Suggestion: Voice line plays on MVP screen

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 05:08 AM PDT

I think we can all agree the MVP screen needs something. Just thought it would be a nice personalised touch to play the chosen voice line of which ever player gets MVP.

Also since no one seems to use voice lines during the match anyway, it might give an actual use to it.

Shouldn't the Slime damage for Egg Hunt scale with level?

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 08:43 AM PDT

Try Mode: Egg Hunt level 1 slime does 86 damage (to targets that aren't already affected by slime). Level 20 slime also does 86 damage...

The tooltip says it is an untalented slime, but it doesn't mention that it is also fixed to be a level 1 slime.

I also tested Chromie's level 20 "Past Me and Future Me" talent that casts an untalented sand blast, and it actually does scale up with level.

Egg Hunt is the weakest talent in that tier so I think it wouldn't hurt if its slime actually scaled up with level?

Edit: Okay, but Fishy deal is still the dominating talent so why not make the damage scale?

If you want to get better, watch HGC!

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 09:26 AM PDT

I've been watching HGC for the past 3 weeks and I've already learned so many things. The casters are helpful and give tips/advice during the matches. I've gone from Silver 4 to Silver 2.

Let's make a pledge

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 03:35 PM PDT

I have decided to pledge to try and make this game a little more positive.

All my comments and advice will come in the most positive form I can possibly make them. If I make a mistake I'll own up to it and not repeat it. If you rage at me I will not respond in kind. I've won games with my amazing skill and lost them in a spectacular display of stupidity.

With that being said I'll start every draft by introducing myself, and begin every game with glhf. I'll tell you well done when you make a play, and back you up when you ping or make a call. I suggest we all try this. I know it won't reach the 2% who still need to rage and belittle others, but to everyone else I am glad you are playing this game because without you I couldn't even play the game I love so much.

So glhf, and I look forward to playing with all of you.

I made a Google Chrome extension to jump to blue posts on r/heroesofthestorm

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 10:45 AM PDT

I saw a post today requesting the function to jump to a blue post on reddit. This has been one of my most wanted features as well, so after a bit of google-fu I hacked together a working prototype.

Click on the "Blizzard Response" label in the title to jump to the first Blizz post. If there are multiple Blizz posts, you will see a "Next Blizzard Post" label next to each post except the last, similar to how the Blizzard forums work :)

Hope you guys find it useful and feel free to PM me or leave comments in this thread. The icon is a placeholder so if a fellow redditor feels like making reddit/hots mashup icon I'll swap it in.

Download

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/reddit-blue-posts-hots/lhcohagkldjemkkeicpjonfbecgbkeen

Test the extension after you download

https://www.reddit.com/r/heroesofthestorm/comments/6k8wa2/stukov_confirmed/

Edit:

I've modified the extension to create a "Next Blizzard Post" label to the right of the title. Not the most aesthetically pleasing as I'd prefer to use the existing flair, but it prevents clashes with RES and I don't want to override RES user functionality. You can force chrome to update extensions by enabling Developer mode" in the extensions page and clicking "Update extensions now".

The Healer's Handbook, now up to date with the addition of the Kharazim Guide, by ZeroMax

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 07:29 PM PDT

HeyGuys,

It has been a while since the last guide was published, but I'm back with yet another addition to the Healer's Handbook, this time with pretty much the most requested support guide to date. Yes this week, we are going to explore the flow and nuance of the Veradani Monk, Kharazim. As usual the guide is as in depth as I can write at the moment, so be prepared for yet another long read. All feedback is appreciated and I will also be watching this thread to answer any questions, comments or concerns about Kharazim and other supports. Also this week, for those who want to argue for talents I have deemed unoptimal or niche, I have written a disclaimer in the guide which I will also include below. ;)

Disclaimer - These guides are written from the perspective of a Master/Grandmaster/Competitive player with the logic that what is effective at the highest level of play will for the most part be effective for the lower levels of play. The builds and talent choices within are incredibly optimized for high level competitive play. Feel free to disregard the following information and continue using what works for you.

Anyways, thanks for all the support and motivation to keep writing. Until the next update.

Overview – Latam Competitive Scene 2016-2017

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 04:43 PM PDT

I know everyone has been happy with the growth of HotS' competitive scene across the world. With HGC, we had an increase in viewership on Twitch, matches being streamed every week, and an environment that allowed teams to improve and become more professional.

We're almost in August now, so I believe it's possible to analyze what has changed, for better or for worse, in the Latin American competitive scene in the 2016-2017 season.

1 – Number of LAN events (worse)

In 2016, we had 4 LAN events, all of them open to the public. In 2017, we had 2 LANs, with only one being open to the public. While you might think that some major regions also don't have LAN events, I ask you to take into consideration that players from Mexico and other nations to the North have to play with teams from Brazil and Argentina, which means they have very high latency (150+ ms). Another point is how important these events can be to get casual players more interested in the pro scene.

2 – Prize money (worse)

Last year, prize money payment had a considerably delay of 3-4 months, and we complained a lot about that. All we always got was the promise that this issue would be solved in the following year (2017) and payment would be quicker. Alas, we're getting close to the end of July and have yet to receive any money from 2017 tournaments (1st cup ended in Feb 12th). It's not viable to train as professionals when you aren't getting money to sustain yourself, and 95% of the money in our pro scene comes from prize pools, as very few organizations are interested in investing in a small scene like LatAm Heroes of the Storm.

3 – International prize pool (worse)

We know that Copa America gives you a direct invite to international events, so one team will be graced with the prize pool of those, which is somewhat of an incentive for players to try to improve and become the best. Since BlizzCon numbers haven't been released yet, I'll compare the other events in 2016 and 2017. Summer ($500k), Fall ($1kk), Spring ($500k), summing up to $2kk without BlizzCon. In 2017, Mid-Season Brawl ($250k), 2 Western Clashes ($100k each), which equals $450k. We know a considerable portion of the money was redistributed into the HGC leagues, which makes sense, but is still a step back for minor regions, since we don't get the benefits that Major regions now have (salary). The qualified team was playing for a total of $2kk in 2016 international events, whereas in 2017 it's only $450k.

4 – Latin American prize pool (better!?)

We have 4 seasons, each one of them with a $20k prize pool, summing up to $80k. In 2016, our total prize pool was $60k. The winning team last year would get at least $5k (LatAm) + $12.5k (minimum international prize), while in 2017, it's $7.5k + $5k respectively. Looking at just numbers, the idea is that the prize pool got better, but we have to take international events into consideration as well. What actually happened was an improvement in how the prize pool is distributed within our region. In 2016, it was divided between 3 sub-regions (North, South, Brazil), and now it's only North and South. With that, 2-4th placed teams get more money.

5 – Streams (better)

This is the only side where there was actual improvement. We got more casters, the organization responsible for the streams was also changed. We have more viewers during our matches, the amount of content available to the public was also increased. We still have some issues like stream disconnections and some information that isn't easily available, but that doesn't change the fact that there was noticeable improvement in the streams.

Conclusion

Generally we notice some regression in our scene. We know we're a Minor region and Major regions get investment and changes first. We always expect changes and improvements so that our competitive scene can grow gradually, and in the worst case, we expect and see as "acceptable" that things stay the same in the following year, but even that didn't happen between 2016 and 2017.

Small thing about the new autocomplete function for emotes

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 08:22 AM PDT

It's a nice addition, but if I actually type out the entire emote like I am used to doing I now have to press enter twice to enter it in chat. Since I'm expecting to only have to press enter once, suddenly having the chat box still open makes me accidentally type q/w/e/r/d/f in chat instead when I want to use an ability.

Should Older characters get new voicelines?

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 09:12 AM PDT

With Garrosh coming, I thought 'wow, Jaina is going to be PISSED' immediately.

Then I realised she has no lines that could actually do that well enough.

The other beta heroes suffer the same problems. Raynor barely has any interactions nowadays, what happens if Mengsk is added and all we have is his 'let's just get this over with'?

The questions are whether it's possible, cost-effective, and above all, wanted by us?

Can the game save our settings in trymode again?

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 02:10 AM PDT

Hi, in trymode the game used to save our settings so the following time we go to trymode we don't have to deal with that pesky Malf or changing our lvl to 20 to test builds. Of course Arthas can stay, he's a keeper (and a good sandbag). Can we have this back Blizz plz?

Suggestion-Let us enter try mode with another player in our party

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 10:43 AM PDT

I mostly play fighting games outside hots and practice/training mode is one of the most important things when it comes to getting better and learning the game.

I think if you could enter try mode with atleast one more player it would help players not only test builds and practice character specific match ups but also put themselves in a certain situation, that they feel unfamiliar with and are not sure what would be the best way to handle it,over and over again until they figure it out and feel ready for a real match.

This is not only important because you would get better,as it would also make for a better user experiance in a match where you dont need to go by trial and error or experiment with builds and strategies that may not work as you thought they would, which can lead to unnecesariy losses.

It could help with practicing landing your skill shots aswell as doging them, working on solo laning match ups and how to overcome them,Things can also get really specific with altering your hp and mana and trying to beat a hero,Practicing escapes or ganks aswell.

All in all this simple change could really help all players on all skill lvls, because it would enable you to be more prepared and basiclly simulate a ton of scenarios that occur within real matches(both the common situatuions and the very rare ones that dont happen alot) and let you find the most optimal ways of handling those scenarios.

EDIT:when entering try mode with another player only the owned heroe(this would include current Free hero rotation heroes) and cosmetic items could be used.

weren't the InDev videos supposed to come out more often after 2.0?

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 02:05 AM PDT

I think the reasoning by devs that new In Development videos have less content compared to pre-2.0 was that it will allow them to release content more often, but so far the schedule has been exactly the same?

And all we got for it is less actual skins and mounts, and much more tints?

I might be wrong, but that's how it feels.

In any case, all will be forgiven if Greymane finally gets a sick skin or two. He's the only one of my main roster that that I don't like the look of.

EDIT: to people quick to take offence, this post is just a wondering, not a call to arms to lynch devs. And also a thin veiled attempt to finally push towards a Grey skin release. You can all chill out, no one whines. Whiners are over there in the "GENJI OP OMG" thread.

[Valeera] Reminder that this hero is still infuriating in QM and useless in HL.

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 10:47 AM PDT

Valeera is still an infuriating pubstomper causing dumb wins (or losses) and overall very frustrating games everytime she's in a game, however, she's also still near useless in drafted games because she is easy to counter with supports and tanks.

This hero has such a cool kit and so much potential, but instead, she's pidgeonholed into this cheesy burst squishee & smokebomb design.

Also, she currently has numerous bugs (taking towerfire when invisible; cancelling Vanish with basic abilities)

New Skin Ideas for Raynor and Tychus

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 06:21 AM PDT

Hey,

I don't usually visit Heroes of the Storm, so I apologise if this has been suggested before.

I'm enjoying the War Chest for Starcraft II and it's reinvigorated my interest in Starcraft lore a bit. Reading about Jim Raynor's history is cool. He was a former criminal and his greatest partner in that time was Tychus. Anyone who has played Wings of Liberty knows this, I'm sure.

Anyhow, here's an image depicting a bank heist of theirs. Pretty sweet, huh?

We have Marshal Raynor, and we also have Raynor in his typical armour and typical clothes, but we don't have him all nicely suited up.

P.S. Give Garrosh a suit as well. The more characters with unfitting clothes/skins, the better. Banter.
