All the guides ingame are 3-2 years old (except Torte De Lini's ). What the hell are they doing there?

Posted: 07 Jul 2017 06:31 AM PDT

I know Torte De Lini guides are self sufficient but this is very confusing for new players. I keep seeing guides as old from 6.80. These have no relevance in the current meta whatsoever. Please remove those useless guides. Guides should be visible on the basis of their last updates, not popularity.

Player Cards and Favorite Team (Disappointment)

Posted: 07 Jul 2017 10:01 AM PDT

Player Card / Favorite Team (Disappointment)

Like many of the battle pass owners, I was very excited for the release of the player cards. Not so I could participate in the fantasy system and gain more BP levels, but so I could represent my favorite team in game. As such, the Team Logo "TP Effect" above your hero's health bar rewarded from the player card sets seemed like a really awesome idea and I was excited to put it into action. Unfortunately, that isn't the reality for myself and many other owners.

Issue 1:

The first major issue with the cards and the favorite team system is the lack of explanation and ambiguity in the description.

The Favorite Team section of the battle pass says, "After you've collected a complete set of Player Cards for a team, you can select it as your favorite team. Collecting a complete set of silver or gold player cards for a team will unlock higher-quality rewards."

The problem with this description is that is it misleading. You tell us the a full set (not silver/gold) can be set as our favorite team. Then the silver and gold unlock higher tier rewards. You don't explain what setting your favorite team for a blue set does, and you don't explain what "high-tier rewards" are. Instead, there is a lot of ambiguity in the lack of information followed by a picture of ALL the rewards, as if to suggest the Favorite Team gives you those features and gold and silver augment their appearance (a common trend in dota - not a ridiculous assumption). Anyways, like most things dota-related, I had to dig through this subreddit (on the "new section no less") which ultimately led me to obscure thread with the correct breakdown:

Full gold = Team Icon above your hero when you are TP'ing (Like Pro players in official matches)

Full silver = Team Icon with white lighting effect BELOW your hero when u finished TP'ing

Full Blue = Team Icon without white lighting effect BELOW your hero when u finished TP'ing

Moreover, the OP of that thread only found out how these features worked through various personal testing in a custom lobby. Not only are the rewards not listed or explained, but they don't work in all types of games (Demo Hero + Bot Matches), which ultimately adds to the confusion. If you don't put the descriptions, the most convenient way to test it yourself is through one of those two options (demo/bot match)

Issue 2:

The next major issue with the cards is that the reward/collection system is completely awful. I never asked for, or even wanted all these duplicate cards with random stats that i carefully need to sift through. Its unwanted, unnecessary, tedious, and time-consuming.

All I wanted out of player cards was the TP Logo for my favorite team. Instead, here is what i got:

I have a BP Level of just over 1k, which means I had a little over 100 premium player card packs (100 Gold Cards). Then add all of the recycled blue cards (60) + silver card duplicates (with bad stats) so that I ended with about 110 Premium Packs. From this, I've only received a complete gold set for 4 of the 18 teams.

The idea of your average BP owner collecting a gold set of his favorite team is practically impossible, and even the ridiculously high leveled pass owners still don't have a very good shot.

Suggestions:

I'm not sure why there isn't some sort of option that allows you to turn in a much larger sum of dust for a single gold card of your choice. Or another alternative would be something similar to the escalating odds where you have a higher chance to get the ones you don't have as you continue to open packs. Both seem pretty reasonable to me.

Conclusion:

Instead, I don't end up with a reward which I was originally very excited for and with the system they've developed, there is no way in hell I'm buying more levels for the abysmal chance at finishing a set. Imagine needing 1 more player for a full gold team (which i do in many cases), but the chance of getting that player is 1.11% every single time you open a pack. Then imagine spending more money (on those odds) just to use the feature for 2 months.

TL;DR:

You have to spend a very unreasonable amount of money on Battle Pass levels in order to get enough card packs for a complete gold set of player cards for your favorite team. This is required to unlock the seasonal team logo "TP effect" icon, which always felt like the primary (or most valued) featured to many of the customers.

Hi,

after reading TechiesTrash neat post about Techies from about a month ago, I wanted to try and come with some ideas for a Remote Mine rework.

Not the best ideas - and I'm sure some of this has been suggested before - but have a look:
