The Dates for Doomfist and Summer Games

Posted: 05 Jul 2017 08:17 AM PDT

Hi! I'll show you a detailed Schedule of the upcoming teasers and Releases, i.e Doomfist and Summer Games.

I'm gonna clarify one thing: THIS IS SPECULATION BASED ON PREVIOUS EVENTS. It's not confirmed true, but it's very likely to happen, with the Doomfist/Summer Games crashlogs, etc etc.

First of all, Doomfist's release. Let's look at what Blizzard did with Orisa. I'll expend on /u/Tacidem 's theory

  • Febuary 21st, first teaser

3 days

  • Febuary 24th, second teaser

3 days

  • Febuary 27th, third and final teaser

3 days

  • March 2nd, PTR release

19 days

  • March 21st, Live release

So, it's safe to say we can expect the same thing for Doomfist.

  • July 4th, first teaser

3 days

  • July 7th, second teaser

3 days

  • July 10th, third teaser

3 days

  • July 13th, PTR release (Also, cinematic release? It's been 8 month since the last cinematic, Jeff said we should expect season 2 of cinematics to happen soon. This seems like a good opportunity. Doomfist hype!)

19 days

  • AUGUST 1ST, LIVE RELEASE!

Notice something special? August 1st is on a tuesday. That's when major releases happen, and that's also the date Summer Games should come back. ( Last Year was Aug 2-23, This year should be Aug 1-22 )

So, this is where it's all tied together!

Doomfist/Summer Games crashlog, confirming that Doomfist and Summer Games are on the same build.

TL;DR: It is VERY LIKERY that Doomfist is gonna release on PTR the 13th, and that he will come out at the same time as Summer Games August 1st!

EDIT: Overwatch has monthly "big updates". So if we don't get a patch this month ( For the new highlights and lootbox system ) maybe Doomfist will come this month, maybe on the 18th or the 25th, along with the new highlights and lootbox system.

The pro scene is hemorraging and it needs blizzards help.

Posted: 05 Jul 2017 07:01 AM PDT

First of all, the game is not dying. I love this game and i love playing it, it's a shame how the game has managed so far in terms of the pro level and it is due to how blizzard has handled it.

The reason i say this is due to how unresponsive blizzard has been to anyone asking questions about OWL and the fact that the pro meta has been the same for about 4 months. Pros are looking into other esport scenes or to just get regular jobs instead of going all in into a game with no information about pro leagues at all.

In the last couple of weeks, the korean scene has been hesitant in going all in for OW. Now this might not seem like a significant thing, but korean pros are very different from EU and NA because they don't even expect a minimum wage for being a pro. If you are willing to live like shit just to play the game you like, it becomes a whole lot different from how the EU and NA scene. I can't really tell you how many, but i reckon many pro players right now are only playing because they get paid, and that's not how it should be. I couldn't tell you how many semi-pros that have already jumped ship, but there are countless people who need new teams in the OW discords i browse because of this. Players, teams, organizations, owners, and so on are all fearing for their careers, as they should, because time is passing and nothing is happening.

Blizzard needs to be forward and forceful to clear up this doubt, communicate to orgs, players, and the community the direction you plan on going and when. No one jumps into a Captainless boat and expects to navigate turbulent water. Its up to you Blizzard to man that helm, do it before it all sinks into nothingness.

Credits to /u/BattleBull for the last paragraph.

Do positive players ever have an impact on you?

Posted: 05 Jul 2017 09:26 AM PDT

Long story short, I try my best to be as caring, funny, positive, encouraging and helpful as possible to my teammates (and sometimes enemy players!) in every game mode I can because I spent a lot of my life dug up in a hole of negativity. A lot of tragedy in my life has ensued before I even turned 18 this year, so I really started trying to give people what I also desired; pure and utter kindness.

Do you ever encounter players who are positive that actually impact you afterwards? Or even during game? Or are they just people whose words glide off you like butter? Because I'm one of those players, I'm just curious to see if my words have any effect on anyone.

If not, there's still no harm in being nice. But if so, I'd love to hear some of you guys' positive experiences to help break up amidst the negative posts/experiences here. E.g. Has a player ever been kind enough for someone to stop and think about why they're being hostile? Ever convinced someone to stop throwing and ended up winning a match?

I get that there are a lot of problems in every gaming community, so I guess it's always nice to have some form of sunshine in your life:)

Blizzard should add your career high SR to the "All Competitive Seasons" screen

Posted: 05 Jul 2017 03:18 PM PDT

It would be such an easy thing to add, and would make the screen much more useful and informative. I mainly find myself looking at people's career profiles in order to see their SR, so this simple addition would improve it by miles.

Dr EloHell, or How I Learned to Stop Missing and Love The Meta

Posted: 05 Jul 2017 06:48 AM PDT

Alright, former bronze player here, now halfway through gold and approaching plat at a really fast pace. My rank was at 1100 when I reached my low point. Basically, I sucked, plain and simple. I didn't know why, and I thought it was because of this thing called "Elo Hell." But no, I learned that I sucked donkey dick. What I recommend you guys do, regardless of rank, is to record your games. For Nvidia card users, just hit alt-f9 while overwatch is up, and it will record your game and your mic so that you can look back at the game and what was said. Also, what I did was say what I was thinking out loud, so that I could see my thought process and see where I went wrong, and what my game sense was lacking in.

You don't understand the things I saw, I was seeing myself try to fight Soldier 1v1 as Mercy, or just Winston ult for no reason, and most importantly I had seen that I couldn't aim for dog squat. I was mortified, 12% accuracy with Soldier. After a good week to two weeks, I was able to pick up on when enemies had ults, what positions would have worked, and what the teammates should do. The two most important things out of the entirety of the things I'd learned was aiming, and seeing the game flow (not getting flustered). I.E., I would get into a 1v1 and forget everything happening around me, and if I died, then there goes the push. Whereas now, if I were in the same situation, I would remember where my team is, think a plan to escape, and use my position to my advantage. I have the high ground, I must keep my health in mind and back off when necessary and pay attention to flankers. I'm at a choke, I need to pay attention to the location of the healers, find cover to escape to, and pay attention to flankers targeting the tanks or healers. [If you're wondering why I'm speaking mostly from a DPS standpoint, you'll see in a minute.] Even though the game gets intense, you need to constantly think, and predict outcomes. In my opinion, that's the most important thing to do in this game.

And now to the second most important thing, aim. I once met a smurf in bronze who played with me a bit, and taught me some things. He said "Everyone has the potential to be good. I watched a lot of pro game play to see exactly what the maneuvers, positioning and comps are. However, while this can teach you most skills, it can't teach you a good aim. Once you understand this game, then you think outside the box, try new heroes, and see what is viable and what is not. But in order to reach that, you have to dedicate the time." Needless to say, I was very erect at those words. And I took his advice. But I didn't only watch pro game play, I watched my own, and that has made all the difference. I'm actually now able to play with him on his main account as he's in diamond. It was the biggest achievement in this game to say "You remember me? I made it all this way because of the time you invested in teaching me how to learn." Ahhh...

I'm getting off track here. Back to aiming. In order for me to learn to aim, I had though that practice would make perfect. While it's true that practice helps, practicing the same thing over and over will perfect that technique, not the entirety of what you're trying to learn. So I had tried things like moving my entire arm, flicking, figuring out sensitivity, using my wrist, and aiming while strafing. I had then realized, "Why am I focusing on which one to use, when I could just implement them all?" And I did. I went from 12% accuracy with soldier, to 59% best with Cowboy Guy.

And now on to my point of why I now primarily play DPS. While I do fill if the comp isn't optimal and people won't switch, I try to play DPS the most. The reason is because with the abundance of Phara, playing a hitscan with my newly acquired aim completely shut down the enemy team. Not to mention my newly learned positioning, teams at bronze, silver, and gold couldn't adapt, aim well enough, nor could they cooperate enough to focus. If you continue to move position, attack healers and DPS, eventually the team starts to crumble and you've pretty much won the game.

However, it's not like it was a cakewalk either. Some games I lost because either I was under performing, my team wasn't coordinated enough, or nobody played tank/healer. In bronze this wasn't an issue, because I was soloing teams. In mid silver, teamwork was nearly a requirement. What did help with this was a lot of positivity in the comms, and using my game sense to tell the team who has ult, and what position to take. Sometimes the team didn't listen and we won because the enemy team was either worse, or we lost because the enemy team understood positioning better than we did. Okay, so that's pretty much the gist. I know that's a lot to take in, but when I was stuck in bronze, that one guy helped me, and I wanted to pay it forward and maybe help some people improve at the game.

If you have any questions feel free to ask, and good luck out there on the ladder!

Edit 1: I don't get why this is getting downvoted, I spent 30 minutes writing this to try to help people stuck in the same position I was in
