahUmaR0 [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 11 Jul 2017 07:35 PM PDT I was feeding my Pokemon a bunch of berries in a row to combat another team taking down the gym and at one point I noticed I was about to throw a golden razz berry instead of a common berry. I then went to switch back to the common berries and they were inaccessible and dulled out. Then I tried to tap on the pinap berry and got the error message that my Pokemon was tired of that berry. Sorry if this has been posted before, I couldn't seem to find it when I searched the sub. [link] [comments] | ||
| Okay, Gengar. We get it. You're the boss. Posted: 11 Jul 2017 11:35 AM PDT All Your Base Are Belong To Gengar I'm generally curious of the odds of this happening. Three of the same level 3 raid boss, in the same hour, in the same screenshot... ...pretty spooky if you ask me. Edit: Reposted a second time after taken down by mods. Original post was a picture and not a link in a text post. Strange... [link] [comments] | ||
| [Discussion] What are you're Pokemon Go "Rules of Thumb?" Posted: 11 Jul 2017 01:15 PM PDT Whether it is regarding catching, battling, or item management. I want to hear about it. Hopefully, if we get enough traction on this we can learn from each other and maybe think about things in a new light. Ill add what I do in the comments and hopefully ya'll do the same. Ill add the good ones here for easy access. I am in no way trying to stretch this out to hit the word limit. Anyways, Cheers and Thanks! [link] [comments] |
