I feel like people dont realize how much time and effort mapmakers actually put into their maps. What happened to the whole "we will try to detect intentional ruiners" thing? Dota freezes for 1-3 seconds randomly. Windows 10 64bit Posted: 17 Jul 2017 06:54 AM PDT I have a powerful laptop, gtx 1060 and i7 7700HQ. I get well over 120fps on ultra settings but recently dota has started freezing randomly in game for a few seconds at a time. The screen just stops updating and then suddenly it will go back to normal. Audio still plays normally throughout the freeze. I've tried adding dota as a exception in my antivirus and windows defender and that didn't help. Does anyone know how to fix this? submitted by /u/dopethethird [link] [comments]

Did some calculations regarding player cards and BP levels. Posted: 17 Jul 2017 05:25 AM PDT After seeing all these threads about "Normal Packs vs. Premium Packs" and "After opening X packs I didn't get Y", I was curious, how many BP levels do you need to get your favorite team's all 5 gold cards or even all 90 gold cards. So I decided to write a programm that simulates the card openning process and came up with what people want to see when they finish unpacking player cards. There are some assumptions I made: The chance to get the gold card from the regular pack is 10% according to the Noxville's post and my own experience of openning packs. I wouldn't recycle a card until I got dublicate, and I would always leave a higher tier card, even if I don't really need it. In each case, I ran the simulation a million times. And here's the table I got after I finished. The first row of the table is the average BP level you need, the other rows are some percentiles (i. e. the level you need to have that certain chance of getting what's said). Just to make it clear, for each scenario there are three columns: You use all your dust to buy premium packs. You use all your dust to buy normal packs. You are too lazy to recycle anything and leave dublicates. And the scenarios were: You want all 90 gold cards. You want atleast 80 gold cards, and all the cards that aren't golden must be silver. You want atleast 60 gold cards, and all the cards that aren't golden must be silver. You want every single card to be silver tier atleast. You want the one team of your choice to be all golden, and all the other cards must be silver or higher tier. You want four teams of your choice to be all golden, and all the other cards must be silver or higher tier. You have three teams you are for, and you want atleast one of them to be fully golden, and all the other cards must be silver or higher tier. You want to have all the 90 cards, but you also want to have your favorite team fully silver atleast. You just want to have one card of each player, simple as that. You are going full davai with the five gold cards of the favorite team, recycling all the other cards of the other teams, even non-dublicates. The same as 9., but silver cards will do for you. You want to have all 90 cards, but you also need that sweet Miracle- golden card. To sum it up: It's probably worth your time recycling the dublicates. You can get 20-30% value by recycling the dublicates. Normal packs are better than Premium Packs. They are significantly better when you are aiming for blue and silver cards, and about the same, when you are aiming for the gold ones. Basically, premium packs is the way to save your time when you want to get the gold cards, normal packs are better. While you get decent value of cards on lower BP level accounts, value per level decreases quickly as you reach higher BP level. The cards you get even at relatively low 500 BP level account is pretty much enough to do well in Fantasy Challenge, but if you want to have your favorite team's tier-3 TP effect or want to complete all the teams with golden cards, you need some crazy amount of BP levels, i. e. you need 1400 level to get 80 gold + 10 silver cards, and you need more than double the amount of your BP level you already have to get those last 10 gold cards. And at 1400 level it's about 50/50 chance you get your favorite team fully golden. Valve needs either to increase the drop rate at higher BP levels or come up with a way we can get some certain cards we want the next battle passes.
