1.12+ Has finally given the ability for true ambience without mods. Exactly the noises you'd expect to hear in a natural environment, when & where you'd expect to hear them. More examples in the comment section.

Question to Devs: Ever see something you want and can't have?

Posted: 05 Jul 2017 03:03 PM PDT

When you are making the vanilla game, have you ever found something (possibly modded, possibly just a suggestion) that you can't add to the game for some reason? If you do all the time, what is your favorite idea you've found that will never make it into the game, and why won't it?

Thoughts of a Minecraft creator.

Posted: 05 Jul 2017 04:13 PM PDT

I don't even know if anyone will read those words, but if you will, thank you for spending time on reading here.

I'm a little creator. I create maps, statues, I usually take Minecraft as an art tool. I think is the most beatiful thing I could do in this game. I can explore dreams, see the progress of a creation, make it real. Something of interesting. But that's why this post exist:

Is this worth?

I got all the time this question, asking myself on midnight. I don't even know if this will be recognize to pepole, if pepole will see as how I want (and, wanted) to show: art. I always got this goal: utilizing Minecraft as a creative tool. Doing concept, writting stories, creating things. This thought could be taken and used for other situations, but there's something of different. The satisfaction of completing a project. I don't know if you could agree with me. I still got fear of posting this, I don't know if pepole could see what I mean. I always got the fear of creating, because pepole couldn't agree with something I want to do. But I found this way of creating a bit new, unique if we see in another view. I still improve everytime, everyday myself for getting something that I don't even know. More days, more days and I still continue. But more days comes, more the fear of fail, the fear of waste time. Yes, you're reading well: waste time. Because time is not infinite, I'm human and I'm not immortal. And you still try to set your goals and pass those, but you'll never go on what you want to do. I had a lot of goals in my "journey" and after years I still didn't realize anything that I used to dream.

Continue in this way? I don't even know if say yes or no, because the only thing who run my desire of creating. I don't even know how I could took this and fly away from this text. But this is my reality of what goes on my mind. I could be crazy, I could be pointless, but I still fight for something: creating art, creating concept, creating stories in Minecraft. I don't even know how could a game allow pepole to create "as a 3D desing software", let's say as this, we know is not really just this, let's change word: Voxelart.

But I'm here, writing this thought. I don't know if this will be a good ispiration or just flying words on a text.. but I don't have much in my hands, at least I try. I'll try until I'll lose the hope of a Minecraft map creator. I'm really sorry if could be annoying, but I just wanted share this. A bit of my story.

Build in Creative, play in Survival?

Posted: 05 Jul 2017 04:22 PM PDT

(Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong thread)

Let me give you some background here:

I have never played Minecraft before, but have always wanted to play.

My brother plays all the time and loves it.

Here's the thing; I couldn't care less about survival mode. Idk, maybe that would change if I started playing, but honestly, I just want to build awesome things in creative.

My brother is the total opposite. He loves playing in survival and NEVER uses creative.

So I had this idea. What if I built things in a world using creative, and then HE played in that same world on survival? So I could build him cool buildings and other things to stumble upon.

He is all for this idea, but has no idea how to do it.

I figured someone here could help.

Is this even possible? If so, how do we do it?

Like I said, I don't even have the game yet (I don't want to buy it until I know whether or not we could do this).

Oh, also: I have a MacBook Pro, my brother has a PC (Lenovo laptop). Idk if that matters or not.

Thanks everyone!
