Free Arena Run & Knights of the Frozen Throne Card Packs During The Frost Festival

Posted: 10 Jul 2017 07:06 PM PDT

Can we please take a moment to thank Team 5 for their mentality for the upcoming expansion

Posted: 11 Jul 2017 12:35 AM PDT

First off they announced new adventure like single-player missions which will reward you with packs for the new expansion, and a free legendary of the new card type in the expansion

Secondly they released a double gold event for 2 WEEKS!! about 1 month before a new expansion, and now we have time to gather gold for packs for the next expansion.

Thirdly the recently announced that we will get a legendary within our first 10 packs within the expansion, and they removed duplicate legendaries

Finally it was data-mined that they are giving us free arena runs and packs for the upcoming expansion for completing those arena runs.

I don't think we appreciate Team 5 enough when they do stuff like this for us, they are clearly making the game more accessible to people who don't want to spend money on the game, and actively working at this.

I also think if they see this kind of appreciation then they will be more open to do events like these, this game was at an all time low with Gadgetzan and they fixed the diversity within the META this past expansion

On a final wrap up Id like to thank Blizzard on the changes they have made in the past months and how they took a complete 180 from Gadgetzan and fixed the game, and I am looking forward to what you guys have planned for us during The Year of the Mammoth

Dirty Rat > Devolve > Instant Regret

Posted: 11 Jul 2017 12:57 AM PDT

https://imgur.com/gallery/sXVZk

Wish I could have documented it better with screenshots but there wasn't much time once I realized what happened. So here's the approximate story:

I got the stone sentinel from a swashbuckler. Then my opponent drew it out with dirty Rat then played Devolve which got me the Auctioneer and the mana addict. I then had a hand full of coins and spells which I spammed at his face, sapped the rat, and then 17 attack mana addict for the win. I've never laughed so hard or felt so dirty.

To my unlucky opponent. I'm so sorry.

Blizzard's Appear Offline Mode Spotted in a Hearthstone Update

I like making crossword puzzles – here’s a Hearthstone themed one

Posted: 11 Jul 2017 12:07 AM PDT

Disclaimer: This is a PDF file best printed to solve; it is not digitally editable!

First off, I don't know how familiar you are with crosswords. But I created this one around Hearthstone and I don't really have someone to share it with. Hopefully some of you are interested enough to give it a go. I guess puzzles in general and Hearthstone are not too far apart. So, here you go:

Hearthstone themed crossword: Difficult version. You only know the clues and whether they are across or down, but not where to put the answers.

Hearthstone themed crossword: Simplified version. All the clues have their place to put the answer in.

Notice: I created the biggest part of this already some time ago, so it will probably feel a bit outdated.

How to solve (the first paragraph applies only for the difficult version)

This is not a regular crossword: The clues are randomly listed, but correctly declared as Across or Down. You have to fill the answers into the correct place – and there's only one so that every other answer fits in, too. Some letters are already given as a starting help.

Now, all the clues that are highlighted blue are in some way related to Hearthstone. The black clues are not, so that's why I called it only Hearthstone themed.

As mentioned above, the most convenient way is probably to print it and pick a pencil to fill in the letters. Sorry for not creating a digitally editable one. I don't own the necessary software (or skills) to do that. If someone feels like making an editable PDF, I'd be most thankful to add it to this post.

Solving tips for those struggling (applies only for the difficult version)

I usually approach these by going through all the clues first and writing down the answers I know (or think to know). Then I look at the longest answers I wrote down and search in the grid for a possible place, since the longest answers usually have the fewest places to fit in. If there's an answer that can be filled in with high probability, that's a great help to build upon. It's difficult, however, when it looks like none of the answers are certain. Then you best pick a pencil and just go for one option: Fill an answer you think is true in a place where it fits and try to build other possible answers around it. If nothing seems to add up, just erase all of it and start anew.

Difficulty

The crossword declared as difficult and originally posted is the more challenging version. The clues are listed randomly. While it is probably hard to solve, especially for those who are not too experienced with crosswords and/or Hearthstone, I received several messages of people who solved it completely. It is possible, but a challenge.

So that's why I added a simplified version, where every clue has its number and place in the grid (see EDIT 2, resp. the second link). For people who struggle with the original one or just want to take it easy, this should be the more enjoyable one to solve.

Also, sorry for the many abbreviations. I agree with u/_FTWW_ that the ratio is a bit high and aim to improve for future crosswords.

Have fun solving. Cheers.

EDIT: Formatting

EDIT 2: Since many seemed to struggle with this version, I added a simplified one. In this all the clues have numbers which indicate the place of their answers in the grid. I hope it didn't get too easy this way. I hope you enjoy this version. Thanks for all the constructive feedback so far! It means a lot.

EDIT 3: Clarification, added text

Blizzard is stepping up their game, literally

Posted: 11 Jul 2017 02:47 AM PDT

I mean, before and after the release of Un'Goro, mostly all people of this subreddit said, that Hearthstone is getting too expensive and you cant keep up with the amount of expansions as a f2p-Player.

Look now, they are communicating with us, the community, like it has never been before and are giving so much stuff away for free, such as gold, packs and a random hero card, while also making it easier to build up a collection, by removing duplicate legendaries.

We really have to appreciate that Blizzard is taking so much action to make us enjoy their game.
