| Posted: 13 Jul 2017 10:11 AM PDT As a player that refreshes siege, holds camps, and repairs walls I feel discouraged to play currently. The old system was perfect for me, but with the current one I dont even bother keeping up my participation. I already have my pips done for this week but I can only imagine how much more of a pain next week is going to be. On a smaller server or one that is in the middle of the pack there is already a lack of players that do "the boring stuff", and with this patch I already see the effects. Players that I've known that would assist in holding camps, scouting, and repairing have resorted to zerging and ktraining. This left almost nobody playing desert borderland, let alone people scouting for my server. I believe anet should revert the changes before they change the pip system or while they plan changes to the pip system because the current participation system is not healthy for wvw. Posted: 13 Jul 2017 01:19 PM PDT Over the past few days I think many of us found the participation adjustment a bit stifling when it comes to rewarding play time in WvW. Certain activities that are not so fun are being discouraged even though they are essential for their world to be effective at the game. Anet seems to be going at this a bit backwards in terms of making a reward structure that rewards behavior they want to see. The issue before, and even after the change, was that it was just as reward effective to build up your participation and semi-afk as it is to stay highly active on a map. The only difference is now more difficult for both active and inactive players to maintain consistent reward ticks. People passively camping base just have to put slightly more effort to ensure the pips keep ticking. Making participation harder to maintain doesn't fix anything. The goal should be to make the highly active play we want to see a much more effective means of earning rewards than the passive play we do not want to see. Having the participation change reverted or not. Anet needs to implement some positive reinforcement for the behavior they want to see, not try and punish bad behavior with a blanket solution that can negatively impact all players regardless of behavior. I think the reward structure can be benefited by adding pip bonuses for things that active players would be doing every tick that inactive players would not be doing by sitting at base. It seems you have this fine UI that tells you where you are earning your pips from. I find it strange there there can only ever be 4-5 things displayed there. Why not add more bonuses to be earned and displayed there to encourage active play? By adding pip bonuses for things active players do that would need to be acquired every pip tick, you are encouraging players to stay active every for tick. Such activities can include capturing/defending objectives, killing other players, repairing/destroying objectives, or other not so fun activities that presently are not being rewarded. After the tick you would be back at the base amount for your next tick unless you complete bonus objectives again. Killed 5 players on your way to a camp? Get +1 extra pip on your next tick. Captured that camp on the next tick? Get +1 extra on your next tick. Defended that same camp and killed 5 players doing it the tick after? Get +2 pips for doing two bonus objectives in the current tick. Of course something like this would need careful balancing, but it would also encourage players to stay in active play and get as much done for their world between every tick to maximize their reward. I feel like this would be the better solution than what has been implemented this week. While yes, we will never get rid of passive and inactive play. Atleast this way the active players are rewarded on a much greater basis than people passively waiting out ticks at base and might encourage some of them to come out of base and do something. I checked the Canada retailers and it gave me this: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/retailers/#Canada-physical Seems there are no digital retailers. So I go over to United States page and it lists DLGamer as a digital retailer. Great. So if i purchase the expansion from DLgamer, do I get to activate and play it in Canada? The site says "Can be activated in Canada" I'm just worried since digital retailers and not mentioned in the Gw2 site, I will get in trouble. [link] [comments] | ||
| Two Questions about Berserker Power vs. Condi Posted: 13 Jul 2017 06:23 PM PDT 1) The PvE meta power Berserker build is on the lower end of damage potential, benchmarking at around 22K. Of course, the role of the Warrior using this build is to buff allies moreso than to DPS. Is there a more "selfish" Warrior or Berserker power build which parses higher? 2) For WvW roaming, is power really more effective than condi? Metabattle has several power builds, but when I compare the two condi looks much stronger than power. (I have put my comparison in a comment in order to keep this post itself shorter. I am getting very sick of this now. WHY is it not fixed, you have over a dozen crash reports from me. I also found this thread on the official forums, wtseriousf Evan Lesh. YOU made this code, WHY aren't you reading the crash reports and sorting it out?? Why is it up to us players to continue to suffer, and then have to copy and paste your crash report. That means you aren't thinking of fixing it you are just letting players continue to suffer so they can show you a copy of the crash report (translation for those who do not understand: it is the attitude I'm complaining about here, instead of saying, right, I'll check those crash reports, or talk to the people that check the crash reports, or say, I'm going to do something about that right now, he's saying, when it happens again, show me the report. Again if you don't understand, it's like a doctor telling you, oh you have gangrene in your toe, well when it reaches your knee I can see it better then and decide what to do about it).
